Chapter 307: Time to advance

But Slya was frowning at the two discs. "Why do you make two then?"

Atrox placed his hand on the blue disc. "This will be for the Captain of the Bind Knight. But this black one is for me, and it can override the blue one."

Slya and Tiber nodded at that.

Atrox continued. "But that’s not why I called you in here. Slya, as the more combative one, you will be the captain of the Bind Knight. The captain of the one hundred."

Slya stiffened, her eyes widened, and she opened her mouth without speaking. She looked from Tiber to Atrox and then again, as if she couldn’t trust what she was hearing. "What?"

"You will be the Captain of the Bind Sky," Atrox replied firmly.

Slya blinked several times. "You trust me enough for that?"

Atrox had to smile. "I trust that you will give my interest your best. And I know you’ve been itching for fighting, but you have stuck to my side. Well, not that you still won’t be stuck to my side, but at least now you’ll have some people to boss around."

Slya smiled at that. "You know me too well."

Atrox turned to Tiber. "No position for you, you’re still my special advisor. But right now, the two of you have a problem that we must solve."

Tiber nodded. "Errant Knights."

"Right," Atrox nodded. "You need to make Errant before the war. I know you have been trying, but this time I’m going to help you. I already have a method at hand. Since you can’t absorb a monster’s core whole as a construct user, I will act as the core for you two."

Tiber and Slya swallowed. It was something they had been dreaming of since when Atrox reached the Errant Rank in the Borderland.

It had made them become a burden, and even though Atrox didn’t complain, they weren’t comfortable with it, and that was why they were doing everything else to help him.

But then, there’s no Errant Knight that could compare to Atrox Soryu, Slya thought silently to herself.

Atrox met their eyes. "It’s going to be difficult. Extreme. And either of you could die. Are you going to do it?"

They didn’t even think about it twice. "Yes, we will."

Again, Atrox handed over the day-to-day ruling to the Administration while he entered the Enchanted Association building once again.

The project he gave to the Chairman was in two parts, and it had been completed. The only part that Atrox was making use of now was a room.

The room was empty but for the formation that had been drawn on the ground.

The formation was that of three circles connecting to each other. Two of the circles connected to a bigger one.

Atrox sat cross-legged on the bigger formation and brought out a small box from his spatial ring.

Slya and Tiber also chose a circle and sat cross-legged, their backs toward him.

"I have come up with a solution. Since you don’t have a core of your own or a physical construct to work with, then you will have to build an imaginary one," Atrox said. "Well, not imaginary since you will be using it like a physical thing. But well."

"Imagine an image of me, anyone, and then hold it like the formation. Already there should be one, since I am your construct. Now you will have to make the image as firm as you can in your mind. When you are ready, let me know." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Atrox sat there in silence. The formation he was sitting on was connected to the central formation that gathered essence, so he had a lot of it to play with.

After about thirty minutes, Tiber announced that he had the image already, and Atrox wasn’t surprised to hear that. Tiber deals in the mind, after all; it would be even more unusual if he didn’t get to it first.

One hour and ten minutes later, Slya was done as well. She was comfortable with the image she created.

"Now comes the difficult part. The image you hold will have to stay put in your mind while you fill it with essence. The essence is directly from a monster. You must keep it contained while you fill all the essence from the monster in."

They nodded, and Atrox began. He took a deep breath and held the two cores. "Get ready!"

Two days later, they were still in the room.

The formation beneath Atrox was lit up in blue light, each word glowing individually, and he himself was covered in a blue sheen as the core he was holding seemed to melt in his hand.

The essence he was getting ran down the formation and the lines that connected it with the other two and into their formations.

It didn’t directly enter their bodies. Instead, it was scattered into them, slowly soaking into their bodies like cotton soaking in water.

But even with that method, they still felt pain. It was as if each and every cell in their body was getting shredded and then filled out.

Because they had no core, they could only draw the energy from the monster’s core through their bodies. That was why Atrox first destabilized the energy.

Tiber grunted. All the veins in his body stood out sharply against his skin, and he seemed to have lost weight. The space around him seemed to warp and twist, and different illusionary images flickered within, as if he was projecting his dreamscape.

Slya seemed to be calm. In fact, it was as if she was not showing any signs and was calmly asleep. But above her, gently spinning, was a sword. A black sword that was ten meters big. The sword had been forged using her powers, as if she was projecting her powers into it.

Atrox, for his part, sat calmly. He was feeling pain, but it was something he was used to. He continued to drag the power from the core into the formation. But his face was tense, because anything could go wrong at any time.
