Chapter 25: 023 Does his wife need other men to deliver clothes?
Ava Walker had never seen this side of Atlas Hallow.
All these years, he indulged her every demand, and she thought it was because he had some affection for her, but now it seemed she had been naive.
Ava stood rigidly in front of the table, feeling as if her whole body was seized by an invisible giant hand, unable to move.
She knew she needed to run, but her body was immobilized by immense fear, and she couldn’t even scream for help.
This time, she had truly touched Atlas Hallow’s deadly nerve, staring in terror as he walked up to her.
Atlas Hallow’s eyes no longer held a trace of warmth, his fingertips still carried a woman’s scent, along with that delicate and resilient touch—it was supposed to be a beautiful night, but it had been completely ruined by this ungrateful woman in front of him.
He picked up the box of medicine on the table, his long fingers deftly opened the box and took out a few pills. Ava had already begun trembling all over, his intention was more than clear.
Watching Atlas Hallow’s actions, Butler Kent expressionlessly brought over a glass of water. Being the Hallow Family’s housekeeper always required knowing one thing: when the master was doing something, he needed to know what was needed next.
"You can’t do this..." Ava’s voice trembled, like a leaf clinging to a branch in autumn, about to fall, filled with a sense of impending doom.
"There’s nothing I cannot do." The words seeping from Atlas Hallow’s thin lips were as piercingly cold as shards of ice. He reached out his hand, pinched Ava’s jaw, and swiftly shoved all the pills into her mouth. He took the glass of water from the housekeeper and poured it into her mouth, then covered her mouth with his large hand, forcing her to swallow the pills with the water. The action was swift and seamless, taking just a few seconds to make Ava ingest several times the dose.
When Atlas Hallow released her, she coughed desperately, sticking her fingers into her throat in an attempt to induce vomiting, hoping to expel the pills she had swallowed, but a large hand pressed her down onto the chair, keeping her from moving.
"Whatever you throw up, you’ll take again. If you don’t mind, I can accompany you longer." After saying this, Atlas Hallow picked up the warm white towel handed by the housekeeper and gracefully wiped his fingers clean.
He disliked the scent of woman on his hands and detested the color they left behind. The glaring red on his fingers was the color of Ava’s lipstick. He preferred the moist, faint pink of a woman’s lips or the dazzling rose color achieved naturally when shyly biting on them, as if radiating the soft brilliance of a glamorous jewel.
Her eyes bore hatred as they glared at Atlas Hallow; time ticked away second by second, and her face grew paler. Atlas tossed the towel onto the table and then turned to leave the dining room.
Ava clutched her stomach, feeling waves of cramps, the pain numbing her lips: "I need to go to the hospital..."
Atlas Hallow returned to his room and found Charlotte Miller had indeed fallen asleep, wrapped in a fluffy, soft quilt, her peaceful sleep delicate like that of an angel.
He walked towards her wardrobe, the carpet’s long fibers absorbing all his footsteps, making the room feel as if no one had returned, and Charlotte was already deep in slumber.
He opened her wardrobe; compared to other women, it seemed pitifully few. Even though she had gone out today and bought a few pieces of clothing, it still looked somewhat meager to him—it was a failing on his part.
He rummaged through those few beautiful dresses, then stepped out of the wardrobe and sent a message out.
After showering and donning a robe, when he picked up his phone and saw the message reply, his expression was even colder than when he had forced Ava to take the pills, exuding a chilling aura.
