Chapter 515: Chapter 515: Series

She had seen countless people aim for Victor and vanish without leaving a trace. But Miss Dawn proved her wrong.

Not only did she surpass Victor, but she also rose so high that Victor himself had to tread carefully around her.

And then came the final blow.

Even though it was Victor’s son who was truly at fault, Sophia had been expelled from Victor’s corporation. Overnight, doors slammed shut.

Jobs vanished. Despite being a top lawyer, she struggled. Smaller firms hired her, then asked her to lower her fees.

’I never had to bargain before,’ she thought bitterly.

But now, she had to haggle just to survive.

It wasn’t until Maya appeared, offering a generous price, security, and the promise of a future raise, that Sophia finally felt the ground steady beneath her feet again.

Then Sophia agreed.

Outwardly, she remained calm and composed, her face as still as a frozen lake. Inwardly, however, resentment churned violently.

’Someday... Ms. Dawn and Emily will fall.’ Her fingers tightened slightly as she adjusted her glasses, the cold frame pressing against her nose, grounding her emotions.

’When they lose everything, when their money dries up and their influence crumbles, I’ll take my revenge.’

It was because of them that she had sunk so low, so low that she had been forced to take individual cases just to survive.

The humiliation still burned faintly in her chest, like an old wound that never truly healed.

Meanwhile, Maya narrowed her eyes slightly, her voice cutting through the silence.

"There’s one more thing."

Sophia looked up.

"There’s a woman named Jules," Maya continued, her tone unhurried yet sharp. "I want her behind bars."

A flicker of caution crossed Sophia’s eyes.

"Jules... she’s connected to the Waters family," she replied carefully.

"And the Waters family has Emily, Miss Dawn’s assistant. That won’t be easy."

Maya let out a soft chuckle, the sound light but chilling. "As long as there’s sufficient proof," she replied smoothly, "Jules will go to prison."

Sophia studied Maya with curiosity. Maya leaned forward slightly.

"I have evidence," Maya continued, her lips curling upward, "that Jules has been dabbling in drugs for the past two years."

Sophia stiffened, genuine surprise flashing across her face.

’Drugs?’ She had expected a staged car accident, something familiar, something easier to manipulate. This, however, was different. Dangerous.

"If that’s proven..." Sophia murmured, her mind racing, "she won’t just face two years. It could be life imprisonment. And if an accident is created and her past drug involvement is directly linked to it... even the smuggler could be dragged down for life."

Maya’s smile deepened. "You really are smart."

Sophia exhaled quietly.

Standing up, Maya straightened her clothes.

"Since you’ve given me such a wonderful idea today," she said lightly, "you can shop to your heart’s content."

With that, the two women walked out together.

By now, Maya had already written off both brothers, Jerry and Nick.

They were busy plotting to take down Theodore, hoping to implicate Lucas and retrieve Jules. ’Too late,’ she thought coldly.

....................

Meanwhile, Aurora finished restoring the recordings.

A cold chuckle slipped from her lips. Just as she was about to upload them, she paused. ’They haven’t acted yet.’

Her fingers hovered over the screen. ’Then I’ll wait.’

She sent the same message to Micah.

Micah was startled at first, his heart skipping a beat, before reluctantly agreeing.

He forwarded the message to Theodore, already bracing himself for backlash. ’He’ll think I’m not taking him seriously ...’

To his surprise, Theodore replied casually.

"I’m binge-watching a series for the next ten hours. Don’t disturb me."

Mika stared at the message, stunned.

For a moment, he felt the urge to grab Theodore and demand an explanation.

’Is he insane?’ But he held himself back. ’Later,’ he decided. ’I’ll deal with him later.’

...........

By the next day, the scandal erupted again, reaching its peak.

Fuel was poured onto the fire when Nick dropped more videos.

As soon as they reached the public, outrage exploded. Viewers grew furious, boycotting even the company Theodore worked for.

Nick watched the chaos unfold, his eyes darkening. ’The Waters family must have seen this by now.’

Sure enough, that evening, the Waters family sat together at dinner, tension thick in the air.

Everyone spoke at once, consoling Theodore, except Theodore himself, who sat calmly, watching a series on his phone.

Lucas looked at him, conflicted. "I know you must be hurt," he said gently. "But you can’t just shut yourself off from the world."

Theodore didn’t respond, his eyes glued to the screen.

Olivia sighed. "I’ve already deployed my people," she added. "We know who’s behind this."

Theodore paused briefly, then continued watching.

Adriana reached out and patted his head. "If you’re scared," she murmured softly, "you can tell us."

Mary shook her head in frustration. "People on the internet are truly blind."

Adam looked stunned but resolute. "

You don’t need to worry," he said firmly. "I’ve already asked my comapny to hire... whatever water army is needed."

Only Aurora remained silent.

Theodore couldn’t help but smirk. ’The quiet one is always the most dangerous.’

He wasn’t worried at all.

Instead, he forced himself to stay calm for his sister, who had been handling everything for him behind the scenes.

Aurora watched him closely, a trace of pity flickering in her eyes. ’Maybe he was hurt more than he’s letting on.’

Finally, Theodore looked up. When he met Aurora’s gaze, soft and sympathetic, almost as if she were looking at a wounded animal, he nearly blurted out that he was fine.

’Don’t look at me like that. ’But then he remembered. ’She must be hurting too.’

He put down his phone and glanced around the table. "Everyone should chill," he said lightly.

"I’m watching a series where the killer turns out to be the mother-in-law."

The family blinked.

"She’s been tormenting the daughter-in-law since day one," he continued casually, "and the stupid husband stays blind, letting his mother mistreat his wife. It’s tragic. The wife fakes her death because she knows the truth will come out eventually."

He leaned back.

"What she doesn’t know is that the husband already figured it out. He pretends to grieve while secretly protecting her."

He smiled faintly.

"There’s probably going to be a time leap. She’ll return with a twin. He’ll regret everything even more."

Looking at his family, he added,

"There are so many important things happening in the world. Why worry about some stupid online rumors?"

Silence fell over the table.

Everyone exchanged glances.

’His way of thinking... really is something else,’ they all thought.

When breakfast ended, everyone drifted away to attend to whatever they were supposedly meant to do that day.

The house slowly emptied, footsteps fading, doors closing softly, until Theodore was the only one left behind.

Aurora was meant to leave early.

Yet as she stepped into the corridor, her thoughts spiraled.

’Should I go see him secretly? Maybe I should check on him once more.’

Just as she reached Theodore’s room, she almost crashed straight into her siblings.

She froze.

Lucas. Adriana. Olivia. And... herself standing there with them.

For a second, all four of them stared at one another, stunned, as though caught committing the same crime. Aurora was the first to break the silence.

"What are all of you doing here?"

Lucas gave her a soft, almost sheepish smile. He subtly shifted the bag in his hand behind his back.

"We... forgot something in Theodore’s room."

Adriana nodded far too quickly, tucking a box of chocolates behind her waist. "Me too. I forgot something."

Olivia adjusted her posture, her expression composed while her mind raced.

’Thank God they didn’t see the papers I brought.’

To Aurora, the scene felt absurd. They looked like poorly rehearsed copies of one another, each holding onto a flimsy excuse.

Aurora endured it, her lips twitching slightly.

"And you?" Lucas asked after a pause. "Why are you still here?"

Aurora smiled gently. "I came to comfort Theodore."

Lucas let out an awkward laugh. "He doesn’t need that."

Yet inside, a bitter thought surfaced.

’If only I had accepted comfort like Aurora does, I wouldn’t be standing here making excuses.’

Aurora glanced at all of them. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"If you’re all here for the same reason," she said calmly, "then instead of standing here inventing excuses, wouldn’t it be better to just go in together?"

Silence followed.

Finally, they abandoned their half-hearted apologies and exchanged looks of quiet agreement.

One by one, they moved toward Theodore’s room. Lucas raised his hand and knocked.

The door opened.

Theodore stood there, trying to keep his head lowered, but it was useless.

His eyes were red, his lashes damp, his face tight as if he had been holding something back for far too long.

Panic rippled through the group.

Aurora’s heart clenched.

’I should have told him... I should have warned him that I was fixing everything. Guilt washed over her as she stepped forward. "Don’t cry," she whispered softly.

Olivia nodded firmly beside her.

Adriana walked straight up to Theodore and wrapped her arms around him, patting his head gently.

"You don’t need to cry," she murmured.

Her attempt was clumsy, almost fragile, especially considering Theodore had been hit far harder than she ever had.
