Alex stared dumbfoundedly at the phone screen which had already at some point in time turned black. Nyx? As in, Nyx, the arrogant cold woman, was coming to his home...? Wasn’t she supposed to be busy handling whatever underworld bosses do this time of the night? Or was she really that bored to think of coming to his humble apartment, all in the name of ’Teaching him a lesson.’ or maybe... she’s just wanted to use it as an excuse to visit her man.

All of a sudden, Alex shot up from the bed and winced in pain. If she was really coming then he had to tidy up the house. Well it’s not like it was that dirty or anything but, since he had been in the training world for three freaking days, according to the present world time, then it was bound for the room to acquire some dust here and there.

But before he did all that, there was still something important he had to do.

Alex rolled his eyes before letting out a defeated sigh.

He initially thought about using his injury to gain Nyx’s sympathy, but decided against it. It wasn’t worth putting his health on the line just to get a brief sympathy which might not even happen.

Immediately a familiar tea cup sized bottle with an intricate design materialized in his palm. He downed the translucent, slightly sweet liquid in a few gulps. Instantly at that moment, he could feel his shattered ribs slowly mending and his deformed hand beginning to heal.

After a minute or two, the oddly satisfying sensation ended, replaced by his entire body feeling good as new again. Ah, no matter how many times he took the body recovery water, it had never ceased to amaze him, how potent its effect was. He even became slightly tempted with the idea of using the body recovery water to get more moolah.

With a satisfied expression on his face, Alex decided to take a warm shower before cooking the instant noodles. He stepped into the shower, letting the warm water wash away the last bit of tension hidden inside his body. Just as he was beginning to relax, a sharp authoritative knock suddenly rang out from outside, startling him.

Alex frowned and muttered under his breath.

"That was... pretty fast."

With a sigh, Alex reached out, shut the extremely tempting shower off, grabbed a towel and wrapped it properly around his waist, to prevent any embarrassing accident from happening later. He walked toward the door, took a deep breath to calm his slightly tensed heart, and pulled it open.

A familiar figure stood there, dressed in a casual yet elegant dress that seemed to accentuate her stunning curves, and bring out her ample chest and nice shapely hips. Her face looked calm and unreadable as ever, betraying not even the slightest bit of emotion, but still that seemed to make her already ethereal beauty even more beautiful, if that was possible.

She paused for the briefest of seconds, the moment her eyes landed on him. Then her gaze slowly travelled from his damp hair, down to the traces of water trailing along his collar bone, before finally resting at the flimsy towel tied around his lean waist.

Alex watched as her expression remained indifferent, even after seeing his toned body, which was enough to daze most girls and make them blush heavily. He almost wondered whether she was human, well... that was before he finally caught a hint of red on the tip of her cute ear.

’Did Nyx just blush? Damn who knew that the underworld queenpin would blush after seeing my body... I guess she forgot about the part where she was literally digging deep into my back while asking for more that night."

Nyx cleared her throat and finally spoke, dissipating the awkward silence.

"Aren’t you going to get out of the way? You’re obstructing my front."

"Oh. Right. Sorry about that." He said while scratching the back of his head. A habit he had picked up when he was feeling awkward and a bit embarrassed.

Alex stepped aside immediately, giving her space to walk in.

Nyx didn’t hesitate, she just brushed past him with her usual composed grace and walked inside. It looked like the reprimand she had wanted to dish out to him, had instantly dissipated. Honestly, she didn’t even know what to say now, but since she was already here, it was better she warned him against being disrespectful just because he felt entitled as her man.

"You’ve gotten really bold. Ignoring my calls for three straight days, then speaking to me like that on the phone... Have you suddenly forgotten your place?" She said calmly, while staring straight into his forest green eyes to intimidate him.

Alex leaned lightly against the wall while folding his arms with practiced nonchalance.

"I told you, I was busy, okay."

Nyx’s gaze narrowed slightly with a chilling light. "Busy," she repeated while taking a step closer. "Busy enough to disappear after making you my man...? That’s not even the point, I called you for so long because you seem to forget that you’re even a major shareholder in the company. Where was all that talk about making the company reach new heights?"

"How many times do I have to spell it out for you? I was busy with something okay! That doesn’t mean I chose to ignore everything about the company."

Nyx gaze lingered on his defiant ones for a while before she finally exhaled softly, though her presence still carried that quiet suffocating presence.

"Fine. Then I’ll just assume that you really had something important to do... But I just want to remind you not to use that tone with me. I don’t like it."

Alex was finally getting fed up with all of this. He was already certain that she could do nothing to him, especially not after comprehending the true essence of combat after a long time in training. So right now if he was being honest, he didn’t really have much fear for Nyx like before... But he decided to indulge her, since he still needed her... Specifically the baby faced girl, to test his new skill on.

"Sure, I’ll try to keep that in mind."

Nyx nodded her head,
