Bro, I'm not an Undead!-Chapter 1650: UP The Voltage! (5)
Revia was still stewing in rage and confusion.
She was stowed away on the First Layer of the Empyrean Hatcher, in one of the many delightful dimensions for the master of the mansion and his guests. There were many magnificent resorts. The former Paladin Champion was being tended to by ten Strawlers; it had taken them a monstrous effort to undress her, garb her in comfortable robes, and dip her in the pool of ’liquid flowers’ she was in now, her whole body submerged save for her head.
Colorful bubbles popped up on the liquid’s surface when Revia moved. Her face was, in its whole, a deep scowl. She could hardly relax, even though she was sure that thirty minutes from now, she would be forced to fully indulge herself in the comfort and pleasure; she couldn’t resist forever.
But how could she just fly away with the vibe? How could she simply ignore everything that had happened with Elita earlier? How had her friend, her sister, told her ugly things she never would have thought she’d hear from her?
Wasn’t Elita a saint? Or had she never been one in the first place?
It was so confusing. Suddenly, Revia couldn’t help thinking that everything she had done was for naught.
She had fought and lost to the masked man, only to be turned into one of his odd Undead minions, her properties as a Spirit Warden exploited for a plot to revive Rayn and use his soul to find the Heralds of the Deities. All the while, as Revia had gone along with the plan, she had convinced herself that it was because she cared for Elita, and she would use the masked man to uncover what the Purity had done with her.
...But Elita had never needed saving in the first place, apparently.
She was fine. She was strong.
Revia balled her hand into a fist.
’Hypocrite...’ She might have been calling herself that.
It was weird sensing the warmth of her breath and her blood again. Skullius had saved her from the Undeathly state she’d been forced to endure before she was ultimately sent here as a favor to Elita.
(A/N: Refer to Ch.1391.)
’Should I be thankful?’ Revia’s face softened.
...And then it hardened like stone.
...!!!
Something surged deep within her. It might have been an alert, or something deeper – Revia didn’t know. Before she could find out what the feeling was, she was already jumping out of the pool, wrapping her robes around her, and approaching one of the Strawlers.
"Take me out of here right now! NOW!"
The Strawler hesitated only momentarily. It could sense Revia’s intentions clearly. She wasn’t trying to escape the comfort in favor of brooding like before. Curious.
Harnessing Ju`wtte, the Strawler drew the former Paladin Champion to the First Layer of the Empyrean Hatcher and then outside it, where millions of the denizens of Aigas could be seen, fraught with panic. They had yet to recover from how a staggering number of them had suddenly dropped dead just minutes ago.
...But this wasn’t what concerned Revia.
...!!!
She felt another jolt of that sensation from just now and gasped. She looked up. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Great throngs of Ju`wtte flared high above within the Empyrean Bosom.
...And then Deities and anomalies fell.
***
Fulgardt, Skullius, Quintess, Boron, and Listafelle emerged within the Bosom as chaotically as possible. The fact that the Deities were impossibly large at that moment was especially horrifying. If the humans, beasts, and Sif below them were capable of comprehending what was happening in time, they would have died from shock.
Sadly, several thousand did die from the event.
Between Boron’s foot stepping down and casually crushing so many, and Quintess’ spiking Zu’sse, nothing that wasn’t Divine should have been left alive.
...But Susu’k, the supreme Strawler who governed the Empyrean Bosom, the Warmoth’s Treasury, and the Pestilent Vault, intervened. It was all thanks to Revia. Her nature as a Spirit Warden had been triggered by Quintess’ use of Zu’sse on Aigas. However, since she was safely stowed away here, she couldn’t be mobilized as a resource like the other Wardens. Because she sensed Quintess’ presence growing, she had alerted Susu’k to the possibility of danger (unknowingly), and with brisk action, the Strawler was able to whisk everyone he could (including Revia) back to safety within the First Layer of the Hatcher.
As he did so, however, he felt something extremely strange. Something strange indeed. It was attached to all the mortals he moved away to safety.
What monsters had Skullius brought here?
Speaking of the Warmoth’s successor, Skullius clicked his tongue. He glared at Fulgardt.
’This was it? What’s next? What does he want here?’ he wondered as his sixth Apostle finally finished forming.
"This is it!" Fulgardt was grinning. His eyes fell on the Empyrean Hatcher with glee. He recalled it vividly – that set of memories he got from Skullius. "It’s there!"
...!!!
Skullius saw where Fulgardt’s attention was pressing and cursed.
"SUSU’K, EJECT THEM!" he cried desperately.
But Susu’k couldn’t. Especially since...
"Too late, brat!" Fulgardt grasped the fizzling throngs of Enlightened Ju`wtte he’d just used to bring everyone here, straightened them into a great, jagged spear, and flung them in a clean arc towards the center of the Empyrean Hatcher.
Susu’k was a Strawler with a command over an inferior brand of Ju`wtte – the yellowish-red kind. He couldn’t have done anything to stop something as polished and unique as Enlightened Ju`wtte. Thus, when the lightning spear shuttled towards Hatcher, he too could only watch as it blasted a hole through it – a hole leading into... the Second Layer.
Skullius’ face fell while Fulgardt cursed in delight.
The unique layout of the Second Layer of the Hatcher was revealed from the gaping hole, as was the truth behind its powers.
Boron was the first to say it aloud, beaming.
"Litte."
And then Quintess noticed.
And then Listafelle noticed.
That tantalizing sensation from before. Everyone who had experienced it realized that in there, they could taste it again.
Yes. Yes indeed, they could.
Fulgardt acted faster than anyone.
"Follow along, you fools! This is about as much fun as you are ever going to get if you live past today!"
He rode a sliver of Ju`wtte into the Hatcher, and the Deities followed after him. It hardly mattered that they were impossibly large – the Hatcher gulped them all comfortably.
Skullius ground his teeth and followed as well. Once more, he was back in here, the place of inspiration that he hardly had any time to use since leaving Edagon.
Now, he had visitors.
Beyonders.
