Chapter 1670: Kenno’s Heights (3)

"Oh?" Souran said, and she looked past Red Rage at Kenno. She hadn’t missed the staggering influence of a Primeval Deity just now.

As it happened, the Death Knights were triggered by the surge of power as well. They were more sensitive to it than their enemies because more than a few of them had raided worlds before and fought Deities who relied on Fundamental Barter in a desperate gamble against death.

Masking their wounds with Undeath energy, they bolted towards Kenno.

Araeyn and Ferex made to intercept, but Weaver blocked them with careful bursts of Null Life Essence that pushed them back. He was doing Kenno a favour. The Unlimited Star needed to test the limits of his new powers without being interrupted, Weaver thought.

The Unlimited Star in question was not even aware of the approaching enemies yet. He had his eyes closed, his consciousness drifting into each and every one of the Majestic Territories in his body. Oh yes, he could feel them all absorbing the essences of different interpretations of space and time and replicating them!

At the same time, he allowed the output from the Territories to surge just a tiny bit. He didn’t know how he managed to do it without exploding like a balloon. Some unseen influence hit him right then, assisting him, but he didn’t focus on what it was and where it had come from. No, he couldn’t, lest he break his focus.

Decades seemed to pass as Kenno felt each of his Territories digest the energies and translate them into something they could use. What could the Matter Monster do with all this information?

Kenno opened his eyes. He’d sensed it before he saw it.

The Death Knights were upon him, all of them summoning Mirrors – haunting, violent reflections of Aigas. They caused a great disturbance in the space around him, which was how he was alerted to their presence, but Kenno was hardly alarmed. He felt as though he’d been preparing to fight these Undead enemies for many years.

One Death Knight mobilized its Undeath energy, causing it to rapidly spin around its body for a devastating effect when it finally landed a punch on Kenno. It was a signature move of the stronger Undead units.

...But Kenno wasn’t intimidated. He took his time.

Over his body, a Granted Star Armament was quickly woven, faster than the Death Knights could attack. It was a perfect replica of the one he’d lost, only, it contained no Null Life Essence. Indeed, this was but one of the things Kenno could casually do.

When the first Death Knight’s punch fell on him, he exposed more of his new abilities.

...By standing absolutely still.

WHAM!

The overhead punch struck with all the force of an asteroid.

...And nothing happened.

...!!!

The blow connected, but the Death Knight might have been cleaning a smudge on Kenno’s face.

A Mirror screeched and tackled Kenno while another leaped and clawed at his neck. Its finger swiped across the skin but left no mark. Another Death Knight zoomed behind Kenno and stabbed its sword in his back.

...Nothing happened.

Weaver chuckled, amused.

"You won’t so much as scratch him that way," he said, and he snapped his fingers. Null Life Essence raced into Kenno’s new Granted Star Armament, filling all the arrays for all the Starmations. The Apostle might have given Kenno wings.

The Unlimited Star’s wounds were receding, his body recovering somehow. He finished the process with a healthy dose of Granted Restoration. By the time another Death Knight made to dropkick him, he had flashed away with Granted Warp, putting some distance between him and the enemies. His eyes raced, noting all of their positions.

’The armour was designed to keep up, I see. Master didn’t cut corners,’ he thought, oddly aware and unaware of his surroundings at the same time. Maybe he was just so familiar with everything around him that it seemed tedious to remind himself of every little detail. ’Let’s see how far its capabilities go.’

And then he was gone.

He appeared in the forty positions where the Death Knights were almost at the same time. Each time, his hand poked into the gruesome wounds Ferex had dealt them before and...

"Las Aggrante."

He released Triplefold blasts of Aggrante straight into them, devastating blasts that didn’t target the body but the soul. The Death Knights erupted into gigantic explosions, one after another, incapacitated. But not all of them.

A particularly clever one guessed where Kenno would appear next and rushed in to intercept.

Death Knights were known as World Ploughs because immediately upon reaching a world, they downloaded its power system so as to use it against the inhabitants of said world and the Deity responsible. Nothing was so different about Aigas that the same wouldn’t apply.

The Death Knight gathered mana, condensed it into Nitros, and...

"Majestic Territory Expulsion!"

It was a simple imitation, the sole purpose of it to trap Kenno. A wad of white Nitros exploded out, eager to cage Kenno in.

...But the Unlimited Star might have been the worst mortal opponent to use this trick against.

He reached down and touched the emerging canvas of the Territory.

"Nice try," he said, smirking... and the Territory vanished.

No. That wasn’t it. The space within the Territory was the one that vanished, the Death Knight noticed and its face skewed in confusion. Without space, a Territory couldn’t be erected. Could its opponent manipulate space to such an extent?

"Damage, injury... I can put as much space between myself and those kinds of concepts as I want," Kenno said, answering the Death Knight’s question, three of his fingers pointed at it.

Before he could fire an Aggrante at it, another Death Knight zoomed in from the side and attempted to cleave through his neck with a dark spear drenched in Undeath, but it stopped after striking the skin. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

No damage.

Indeed, powered by the output from the trillions of Majestic Territories in Kenno’s body, all of which were empowering the essences of space he’d been granted, Kenno could activate space to do things like distance damage from him. In essence, the attacks he’d been dealt were going to deal damage, eventually, but at the moment, the distance between said damage and Kenno was insurmountable.

The Unlimited Star could even distance himself from injuries using the same idea. It was a slow process that resembled rowing back in time, but he could also distance himself from existing wounds, which made them slowly fade away.

This wasn’t all he could do, of course. Far, far from it.

Kenno placed his hand on the Death Knight that struck him on the neck and...

WHUUUP!

The creature sped upward so fast that it might have been yanked by something in the heavens. Kenno generated such a vicious push of space between him and the Death Knight that it was catapulted into the sky, past the shattered Rules and into the great Void!

It was an impressive power. Kenno felt his body scream and stretch taut with each effort, but it still felt good. Wielding such power was too good!

A drop of blood fell from his nose.

"Good, good. Show me more," a voice suddenly said as a shadow fell in front of him – in front of his propped-up fingers.

Souran was looking exhilarated, her socket flames flaring like bonfires.

"Go on."
