Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 449 - 450 Naughty!!!
Gu Anxi finished a round of games on her phone and put it away without a word.
It was King Jingyao who broke the silence, his voice deep, "Your maneuvering with me is for the Bo Family, isn’t it?"
Gu Anxi didn’t refute it, merely humming in affirmation before looking out the other side window.
King Jingyao’s tone softened. "We’re just having a meal. I think of you as a sister. What could possibly make you this scared?"
Gu Anxi stated honestly, "I fear your power."
King Jingyao’s narrow eyes crinkled in a slight smile. "Quite straightforward, aren’t you? Are you not afraid I’ll harm the Bo Family?"
"You wouldn’t do that!" Gu Anxi sighed. "Otherwise, you wouldn’t have reached the position you’re in."
King Jingyao chuckled. "You understand men surprisingly well for someone so young."
"Well, I have my uncle, so of course I understand," Gu Anxi said, clearly flaunting their affection.
King Jingyao was irked again by her comment and let out a light snort, deciding to ignore her.
Gu Anxi just smiled sweetly, leaning back in the rear seat. She was somewhat drowsy but still managed to stay awake.
These days, with her uncle away, perhaps because she hadn’t been taking wild ginseng, her energy levels weren’t what they used to be... she felt a bit listless.
The car stopped in the Wang Family courtyard. It was clearly the residence of Old Wang and his wife. Apart from other things, the layout and feng shui were top-notch, and the ample sunlight made it very suitable for elderly residents.
After the car stopped, Secretary Wang, who was accompanying them, felt it wasn’t appropriate for him to attend such a family gathering and offered to leave.
King Jingyao let out a light hum, which was taken as agreement. Secretary Wang opened the car door for him, and he alighted.
Then, King Jingyao went to the other side, intending to open the door for Gu Anxi. However, Gu Anxi wasn’t accustomed to such courtesies and pushed the door open herself.
With a THUD, the door swung open and hit King Jingyao right on the nose. Two streams of blood immediately began to flow!
Secretary Wang was terribly flustered. This... this is just too much!
He quickly supported his master. "Are you alright? Should we call for an ambulance?"
King Jingyao grabbed Gu Anxi. "Isn’t she Beicheng’s best doctor right now? Jingchuan, get the first-aid kit."
Having caused the trouble, Gu Anxi swallowed nervously. "Are you okay?"
King Jingyao glared at her. "Help me inside."
Gu Anxi dutifully helped him in and sat him down on the sofa. The villa’s servants, young and old, immediately gathered around, even alerting the old lady.
When the old lady came over and saw her son bleeding, she too became anxious and asked what had happened.
"I accidentally bumped into something," King Jingyao said, giving a subtle look. "Jingchuan, there’s nothing for you here. You can head back. Have the driver pick me up at two this afternoon."
Seeing that the situation didn’t seem too serious, Secretary Wang excused himself.
As he left, he gave Gu Anxi a meaningful look—
Mr. Wang is indeed a bit too indulgent with her.
Over here, Gu Anxi got some alcohol swabs and medicine to treat the injury. It wasn’t serious, and the bleeding stopped quite quickly...
Despite his high status and power, King Jingyao was rather sensitive. "Be gentle. You’re so clumsy!"
Gu Anxi paused. Want to do it yourself?
He fell silent and let her tend to him.
The old lady, however, started laughing. "Jingyao, that attitude of yours isn’t right."
Sons always tend to act a bit more like children around their mothers. He retorted, "She’s the one who caused this. What’s wrong with me saying a word or two?"
The old lady chuckled again. "Looking at you now, you’re acting a bit like a whiner. Be careful, or you’ll end up just like your father."
King Jingyao immediately became quite embarrassed. "How could that be possible!"
However, a subtle change occurred in his thoughts, and he fell silent.
Old Wang was still in the hospital, so lunch consisted of just King Jingyao, the old lady, and Gu Anxi. This was also a measure to avoid drawing attention, as more people would be watching once Old Wang was discharged.
King Jingyao went to wash his face. When he came out, he saw Gu Anxi presenting gifts to the old lady—quite valuable ones, for both the old lady and the old man. He took them to admire for a moment, then said, "Don’t I, as your brother, get anything?"
Gu Anxi looked at him. "You didn’t give me anything either!"
King Jingyao looked at her, unable to bring himself to mention the check.
Her retort left him speechless, and she felt inexplicably pleased.
She initially hadn’t wanted to come. She didn’t lack parents, so why gain godparents? But she also knew that acknowledging this connection would only bring benefits—for her and for the Bo Family.
Not acknowledging it... that would lead to major problems.
So, she accepted the old lady’s kind gesture.
King Jingyao watched her for a moment before saying, "You wait."
Gu Anxi didn’t know what he meant and didn’t ask, simply accompanying the old lady for lunch.
She behaved as she always did, neither deliberately trying to curry favor nor being particularly conspicuous—just the right balance. King Jingyao remained silent, merely listening quietly to their conversation.
The old lady, being advanced in years, needed to rest after lunch. Gu Anxi helped her with a quick health check and kept her company for a while... She didn’t deny that there was an element of self-interest in this, but overall, she genuinely liked the old lady.
Once the old lady was sound asleep, she came downstairs.
Just as she descended, King Jingyao tossed something towards her, which she instinctively caught.
It was a long, slender box. Opening it, she found a very large, old wild ginseng root inside.
Gu Anxi: ...
"I heard you’ve been eating this. I had someone send one over for you. From now on, I’ll have one sent to you each month," King Jingyao said casually.
Gu Anxi closed the box and sat on the sofa opposite him. "Thank you, brother."
King Jingyao seemed a bit annoyed again but didn’t show it. He gently tapped the sofa seat beside him with his fingers and, after a moment, said softly, "I won’t do anything to you. Stop avoiding me as if I were a tiger."
Gu Anxi let out a small laugh, though it seemed a bit faint. She said, "I truly am afraid. I’m not alone. I have my parents and the Bo Family behind me. If I make one careless mistake, it wouldn’t be so bad if it only affected me, but it would be terrible if everyone was dragged down to utter ruin with me."
She added, "In this lifetime, I am determined to be with my uncle."
King Jingyao lit a cigarette. "You’re young. There are some things you don’t understand yet."
Gu Anxi laughed again. "What’s the use of understanding those things? I like my uncle, and my uncle likes me. That’s enough."
"Must you be together, no matter life or death?" King Jingyao held the cigarette between his long fingers, taking a drag. "You’ve been together for less than a year, haven’t you? How did things reach this stage so quickly?"
Gu Anxi replied earnestly, "Aren’t there people who spend a lifetime together yet remain like strangers sharing the same bed but dreaming different dreams?"
"That’s true," King Jingyao said, casually taking a drag from his cigarette. The way he smoked was exceedingly charming, likely a cultivated air of sophistication.
He didn’t say much else to her, just engaged in some casual, miscellaneous chit-chat.
Terms like "Bo Family" and "Bo Xichen" were not mentioned again.
It was as if they had become taboo for him.
