The blazing black sun slowly faded away, revealing Wei Yang’s slightly grim face. With a flick of his wrist, a dozen glowing fire orbs—each filled with rich fire attribute energy flew out from the ashes and landed in his palm.
Without even looking at them, he turned his hand and directly stored them in his spatial ring.
"I originally wanted to spare your lives, but you just had to seek death!"
Wei Yang’s expression darkened. Though the fight had been satisfying, it had also made him mortal enemies with those two Ban Sheng Lizard.
Holding Zi Yan tightly in his arms, his figure flashed and transformed into a streak of light, swiftly heading toward the Tuo She Ancient God’s Mansion.
After this battle, the Lizard clan was on the brink of extinction. At least at the Dou Zun level, their strength was nearly wiped out—only a few lucky survivors might remain.
Whoosh!
An unparalleled speed cut across the air like a streak of black lightning.
In the blink of an eye, Wei Yang arrived before a strange spatial barrier. His body paused slightly as he turned his gaze toward a certain direction, eyes narrowing before letting out a cold sneer. With that, he took a step forward, and a faint ripple appeared before him.
Holding Zi Yan, he stepped into what seemed like a hidden curtain of water and disappeared completely. Soon after, several Lizard who had rushed from afar but arrived too late stopped in the distance.
Having missed the short but devastating battle, they had survived by chance. Yet, when they looked ahead, they hesitated, clearly terrified of what lay within.
Screech! Screech!
Sharp cries came from their mouths—calls for help.
Moments later, two terrifying auras rapidly approached from the distance. In the next instant, they suddenly appeared outside the strange space and then sat cross-legged in silence, guarding the entrance.
As the world spun, Wei Yang found himself in a dark dimension. Though it was only a step away from the outside world of magma, it was a completely new realm. The world here was shrouded in darkness.
Above his head stretched a vast, star-filled sky. Standing still, Wei Yang scanned his surroundings. A moment later, he finally let out a soft sigh of relief. Those two Ban Sheng Lizard hadn’t followed him in.
For now, it was safe.
Having passed that hurdle, the next step was to find Zi Yan’s father—Zhu Kun. He sat cross-legged and began circulating his cultivation art, restoring the Dou Qi he had consumed.
Although the earlier battle hadn’t lasted long, using two major techniques in succession had drained him considerably.
Now that he had successfully entered the outer perimeter of the Tuo She Ancient God’s Mansion, he decided to recover his strength first, just in case any unexpected danger appeared.
Lowering his head, he looked at Zi Yan in his arms, her face a little pale, and asked with concern, "Zi Yan, how are you feeling?"
Zi Yan wrinkled her little face, shook her head, and twisted slightly before replying, "I’m okay, not that uncomfortable anymore. I’m just too weak. Instead of helping you, I ended up being a burden."
Wei Yang chuckled softly and flicked her tiny nose. "Silly girl, you’re an Ancient Void Dragon. Your growth cycle is naturally long. For you to reach this stage so fast is already impressive."
"Besides, your potential is immense. Now that you’ve absorbed the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit, I’m sure you’ll grow stronger very soon—maybe even surpass me."
"Mm-hmm!" Hearing that, Zi Yan’s eyes lit up as she nodded enthusiastically. Then, as if thinking of something delightful, she suddenly giggled foolishly.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Wei Yang asked helplessly, flicking her forehead with his finger, shattering her happy fantasy.
This little girl—who knew what she was imagining? Maybe something like becoming strong enough one day to beat up Wei Yang and Xiao Yan together.
Knowing her train of thought, that wouldn’t be impossible.
"Wei Yang, you’re awful! I’ll fight you!" Zi Yan pouted angrily, baring her teeth as she tried to attack him.
"Alright, enough fooling around. I don’t sense any danger here. You can get down now," Wei Yang said.
They were about to meet Zhu Kun, after all—showing up while holding his daughter like this felt... inappropriate. Of course, Wei Yang would never admit that he was mostly worried about getting beaten—or even instantly killed—by Zhu Kun.
"I don’t want to. My body still feels uncomfortable," Zi Yan said stubbornly, refusing to get down.
"Uncomfortable? Did you get hurt somewhere? Let me take a look." Wei Yang leaned closer, his gaze scanning her carefully, but he found nothing wrong.
"I don’t know if I’m hurt or not... I just feel uncomfortable," Zi Yan said softly, her voice growing smaller with each word, clearly guilty.
Seeing her expression, Wei Yang instantly understood what was going on. Wei Yang’s face instantly darkened. With a quick flick of his hand, he smacked Zi Yan’s little backside. "You lazy thing! Get down now and walk on your own."
"Waa~ Wei Yang! You hit my butt again! I’ll bite you to death!" Zi Yan shouted in embarrassment and fury, baring her little teeth as she lunged at him.
Watching the girl wriggle in his arms like a small pup, snapping playfully at him, Wei Yang couldn’t help but laugh helplessly.
"Alright, enough fooling around. We might run into your Ancient Void Dragon clan’s elders later. Do you really want them to see you acting like this? Be a little more proper, will you?"
"Hmph!" Zi Yan puffed her cheeks but finally, though reluctantly, climbed down from his arms, her movements slow and full of unwillingness.
"Let’s go," Wei Yang said after taking a moment to recover his strength. When he felt about ready, he reached out and took Zi Yan’s small hand, leading her toward the source of light deep within the dark world.
"Wei Yang, are you sure there’s really a senior from my Ancient Void Dragon clan here? I don’t sense anything at all," Zi Yan asked curiously.
"Uh, I’m not entirely sure either," Wei Yang admitted with a wry smile. "Maybe I sensed it wrong earlier. But since we’re already here, we might as well take a look."
"True, this place doesn’t look simple anyway," Zi Yan nodded seriously. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
The dark realm stretched vast and wide. Even with their speed, it took them more than ten minutes of walking before they finally reached the source of the light.
It was a massive bronze gate, towering and imposing. Its entire surface was carved with intricate, ancient runes, each one mysterious and profound, as if recording the secrets of heaven and earth.
Lifting his head, Wei Yang read the four grand, flowing characters written across the gate: "Tuo She Ancient God’s Mansion."
A wave of ancient, boundless pressure rushed toward them.
Each stroke of those four characters seemed to contain the indomitable will of the Ancient Emperor—majestic, absolute, and commanding submission from all who looked upon it.
Even Wei Yang, whose soul had already reached the half-step Heaven Realm, felt his spirit tremble. He only dared to glance once before hastily averting his gaze. For that single instant, his soul quivered violently—as if wanting to kneel in submission.
A Dou Di truly is unfathomable. Utterly domineering.
Submit?
A flash of cold determination passed through Wei Yang’s eyes. He forcefully severed that intrusive emotion, cutting it away like a sword through fog.
He then raised his hand and covered Zi Yan’s eyes, turning her head aside as he said solemnly, "Don’t look too much. This isn’t something good for you."
"Heh... what a domineering fellow, that Tuo She Ancient God," Wei Yang muttered under his breath with a faint sneer.
"Wei Yang! Is this really the legendary cave mansion of Tuo She Ancient God—the last Dou Di of the continent?!" Zi Yan turned, hugging Wei Yang’s leg with sparkling eyes. "We actually found Tuo She Ancient God’s Mansion! We’re rich!"
Wei Yang just shook his head and patted her hair, eyes narrowing slightly without answering.
It was indeed the Tuo She Ancient God’s Mansion—the final resting place of the continent’s last Emperor—but it couldn’t be opened. Without gathering all eight pieces of the Tuo She Ancient Jade, there was no key. No one could open the bronze gate, not even a Dou Sheng.
Wei Yang had no intention of trying. After all, Zhu Kun’s situation was the perfect example he’d survived only because his strength was terrifying enough to be turned into a guardian. If it had been Wei Yang, he might not have even been qualified to become a guardian.
Besides, even if he could open it now, he would have to be insane to do so. Inside that gate lay a Tier Emperor embryonic pill. Opening it would only be sending himself to his death.
But Zi Yan, completely unaware of the danger, looked excited and eager. "Wei Yang, there’s only this bronze door here! If there’s treasure, it must be behind it! Let me try breaking the space and sneaking us inside!"
"Don’t!" Wei Yang almost jumped in fright, pressing his hand firmly on Zi Yan’s shoulder, forcing the reckless little girl to stay put.
His voice grew sharp, filled with authority. "You listen to me. Without my permission, you’re absolutely not allowed to act on your own! If you dare, I swear I won’t take you anywhere ever again!"
His tone was more serious than ever before, and Zi Yan instinctively clamped her hands over her mouth, not daring to utter another word. In her wide eyes, a rare trace of fear appeared. It was the first time she had ever seen Wei Yang look this serious.
