Chapter 82: Finding a way to handle the virus

’’Alright, let’s begin,’’ Rocky said in a lazy voice.

Ten elves knelt, bowing their heads while gulping in worry and tension. They didn’t even dare look at Rocky.

After a while, one of them asked in a curious tone.

’’W-Why are you killing us?’’

Rocky rubbed his chin in amusement before walking over to the elf. He raised his eyebrows and asked,

’’Why? Why don’t you ask yourself?’’

With a simple movement, Rocky finished him off with a single slash.

The elf soon collapsed, blood spreading around him. His eyes were wide, completely dumbfounded and powerless before Rocky’s brutality.

The others bowed their heads even deeper, not even daring to look at Rocky’s legs. All of them only hoped they wouldn’t be the next target.

Rocky rubbed his chin, waiting for the system’s sound, but there wasn’t a trace of it. Based on his thinking, if he killed their leader, he should’ve met the conditions to become a virus in this area for sure.

’’Well... it’s not a big deal.’’

Rocky continued killing them one by one, waiting for the announcement. But he didn’t know there was an elf waiting for the perfect chance to act.

The elf kept his head down, occasionally glancing at Rocky, searching for an opportunity to finish him off. Even if his beast had died, he was still capable of killing a superhuman.

(You’ll die, bastard!)

Then, when six elves had died, the moment he had been waiting for finally came. He suddenly burst up into a fighting stance, thrusting his knife toward Rocky’s head, who still hadn’t noticed him.

(HAHAHAHA... I WIN!) he laughed inwardly.

Yet, less than a second later, he tumbled ungracefully as his knife pierced through Rocky, who was like an illusion... No... based on what he sensed, it really was an illusion.

It was the first time Rocky had used the [Clone Illusion] skill since he received it.

His clueless expression quickly twisted into agony when Rocky stabbed his longsword through Harper’s back, pinning him to the ground.

Rocky clicked his tongue in irritation as Harper kept yelling and writhing nonstop. To stop the annoyance, he stepped in front of him and cut off his tongue—even his jaw.

His actions weren’t merciful at all, completely cold, as if he were just cutting up parts of pigs meant to be served on a noble’s table.

The other elves shivered and ran in every direction, only to be quickly chopped down and crushed by Bobby afterward.

’’Y-You should stay away from that bastard... He’s not someone you should get close to,’’ Sadly said in fear, staring at Rocky with a hint of hatred.

Even after facing many humans before, she had never encountered someone as vicious as Rocky.

Alina glanced at Sadly coldly and spoke in a warning tone.

’’I don’t like the way you look at my partner.’’

To Alina, from that moment on, Rocky wasn’t just a simple partner, but also like a big brother to her. If there was any threat to him—even her own family—she was ready to kill them. After all, they had only ever treated her like trash.

Sadly frowned, looking at Alina in bewilderment. She thought she would have someone on her side, but it seemed she was wrong.

(Damn it, I need to flee if I get the chance.)

[300 Days – Day 7: 0:9 remaining.]

Current points: 1510 points

Rocky glanced at the runes ahead before slightly shaking his head in disappointment.

He spoke while lightly kicking Harper’s head.

’’You’re lucky. If there were more time, I’d show you a life even worse than death.’’

At last, a flash of light cut through the night as Rocky stabbed his katana into Harper’s chest.

He was dead for sure.

[ERROR!...ERROR!...ERROR!...ERROR!]

[The number of points in the low-tier area has been heavily disturbed]

[Searching for the threat...]

[Target identified: virus...]

...

[Resetting the rules to counter the error]

...

[Adding a rule in low-tier area: Candidates cannot kill each other]

...

[Finding a way to handle the virus...]

...

...

Rocky blinked for a moment while waiting for the game’s final decision. He hoped everything would go well.

Soon, the sounds rang out again.

Ting!

[You will have the chance to enter the Mid-tier area]

[You must kill the strongest in the Mid-tier area to take their place]

...

[Do you agree?]

Rocky smirked.

’’Sure, I do.’’

Ting!

[Your enemy is...Shawn Stephens] 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

A tinge of excitement quickly spread across his face when he saw that name. He didn’t expect the game to give him an opportunity like this.

It wasn’t even a challenge—he saw it as a gift.

He glanced at Alina, Sadly before saying,

’’I want to fight two more enemies. In exchange, they’ll follow me to the Mid-tier area.’’

...

Silence.

There was no answer, but Rocky’s body slowly dissipated into the void afterward.

Moments later, he found himself standing on an endless plain, unable to see its end.And he saw three guys ahead.

’’It’s been a while.’’

Joe, Shawn, and Cuthbert.

But for some reason, he didn’t feel anything at this moment. It was all empty to him. He glanced around and didn’t see his beasts. It seemed this challenge was somewhat special.

It was fine, anyway—he didn’t even need his beasts right now.

He walked leisurely toward the three guys, who were still confused by the situation.

’’Hi there... long time no see.’’ Rocky raised his hand, greeting them casually.

Joe frowned.

’’What are you doing here?’’

Shawn and Cuthbert scowled in irritation as someone they didn’t want to see showed up.

Rocky raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

(It looks like they don’t fear me at all... I wonder where that confidence comes from.)

Right, the last time he met them, Matt had killed all of their beasts. So he thought they’d be afraid after seeing him.

(Well... maybe that’s exactly why they’re ranked top 1, 2, and 3 in the mid-tier area.)

(It must come from their beasts.)

Shawn smirked, his voice full of disdain.

’’Forget it. Since you’re here, we can settle everything at once. What a pity—I don’t see your beasts here. I would’ve crushed them right in front of you.’’

Joe chuckled.

’’That’s right... oh... I remember something. Your black cat... it died by our lord. Guess you really miss it... HAHAHAHAHA.’’

Cuthbert added with a contemptuous tone.

’’Let’s kill him... we’ll show him the power of our new beasts... let’s make him suffer a life even worse than death.’’

Rocky just shrugged in indifference.

’’Yeahhh... it has to be... a life even worse than death.’’

Rocky took a single step—and moved at a ridiculous speed. In an instant, he was already in front of Cuthbert.

Cuthbert’s eyes widened in shock, but less than a second later, a knife was already driven into his right eye—piercing straight into his brain.

Cuthbert’s nervous system almost shut down at that moment, leaving his body completely motionless. Meanwhile, Joe and Shawn froze as well... stunned by Rocky’s lightning-fast speed.

They couldn’t believe their eyes.

How could it be?

But in truth, it was easy to understand if you considered Rocky’s beasts.

Beasts of calamity rank—even reaching 6x—were far stronger than any ordinary beast.

Rocky’s current power had to place him within the top 15. Anyone around the top 50 wouldn’t stand a chance against him.

’’YOU BASTARD!’’ Joe roared in rage and threw a punch at Rocky, who only glanced at him lazily.

(I got you!...HAHAHAHA.) Joe laughed inwardly when he saw Rocky didn’t dodge. But Rocky turned out to be nothing but an illusion then.

In the next moment, Rocky was already behind him. He slowly placed a hand on Joe’s head before twisting it—bone cracking sharply in the air.

Rocky rolled his eyes slightly as he watched Joe collapse to the ground. Joe completely lost control of his body when his neck snapped.

His face twisted in disbelief and pure agony as he could no longer feel anything from his body. At that moment, he was nothing more than a piece of meat awaiting death on the chopping block.

His breathing grew ragged and hollow, as his brain could no longer control his lungs—the connection between them had been cut.

’’Weak as you ever were.’’

He had hoped the fight would be interesting, but it was quite disappointing. Or maybe it was simply that he was too strong.

Rocky slowly glanced at Shawn, who kept stepping back... then turned and ran.

For a moment, Rocky was actually surprised by that. He hadn’t expected Shawn to run.

’’That’s strange... I didn’t expect you to run... well, looks like you finally got smarter.’’

Rocky scratched his head for a bit before summoning a longbow.

He drew the string while watching Shawn in the distance.

As soon as he released the arrow, a streak of light flashed through the air before piercing straight through Shawn’s back, a painful scream echoing everywhere.

The impact was strong enough to send Shawn skidding across the ground like a broken puppet.

It was quite pathetic.
