Kanagawa Airport.

Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald sat in his wheelchair, meticulously adjusting the green beanie on his head and smoothing the folds of his green army coat.

In his mind, these magically crafted garments, gifts from Haru, had to be treated with the utmost care. They were his hope, the key to unraveling the secrets of Magic, to reclaiming his former glory.

Satisfied with their pristine condition, he turned to Waver Velvet.

"Waver, your talent as a Magician is lacking."

Waver, pushing the wheelchair, froze.

"However, you possess a keen mind, a talent for theoretical application. Upon returning to the Clock Tower, I suggest you pursue a career as a lecturer."

"A lecturer, Professor? But I'm not even a graduate yet. I'm still just an apprentice." Waver stared at Kayneth, dumbfounded.

"That's irrelevant. Consider it your first assignment. Don't disappoint me," Kayneth said sternly.

"But—I-I don't know if I can..." Despite his outward confidence, Waver was plagued by self-doubt. Kayneth's suggestion, that he, Waver Velvet, could become a lecturer—it seemed impossible.

"Boy, how many times do I have to tell you? Have some confidence!" A large hand landed on Waver's shoulder, and Rider's booming voice echoed beside him.

The familiar pain shot through Waver's shoulder, and he winced, tears welling up in his eyes, as he turned to see the red-haired, bearded giant—Iskandar, the King of Conquerors.

Rider grinned, his eyes sparkling with a mischievous light. "So, boy, are you ready to conquer the world with me?"

Kayneth's jaw dropped, his eyes bulging. "Mother of God! A Ghost!" he shrieked.

"Sir, please keep your voice down! This is a public area!" A nearby security guard, alerted by Kayneth's outburst, approached them, brandishing a baton.

"We're so sorry! Our apologies!" The three of them quickly apologized.

——

Later, in the airport's waiting area, Waver, having escaped the security guard's attentions, turned to Rider, his brow furrowed in confusion. "But—Rider you were defeated—by the Queen of Heroes. How...?"

"What else? That True Magic user intervened," Kayneth said, his voice laced with bitterness. Though grateful for the magical coat and beanie, he still resented Haru for stealing Sola-Ui.

He was a cuckold, and the thought stung.

"Ha ha ha! That's right! He tricked us at the banquet," Rider chuckled, scratching his head.

"Tricked us?" Waver looked at him, puzzled.

"He said he'd give the Grail to Assassin. He never said he'd grant my wish," Rider explained, tapping his forehead.

"Oh..." Waver's eyes widened in realization. He hadn't thought of that.

"But it came with a price. He wants me to do him a favor. At the Clock Tower," Rider added, his voice turning serious.

"A favor? What kind of favor?"

"It involves lemon head, here," Rider said, turning to Kayneth.

"Me?" Kayneth stared at him, dumbfounded. He was a cripple now, a has-been.

What use could a powerful True Magic user possibly have for him?

"He wants both of us to work for him. You'll have to swear an oath of loyalty, though. But—he'll heal your injuries. What do you say?"

"I accept!" Kayneth's voice was filled with an almost desperate eagerness. What did a cripple want more than anything? To walk again. A fiancée? A contract? Those were small prices to pay.

"Oh, and—I have a...half-sister," he added, a calculating glint in his eyes. He'd make good use of this opportunity. A single fiancée wouldn't be enough to demonstrate his loyalty to the True Magic user.

As for his half-sister's opinion—well, he was the head of the family. His word was law.

——

Einzbern Castle, Germany.

Haru sat at his desk in a secluded study, reviewing a contract written on parchment, his gaze fixed on the signature at the bottom—Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald.

"Iskandar works fast," he murmured, taking a sip of tea.

He'd materialized Iskandar's soul first, as a test run for the Third Magic, wanting to ensure it was safe before using it on someone he cared about.

And with Iskandar alive, and with Haru having influenced his decision, he'd allowed the—romance—between Rider and Waver to—blossom.

After all, who was he to stand in the way of true love?

"Why are you controlling Kayneth, Haru?" Illyasviel, standing behind him, her hands gently massaging his shoulders, asked, her voice filled with curiosity as she looked at the contract.

"It's not him I want. It's his family," Haru replied, a contented sigh escaping his lips as he enjoyed Illyasviel's massage.

"But—the Einzbern are already—under your control, aren't they? Why do you need another family?" Illyasviel leaned in, her cheek brushing against his, her voice a soft whisper.

With the Third Magic back in their possession, the Einzbern were at the pinnacle of the magical world. Why bother with Kayneth's family?

"Because I need the Clock Tower's research on matter and energy," Haru said, his voice a low murmur, enjoying the feel of her soft skin against his.

Though he now controlled the Third and Fourth Magics, his understanding of them was still—incomplete. He could study them, explore their depths, but the process was slow. He needed a—shortcut.

And in the Fate world, the greatest repository of magical knowledge was the Clock Tower, the center of the magical world for over two thousand years.

But the Einzbern, with their isolationist policies, had no influence within the Clock Tower. So, he'd had to use Kayneth.

After all, Kayneth was the head of the Archibald family, one of the twelve Lords who ruled the Clock Tower. He had access to valuable, perhaps even secret, research.

"Time to rest, Illyasviel," Haru said, taking her hand.

BANG!

"Haru-sama! The little princesses are fighting again!" Kiyohime burst into the room, her voice filled with panic.

"Oh, dear—Elia and Rin—those two..." Illyasviel sighed, a fond smile on her face, and hurried out of the study.

"It seems I won't be getting any sleep tonight..." Haru murmured, shaking his head, remembering his daughters' Energy.

The study door closed.
