Broken Bond: Claimed by My Ex-Husband's Alpha Billionaire Uncle-Chapter 150: There Is Light Above the Darkness
The shouting didn’t stop. The photographers kept calling her name, begging for one more shot, one more smile, like they were afraid the moment would disappear if they blinked.
Charlotte couldn’t help it anymore. A bright smile spread across her face, one that looked truly happy, truly free.
Then she spoke clearly, her voice soft but confident. "We will get married tomorrow."
"WHAT?!"
"Tomorrow?!"
"Are you serious?!"
"Charlotte, is this real?!"
The cameras flashed so violently it almost hurt to look at. Reporters pushed forward, shouting questions like their lives depended on it.
Charlotte simply smiled wider, as if she had been waiting to say those words for a long time.
Then she turned her face toward Damon. Her eyes softened, full of love and trust. "This time," she said gently, "I chose my future husband very carefully."
She lifted their joined hands again, not for the cameras this time, but like she wanted the world to understand her decision. "So you don’t have to worry at all."
Damon smiled as well, something the cameras rarely ever managed to capture from him. His expression was calm, but his eyes were gentle as he said, "Yes, tomorrow."
Charlotte took a deep breath, then turned to face the crowd again. The flashes didn’t stop and the noise didn’t stop, but Charlotte didn’t flinch.
This time, she didn’t feel like a frightened woman being chased by the world. She felt like someone who had finally survived it.
"I just want people to know," Charlotte began. "that even though there are times when we drown in darkness... there will always be a light above us, waiting for us to crawl toward it."
Her words weren’t dramatic, but they were honest.
The crowd slowly quieted down, as if everyone could feel the weight behind what she was saying.
Charlotte continued, her fingers tightening slightly around Damon’s arm, not because she was nervous, but because she wanted to remind herself that he was real. That this moment was real.
"There was a time when I truly thought I would never be able to escape," she said softly. "I thought my whole life would stay trapped in fear."
"But I was wrong," Charlotte said, lifting her chin. "Because life gave me another chance."
Then her gaze moved toward the giant movie poster behind them, the Broken Bond poster, where her face was printed beautifully, strong and calm, like a completely different woman.
"And that’s why Broken Bond is so special to me," Charlotte added. "Not only because it’s a movie... but because it tells the story of a woman who once lived in pain."
Her voice trembled slightly, but she didn’t stop. "She used to be afraid. She used to be weak. She used to think she deserved everything that happened to her," Charlotte said. "She was abused by her ex-husband, and she thought she would never be able to stand back up."
Many people in the crowd were already wiping their eyes. Even some of the reporters who usually loved asking cruel questions... didn’t say a word.
Charlotte looked straight ahead, like she was speaking not only to the cameras, but also to every woman watching from home. "But then, one day," Charlotte continued, "she realized something."
"She realized she wasn’t broken," Charlotte said. "She was just hurt, and hurt people can heal."
Her voice grew stronger at the end. "They can rebuild. They can start over. They can find themselves again."
"So I hope... if you watch this movie," Charlotte said, "you won’t only see it as entertainment."
She placed her hand gently over her chest. "I hope you see it as a reminder," she said. "That no matter how painful your past is... your future can still be beautiful."
Then she lifted her ring finger slightly, allowing the cameras to capture it again, not to show off, but to show proof. Proof that she truly made it out.
"And just like Lena in Broken Bond," Charlotte said, "I also made it out." She smiled sadly. "But I know there are still so many women out there who are still trapped," Charlotte continued. "Still stuck... still going through the same terrible things I once went through."
"I just want you to know that you matter," she said. "You are not something that other people get to define. I know stepping out of that darkness is scary," she said gently. "But that’s okay."
"It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to cry, and It’s okay to feel like you can’t breathe sometimes."
She paused, taking a slow breath, as if she was holding herself together the same way she once had to. "But please... don’t give up on yourself," Charlotte said. "Even if you feel weak right now, you’re still fighting. Even if you feel alone... you are not."
Charlotte’s eyes became watery. "But you don’t deserve to live in pain forever," she continued. "You don’t deserve to be hurt, to be controlled, or to be treated like you’re nothing."
"That’s why..." Charlotte said softly, "if you feel like you’re ready, and if you feel like you’re brave enough to take even one step out of that darkness, you can call us."
Her hand trembled as she raised it, pointing gently to the large screen beside the red carpet, where a simple line of text appeared, bright and clear.
THE LUNA LIGHT FOUNDATION
A safe place for women who are hurt, abused, or trapped.
Underneath, there was a contact number, an email, and a website.
"I created the Luna Light Foundation," Charlotte said proudly. "It’s a foundation made for women who are suffering from abuse, so please... Please call us and let us help you."
Over the past two months, she had talked to Damon about how she wanted to use all the wealth she had taken back from Julian to build a charity organization, one that would help women who had suffered the way she once did.
And of course, Damon supported her. He didn’t just support her with words, he became her very first donator. He even rented an entire building for the foundation so it could start operating as soon as possible.
Fortunately, the foundation was able to settle in just two weeks before the premiere was held. That way, Charlotte could tell women out there that they could always ask for help whenever they needed it, just like how she once asked Damon for help when she ran away from Julian.
"My fellow reporters, I hope you can also help me spread this information to the public," Charlotte said with a warm smile, and that simple smile was already more than enough to melt their hearts.
