Nyx’s gaze remained pinned on Alex long after he had finished speaking. She didn’t look angry or indifferent. If anything, she looked slightly intrigued by his proposal.
Alex on the other hand felt a bit flustered but he forced himself to look calm. He managed to convince himself that from the look of things there was a huge chance that she’ll agree to what he said. Once he latched onto that thought, his emotions quickly became calm.
Nyx finally broke the intense silence that was threatening to drown the room.
"You speak with a surprising amount of certainty for someone who has absolutely nothing to back it up." She mused. "Do you truly expect me to believe that a college kid with zero business experience suddenly has the ability to expand the company’s size."
Alex met her gaze without any hesitation. With the arsenals in his pocket he was pretty damn confident of his ability to make the company grow more than ten times its current size.
"I don’t expect you to believe me, Nyx. I just need you to watch me do it."
Nyx placed her glass back down on the table, and this time really looked at the stubborn young man in front of her, who seemed to have this confident spark in his eyes. That kind of reminded her of her younger self. Finally she decided to give him a chance.
"Tell you what? I’ll have my legal team draft you the transfer for the company shares to your name. But..."
Alex’s mood which had just begun to soar because of the first part of her sentence immediately came down because of the ’but’.
"I’ll only transfer fifty percent of the shares over to you." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Alex frowned and wondered whether his ears were working properly. Did she just say fifty percent? That seemed too low for five million.
"That’s not fair? Fifty percent shares of a small company that’s currently being attacked by Marcus for five million dollars seems really steep."
Nyx let out a dry, melodic laugh
"Well dear, life isn’t always fair... You should be thanking me that I’m even giving you fifty percent of the shares for five million dollars. Normally for a company like that, even with Marcus attacks, the valuation is still around forty-five million dollars. Now think about how much your pitiful five million dollars is compared to that. So you either take it or leave it"
Alex clenched his jaw in frustration. This damn woman was always taking advantage of him. First it was forcing him to become one of her people, then dragging him away from his important class, now she was trying to lie through her teeth by hyping the company’s valuation.
Did she really think that he didn’t know what the company’s true worth was? But evidently again, what choice did he have, other than to agree to her absurd demand.
Alex exhaled slowly, then nodded.
"Fine... fifty percent it is... But I hope you choke on that five million." He mumbled the last part to himself.
Nyx’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "Good."
She stood up then called for the manager, who had been standing outside the room, in case she needed him to do anything, and instructed him.
"Have my legal team prepare the shares transfer documents. He will be coming tomorrow to sign it." Then she added calmly. "Oh, and do make sure to transfer one hundred thousand dollars into his account."
Alex’s face froze in shock. The anger vanished, replaced by joy. But quickly his mind immediately flashed to something, causing him to become increasingly suspicious of her motives.
"Wait. Why are you helping me? I hope it’s not to do another crazy task for you this night. Because if it is, then my answer is no."
"Relax," Nyx waved a hand dismissively. "Just consider this as me being in a good mood today."
"Well alright then, who am I to refuse free money when it’s literally staring me in the face."
Since she was giving him money, then there was no need to pretend as if he didn’t want to. He hadn’t reached that state yet, but still, that didn’t mean he had forgiven her for trying to cheat him.
... Soon an hour crawled by. To Alex every grueling minute felt like eternity. He had been desperately waiting for Nyx to fully get drunk so that he could begin his mission, but it seemed like Nyx was never going to get drunk.
Aside from the faint blush on her cheek and the slightly dazed look in her eye, her mind remained surprisingly sharp.
Honestly, Alex would have probably abandoned this mission as a lost cause and embraced his departure to hell realm, thirty minutes ago if he hadn’t seen a system notification of five desired points for attraction.
Though it might have looked small, it was still a sign that the aura was working, albeit slowly but nonetheless working.
But sadly that seemed to be the only notification he had seen. Now thirty minutes later here he was staring at Nyx. Alex took a deep breath and decided to stop being passive and take matters into his own hands.The worse she could do for now was maybe slap him... He hoped.
Gathering his courage, Alex moved closer to the unsuspecting Nyx and used his hand to gently brush away a strand of hair that was sticking close to her forehead. If this were a fully sober Nyx, then he would have lost his hands, but this Nyx though barely affected by the alcohol was still under its influence, plus Alex’s touch made the effects of the aura of seduction more potent, causing her to release a stifle gasp.

As Alex saw the notification he couldn’t suppress the triumphant smile creeping up his face, but a smack from the newly recovered Nyx seemed to wipe it off.
PAH!
The sound lingered in the private room. Alex’s head snapped slightly to the side with a faint red mark on his cheek. He slowly regained himself and turned back to look at Nyx with one hand rubbing his painful cheek.
Nyx meanwhile stared at him with a dark face. For a brief moment, her fingers tightened around the wine glass as if she was still deciding whether to slap him again... But the deep blush on her face made it hard to tell whether she was truly annoyed or it was something else.
"How dare you touch me?" She hissed. "It seems like you’ve forgotten your place because I’ve been a bit lenient with you this evening. I think you need to be taught a lesson for your daring attempt."
Alex opened his mouth to speak but closed it back again. He didn’t know what to say... But a quick look at Nyx who seemed to be reaching for her phone to call someone, was enough for him to quickly come up with something.
He cleared his throat awkwardly.
"There was hair on your forehead, so I thought, hey, maybe I should help her with it. Then I reached out... and now I just got whacked for trying to be a good guy."
Nyx’s eyebrow twitched
"And you felt the need to do it personally."
Alex hesitated for a second before nodding.
"Yes... Is it really bad for a person to help out a pretty woman, even though she constantly threatens him and can be a complete d— I mean... angel at times."
Nyx carefully watched him for a few seconds to see whether he was telling the truth or simply trying to be shameless. But Alex held her gaze and played the part of the sincere, hurt subordinate to perfection.
After a moment, Nyx let out a long, ragged breath and slumped back against the couch.
"Hmph. Next time, keep your kindness to yourself."
Alex nodded quickly to show that he agreed with her. But internally Alex was kind of ecstatic, no he was not some kind of masochist who enjoyed pain. The reason he was so happy was because the aura was beginning to affect Nyx faster than before.
The desire meter at the corner of his mind was proof of that.

The slap was definitely worth it. But it looked like he had to come up with another way of touching Nyx again. Though, if he was being truthful to himself, he didn’t want to get slapped again, but what could he use as an excuse to touch her?
Suddenly a wicked spark of inspiration hit him. One so great that it caused him to chuckle mischievously despite the stinging pain on his face.
