Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 272: Don’t Go Yet
Several minutes later Andrew walked back into Anne’s bedroom, she was still curled up on the bed the exact same way he’d left her before driving to Gabriel’s villa.
When he had decided to punish Clara, he thought that little bit of his rage had been appeased, however coming back home to see Anne’s fragile form and how she slept curling into herself, the rage came back again rushing through him, he suddenly wanted to hurt someone.
He returned to his room to shower, especially washing off the hand he had used on Clara repeatedly.
He wasn’t oblivious to the way she looked at him, nor had he been unaware the several times she had tried to make a move on him, she wasn’t the first woman to look at him that way nor try to get his attention, so it made no difference to him what lengths she tried to go if she thought she could win him.
Right from the start he knew there was a hidden part of her beneath the innocent exterior and calm demeanors, but every human being in the world had something they were hiding, and many lived behind a mask, Clara was one of them. She played a soft and demure character to the world, but it had been quite surprising to see that beneath that mask, she kept a venomous serpent.
To him, her venom was harmless but when she targeted her venom at his woman, then it was crossing too far.
Finished with showering he went back into Anne’s room then quietly slid into bed by her side, his arms gently pulling her back against him, spooning her in an embrace.
With her in his arms it just felt better, as if he could breathe better, like she completed him.
She moaned sleepily then turned as if sensing his warmth and hugged him around the waist. A small smile raised his lips.
This time, even though sleep began to beckon him he forced himself to remain awake, savoring the feeling of holding her in his arms, silently stroking her hair, but a certain conversation played back in his mind.
Something that youth had said...
"Do you know her enough? Do you love her enough to deserve to marry her?"
The youth was a lot smarter than Andrew would have anticipated, there was something cunning about him. Not once since Andrew had walked in that room did he look terrified, and Andrew was aware his aura had that effect in some people.
"Your sister is already my wife." Andrew informed the young man. He hadn’t walked into his room to be interrogated like Kristen was doing since the moment he came in, he had only come because he knew there was no one else as important to her in the whole world as this person he was looking at.
For him she had made so many sacrifices, even signed a surrogacy contract and then married Andrew all for her brother’s sake. Her devotion to her sibling still astounded Andrew because it was n extremely pure familial love.
In the past, Andrew had almost taken the path of his own father without realizing it. He would have an heir solely because he wanted to acquire the company, he would separate that child from it’s mother because had a deep rooted hate for women because of his own mother’s actions, and the child would be raised just as any Sterling child in the family, but he would have achieved his goal.
But when his desires changed, a lot changed as well.
He could see Annelise next to him even several years from now, it was a quiet wish growing in his heart, along with her a tiny version of her and him combined, the thought always brought this strange warmth in his heart, it was strange but it was an immensely nice feeling.
A family with her...he was looking forward to it more and more.
"Then why are you here if you’re so assured that she is already yours?" Kristen asked.
"Because you’re important to her, and anything or anyone important to her will be under my care." Andrew replied steadily striding towards the window to see Anne get into the car and the driver getting into his seat before the car started.
In the past when he made no effort to understand emotions, Andrew wouldn’t know or care how the young man felt. Now he knew Kristen was only worried for his sister’s happiness and was trying to be assured of her future.
"I came to see for myself if you’re truly recovering. To Annelise you’re like a treasure she wishes to protect, so know that you’re under my protection as well."
Andrew had wanted Anne to introduce him to her brother, the person she cared about the most as her husband, but maybe it would have been a bit awkward for her to do considering the real situation of their relationship, so he had come to Kristen himself without her to avoid making her feel caught in between.
"Anne is my responsibility, she has always been." As Kristen said this, Andrew seemed to get a glimpse of him deeper.
"And now she is mine, it only means I’ve taken that responsibility off your shoulders."
When Andrew turned to glance at the young man, as expected he saw a glare in his eyes which made Andrew smirk secretly.
So that was it, he was just frightened he would lose the right to be by his sister’s side after suddenly waking up to find out she was married. He was afraid she had hastened into a bad decision, he just wanted to protect her. Then that means they had the same goal.
"But I’ll propose a partnership." Andrew said dipping his hands into his pockets as he strode back towards Kristen,
"She is my wife and your sister, there won’t be any harm in working together to keep her happy, to keep her safe, would there?"
"Do you love her?" Kristen had suddenly asked seriously after narrowing his eyes slightly at Andrew’s proposed partnership.
"With all my heart." Andrew replied straightforwardly. He never intended to keep his feelings for her hidden any longer, nor did he intend to have anyone misunderstand her importance in his life.
Hearing this, Kristen extended a hand forward for a handshake.
"Alright, I’ll trust you with her."
They shook hands as if they indeed had been forming a business partnership.
Anne snuggled into his chest making him look down at her, she seemed to have gotten comfortable again then went still, only hearing her peaceful breathing.
He placed a kiss to the top of her head, and the moment his eyes closed, he drifted off.
Anne woke up to the feeling of the sturdy warm body beside her moving away, the sudden emptiness made her subconsciously grab onto that warmth before she opened her eyes and realized she was holding onto Andrew’s hand.
Normally, she would let go feeling like she had no right to want him near, but something had changed inside her and she held onto him even tighter.
"Don’t go yet." She even found herself asking.
Without hesitation, he laid next to her and she waited until he was holding her again.
An urgent early morning work phone call had made him try to get out of bed at first, but the quiet need in her eyes had immediately coiled around his heart and he laid down to hold her some more.
She didn’t know why she was getting addicted to being close to him and if she could stretch this moment longer, she would even though she could see the glimpse of the brightly shining sun behind the curtains.
"If you ask me to stay in bed with you once, I’ll want to do it again and again Annelise, sure you won’t change your mind?" His voice was a sleep roughened murmur that drifted to her ears, he tilted her chin upwards gazing into her eyes.
There was a sleepy tousle to his dark hair, an alluring early morning somewhat half awake look to his obsidian eyes, his lips were a natural light pink, when he smirked she watched every moment as his lips raised.
She suddenly bit her lip, her face flushing pink as she made to look away but he grasped her chin keeping her eyes on him,
"Did you get my gift yesterday?"
She was suddenly reminded of the three letters on the keys of the vehicles she had received the day before and her heart skipped a beat.
She felt the urge to ask him what those words meant.
