Arthur slowly opened his sleepy, blurry eyes with a loud yawn, the morning glow filtering through the grand French windows that framed his massive king-size bed, big enough for three to five people, with room to spare.
He felt enveloped in comfort as he sank deeper into the plush mattress.
Suddenly, an exhilarating thought crossed his mind.
Arthur's eyes widened as he hurriedly grabbed his phone from the bedside lamp and glanced at it.
Looking at the string of zeros flashing on the screen in his bank account balance sent a thrill through him.
Joy radiated from his lips as he recalled how he had made over 240 million Unicreds by shorting stocks just yesterday!
The excitement had kept him awake long after returning from Panterra National Bank; he could hardly believe that this windfall could lift the Osborn family out of their financial struggles.
With thoughts racing, Arthur shook his head and checked the time on his phone.
To his surprise, it was already 11 AM! He hadn't expected to sleep so late but remembered that he had been up until around 2 AM.
After a refreshing bath, he slipped into casual attire: white jeans paired with a blue cotton long-sleeve shirt and white sneakers before stepping out of his room.
"Master, aren't you going to have breakfast? It's ready!" Sally, the head maid, greeted him as he descended the stairs.
"No, Sally, I have something important to do today; I'll probably grab something outside," Arthur replied while casting a glance at the dining hall filled with enticing aromas, regret flickered in his eyes.
"Understood, Master Arthur," Sally nodded and returned to her duties.
As Arthur stepped outside, he muttered to himself about not missing breakfast again next time.
He hopped into his Aether GT and sped away from the mansion toward the company building.
Thirty minutes later, and after navigating some traffic, he parked and rushed up to his office on the 60th floor.
Just as he entered, Ashley walked out of his office.
"Brother! You're here!" she exclaimed softly, her eyes widening in surprise.
"What's with that expression? It's not like you've seen a ghost!" Arthur teased playfully as he flicked her forehead gently.
Ashley rubbed her forehead and pouted cutely. "You've been gone for three days without coming home! How wouldn't I be surprised now that I finally see you?"
Arthur chuckled softly while rubbing his nose. "So what were you doing these past three days?"
"Nothing important," Arthur shrugged nonchalantly.
"Hmph! If you won't tell me then don't bother!" Ashley huffed before turning away dramatically, a gesture that only made her look even cuter in Arthur's eyes.
"Alright then! Can you call Aunt Emily for me?" Arthur said with an amused smile.
Ashley nodded eagerly and went off to find Emily while Arthur settled into his executive chair, lost in thought as he stared blankly at the ceiling.
A few minutes later, the office door swung open, and in walked Emily, as stunning as ever, followed closely by Ashley.
"Arthur! You had us all worried sick! Where have you been for the past three days?" Emily exclaimed, her expression a mix of concern and reproach.
"Relax, Aunt! I wasn't doing anything crazy; I was just at Panterra National Bank," Arthur replied hurriedly.
Emily raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? What were you doing there? Asking for a loan or something?"
"No way!" Arthur shook his head vigorously. "I was speculating in stocks."
"What?!" Both Emily and Ashley gasped in unison, their eyes widening with shock.
"Are you serious? Do you even know how risky that is? And where did you get the money to play around with stocks?" Emily shot back once she regained her composure.
"Yeah, bro! Speculating in stocks is no joke! Why didn't you tell us before jumping into it?" Ashley chimed in from the side.
Arthur sighed, looking between them. "I know it's dangerous, but don't you want to know how much I made?"
"Oh right! How could I forget about that?" Emily said quickly. She leaned in closer, curiosity piqued. "So, how much did you make?"
Arthur grinned and asked them both, "You guys heard about Aurora Technology's news three days ago, right?"
"Aurora Technology? What happened to them?" Emily asked with a puzzled look on her face.
"Oh wait! I know!" Ashley interjected excitedly.
"Quick! Tell me what happened!" Emily urged Ashley eagerly.
"Aunt Emily," Ashley began dramatically, "three days ago Aurora Technology announced they had made a groundbreaking advancement in artificial intelligence, but it turned out to be a total lie cooked up by their CEO to impress investors and shareholders! They've also been dodging taxes for five years! Now they're barely hanging on and under investigation!"
Ashley's eyes widened as she suddenly realized something. "Brother... please tell me you short-sold Aurora Technology!"
Arthur was taken aback but couldn't help but smile at her quick thinking. "Smart guess!"
"Wow! I can't believe it! How did you pull that off? Did you have some insider info?" Ashley's eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked at him.
Emily was equally astonished. "Wow kiddo, you're full of surprises!"
"So... how much did you earn?" she asked eagerly.
"I invested 5 million with ten times leverage so I made..."
"More than 200 million!" Ashley blurted out before he could finish his sentence, her voice trembling with disbelief.
Arthur chuckled softly at her enthusiasm but then added with mock exasperation, "Can't a guy finish his sentence?"
"What?! Is it true, more than 200 million Unicreds?" Emily's jaw dropped as shock washed over her features.
"Two hundred forty million, to be exact," Arthur chuckled softly, a hint of pride in his voice.
"Hisss!" Emily and Ashley gasped in unison, their eyes widening in disbelief as they turned to Arthur.
It wasn't the staggering amount that left them speechless; after all, the Osborn family had once boasted hundreds of millions in annual revenue.
But after enduring a devastating blow that nearly cost them everything, teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, this revelation hit differently.
"This... this... This..." Emily stammered, struggling to find her words.
Finally, she managed to say with a mix of awe and gratitude, "You've done well, Arthur. You've truly made an incredible contribution to the family. You've saved us."
Arthur simply shook his head humbly and slid a sleek gold bank card across the table towards her.
"Auntie, there's twenty million on this card. Use it for the company for now; after our family meeting, I'll provide more."
Emily took the card with trembling hands, her eyes glistening with emotion.
That sum could genuinely turn things around for their company, especially with a crucial project underway.
