Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 401 - 402: Master and Disciple! Unexpected Events for Second Uncle?
Old Lin took another glance but didn’t say much more.
Gu Anxi managed to brush it off and moved on.
She stretched and yawned. "So tired. Grandpa, I’m going to take a shower. I’ll accompany you for dinner later."
Old Lin was all smiles, his mustache twitching in delight. "Fine. It’s a deal."
Gu Anxi sauntered upstairs, stretching as she went. However, while showering, she discovered she had gotten her period. She stared for a moment, rubbing her lower back. No wonder my back was aching.
She had forgotten to bring sanitary pads and had to go buy some. They were at a mountain resort, and although there was a convenience store, it was quite far.
This is so embarrassing. Gu Anxi decided she wouldn’t let anyone else know and prepared to secretly drive there herself.
She put on a black tracksuit and sneakily started downstairs, only to be caught by Bo Qing.
Bo Qing eyed her outfit, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Where are you off to?"
Gu Anxi scratched her head. "I need to buy something."
Bo Qing watched her quietly for a moment. "Let me drive you."
"There’s no need, Second Uncle. I can go by myself," Gu Anxi replied. I can’t let Youngest Uncle find out and skin me alive!
Bo Qing smiled faintly. "Or you can wait here, and I can buy it for you."
The thought of a man buying *those* for her made Gu Anxi give up that idea.
She forced a smile. "Then, I’ll have to trouble you, Second Uncle."
This time, in Bo Qing’s car, she sat in the back seat.
Bo Qing buckled his seatbelt, chuckled softly, and then started the car.
Soon, they reached the resort’s convenience store. It wasn’t very big but had a wide selection of goods. Gu Anxi jumped out of the car. "You can wait here, Second Uncle."
Bo Qing didn’t follow her in; indeed, it wouldn’t have been proper.
Here, he’s just... her Second Uncle.
Bo Qing watched quietly as she went inside. Then, he also got out of the car, bought her a cup of hot milk, and placed it on the passenger seat. Just as he had done so, Gu Anxi ran back. "Second Uncle, can you give me a hundred yuan?"
Bo Qing looked at her. "Didn’t bring your phone?"
Gu Anxi hummed in affirmation.
He pulled out his wallet and handed her two hundred-yuan bills. Gu Anxi scurried back inside. After a while, she emerged carrying a large bag, which he noticed was filled with many snacks.
"Sit in the front. Drink the hot milk," Bo Qing said softly, his voice pleasant.
Gu Anxi moved to the front passenger seat, took the hot milk, and sipped it slowly. After a few sips, as if remembering something, she put the change back into Bo Qing’s wallet.
As she opened it, Bo Qing’s voice came. "Were you hoping to see if Second Uncle keeps any photos in his wallet?"
Gu Anxi gave a forced laugh. "Of course not! Second Uncle, you’re a man of such noble character; how could any ordinary person possibly catch your eye?"
Still driving, Bo Qing responded in a soft voice, "You sound a lot like Mr. Zhou. Are you two close?"
"We grew up together. He’s only a few years older than me." Gu Anxi sipped her milk and then added, "When Father fell into a vegetative state, he gave up his career abroad to come back and help me."
At the mention of Gu Yuntian, Bo Qing said no more.
Gu Anxi continued, "When I find out who harmed Father..."
"And then?" Bo Qing asked lightly.
Gu Anxi turned her head. "I haven’t decided yet! What do you think, Second Uncle? Should I dismember them, or ensure their entire family line is extinguished?"
Bo Qing continued to smile faintly. "What if it was just an accident?"
"It wasn’t an accident," Gu Anxi whispered. "It was for Bishui Yuntian."
Bo Qing gripped the steering wheel with one hand. His other hand rose, as if to touch her hair, but after a moment’s hesitation, he lowered it. After a long pause, he finally murmured, "Anxi, life is full of unexpected turns."
He added, "If one could choose, they probably wouldn’t want these things to happen."
As Gu Anxi sipped her milk, she asked carefully, "Has Second Uncle also experienced such unexpected things?"
Bo Qing just smiled and said no more, focusing on driving.
Two or three minutes later, the car stopped in front of the villa. Gu Anxi saw her Youngest Uncle’s car returning. She got out, clutching her bag. "Thank you, Second Uncle."
Bo Qing smiled. "Go on."
Gu Anxi ran towards the villa.
Bo Qing remained in the car alone as darkness fell. The dim light inside the car made his features seem even more sharply defined and sculpted. He didn’t get out immediately but sat there, smoking a cigarette.
While smoking, he picked up the wallet from the center console, opened it, and flipped through a few compartments before pulling out a photograph.
It was a photo of an eighteen-year-old girl.
She was the most unexpected event of his life.
He gently traced a slender finger over the photo, as if he could still feel the softness and tenderness of the young girl’s cheek from that day. Unfortunately, all of that had been snatched away.
Bo Qing put the photo back in the wallet and closed his eyes for a moment.
Inside the villa, Gu Anxi assumed Bo Xichen would be in the study discussing business, so she tiptoed upstairs. However, as soon as she reached the top, she was surprised to see her Youngest Uncle casually flipping through a magazine on the living room sofa.
Actually, there was nothing unusual about it, but she suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
Bo Xichen looked up at her, raising an eyebrow. "Got your period?"
Gu Anxi’s face turned beet red. "Youngest Uncle, how did you know?"
He put down the magazine and sighed. "I remember the dates."
He got up, took the bag from her hand, and glanced inside. "You went out to buy these."
She hummed in response and then confessed honestly, "When I went out, I ran into Second Uncle. He drove me."
Bo Xichen chuckled. "There were some in your luggage."
Gu Anxi hugged his arm, cooing and flattering him. Bo Xichen lightly tapped her on the head, and the matter was considered dropped.
Anxi wasn’t someone without discretion. She likely had her own little calculations. Since she didn’t say, he didn’t press further.
Gu Anxi went to the bathroom for a bit, then snuggled with Bo Xichen for a while longer before heading downstairs.
The dinner with the Bo Family and their two guests, Zhou and Zhang, was quite lively. After the meal, Gu Anxi went upstairs. Old Lin felt a bit lonely when he noticed her absence. It was only after he asked Mrs. Bo that he roughly understood.
Old Lin laughed. "That child certainly has a lot of energy."
Mrs. Bo was beaming. "Don’t worry, Old Sir. She’s very well-behaved in front of Xichen and is also exceptionally respectful to her elders. Everyone in the family adores her."
Old Lin nodded. "I can see that. She’s a clever little imp."
He chuckled, then disappeared into the study with Bo Nianyao, even telling Bo Xichen not to follow but to go upstairs and accompany his "little one."
Bo Xichen smiled and went upstairs.
Gu Anxi was lounging on the sofa watching TV. When she saw him come in, she shifted to make space for him.
Bo Xichen sat down and glanced at her. "Feeling any better?"
She replied softly, "Much better," and leaned into his shoulder. "This afternoon, you and Father Bo went out because of matters in C City, right?"
He hummed in agreement. "We’ve found those two patients and they’ve been isolated. However, we can’t rule out the possibility that the Jiang Family will create more virus carriers."
He added, "I just received a call from Jing Shen."
