Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 451 - 452: Jealousy! Gu Anxi really has a way!
By the time Gu Mingzhu returned, King Jingyao was already surrounded by people.
Gentle and affectionate socialites, adoring celebrities, and even the prominent figure from the Bo Family, Bo Jingshen, were all present.
King Jingyao seemed to hold Bo Jingshen in high regard. They were engrossed in lively conversation, laughing heartily at times, which made the female companions around them feel somewhat neglected.
It seems Lin Hua isn’t particularly favored by Mr. Wang either, Gu Mingzhu thought. She tugged at her white gown, which complemented her perfectly.
She quietly slipped past them without a word, then demurely sat nearby, gazing at the important figures with an expression of pure admiration...
King Jingyao appeared largely indifferent to the women around him, continuously engaged in conversation with Bo Jingshen. He would laugh occasionally, and when he did, his chest would vibrate slightly, fully displaying the charm of a mature man.
The socialites nearby all blushed subtly.
Gu Mingzhu waited quietly and patiently. Finally, King Jingyao happened to glance her way. The man smiled faintly and remarked, "The dress suits her quite well."
Just then, the Secretary-General leaned in and whispered, "She’s Gu Yuanshan’s daughter."
King Jingyao chuckled. "Is that so? Then she truly is a pearl of great value."
His words brought joy to some and dismay to others.
Gu Mingzhu fixed her eyes on King Jingyao, a certain expectation gleaming within them.
King Jingyao set down his glass and smiled. "Alright. I’ll dance with her, consider it an apology."
A stir went through the crowd.
It was well known that since Mr. Wang’s arrival, he had only danced once with his companion, Lin Hua. Others couldn’t even get close, as Mr. Wang was constantly accompanied by his Secretary-General. Who would dare approach?
Yet now, Mr. Wang seemed to show particular favor to Gu Mingzhu. How could the others not be envious?
Lin Hua, however, remained unperturbed, quietly staying to one side.
My heart is about to leap out of my chest! Gu Mingzhu felt. A man like Mr. Wang actually invited me to dance! Does this mean... does this mean I have a chance?
During that single dance, she showcased all her skills—
Having been groomed by Tang Yuan from a young age, Gu Mingzhu possessed an impeccable demeanor. Paired with King Jingyao’s refined elegance, they made a harmonious couple on the dance floor.
By the end of the dance, Gu Mingzhu felt somewhat intoxicated by the moment.
The man beside me is naturally charming, Gu Mingzhu mused, but the aura he carries is even more captivating. Being near him makes me the absolute center of attention. Even if you have nothing, just being King Jingyao’s woman makes you significant!
Tang Yuan had initially harbored some reservations, but watching them now, she couldn’t help but feel a stir of excitement.
Mingzhu is right, Tang Yuan thought. Marrying King Jingyao is the ultimate aspiration for any woman. It was once an unimaginable dream, but now that the opportunity has presented itself, it must be seized firmly.
Jiang Chaoge’s failure doesn’t mean Mingzhu can’t succeed!
When the dance concluded, King Jingyao gracefully escorted Gu Mingzhu back to her seat. He then resumed his seat and continued conversing with Bo Jingshen and the others, appearing in no hurry to depart.
Gu Mingzhu’s heart pounded.
Tang Yuan lowered her voice. "Mr. Wang’s time is precious. When has he ever spent over an hour at a single event like this? Mingzhu, you must seize this opportunity."
Gu Mingzhu nodded lightly.
"Has he given you his contact information?" Tang Yuan asked again.
"No," Gu Mingzhu replied, shaking her head.
Tang Yuan looked somewhat disappointed but quickly regained her composure. "For someone of Mr. Wang’s stature, if he wants someone’s contact information, his Secretary-General will undoubtedly find a way to get it. You need to remain calm and patient, don’t be too hasty. Understand?"
Gu Mingzhu nodded.
I won’t be as foolish as Jiang Chaoge, Gu Mingzhu thought resolutely, getting overly eager before the man has even shown significant interest. After all, Jiang Chaoge is from a side branch of the family; she simply lacks the class for the main stage!
Right now, my movie and perfume dreams are just embellishments, Gu Mingzhu mused, her ambition soaring. Becoming Mrs. King Jingyao—that would be true glory! How could Gu Anxi possibly compare to me then?
Just as these thoughts crossed her mind, Gu Anxi arrived. She wasn’t alone; she was arm-in-arm with Jack, their demeanor strikingly intimate.
Actually, Gu Anxi was long accustomed to such closeness. Back in England, she and Jack were often casually arm-in-arm or had their arms around each other’s shoulders; it was normal for them. Once, after an impromptu street fight left them utterly exhausted, they found a park bench and hugged each other for warmth. Gu Anxi was only a teenager then. Their bond was like that of siblings, even though Jack later went down a wayward path...
The moment they entered, they drew a multitude of gazes.
Jack was the epitome of a cool, distinguished gentleman, clad in a bespoke suit and bow tie, his presence tall and imposing.
Gu Anxi wore a little red dress with a deep V-neck, yet it wasn’t overly revealing. Her waist was slender, her skin porcelain-white, and the dress’s design accentuated her long, straight legs, making them appear even more slender and elongated!
The moment Gu Anxi entered, King Jingyao was visibly startled.
In his presence before, Gu Anxi had always been dressed either as a doctor or casually in black trousers and a hooded sweatshirt. Though beautiful, she had always seemed to lack a certain feminine allure.
Now, however, her appearance genuinely stunned him.
Standing nearby, King Jingyao’s Secretary-General chuckled softly. Miss Gu has pierced Mr. Wang’s heart yet again, he thought. If she were even a little less attractive, Mr. Wang wouldn’t be so captivated. I know very well why the boss has been lingering here—it was simply because Miss Gu hadn’t arrived yet. Now that she’s here, he’s probably even more reluctant to leave!
This thought brought another smile to the Secretary-General’s face as he, along with everyone else, fixed their gazes on Gu Anxi and Jack—truly an impeccable pair!
As the host, Jack spoke a few words before inviting Gu Anxi to dance, an invitation she readily accepted.
Jack had taught Gu Anxi the waltz, so their movements flowed with the natural synchronicity of a teacher and student. The familiar undercurrent between them was palpable; there wasn’t a hint of unfamiliarity or awkwardness.
Gu Mingzhu secretly gritted her teeth. Gu Anxi certainly is resourceful! However... She noticed she was seated quite close to King Jingyao, with almost no one between them. Seizing the moment, she said softly to Tang Yuan, "Mom, Anxi and that WK heir seem to get along very well. Do you think they’ve known each other for a long time?"
Tang Yuan smiled. "Perhaps! We can ask her later. Maybe they are acquainted. Otherwise, how would Yunxi Hospital have landed such a significant project from the WK Company?"
This exchange, however, inadvertently offended Bo Jingshen, who overheard it.
But Bo Jingshen was a man of considerable composure. The situation was quite clear to him: WK had chosen Yunxi, and Mr. Wang clearly favored Anxi. Others might not know this, but he was keenly aware.
Bo Nianyao had summoned him back to inform him of this, likely as a warning not to align himself with the wrong side. The Jiang Family was finished! And Anxi, without lifting a finger, had caused that female doctor to leave in disgrace.
Bo Jingshen had been observing quietly just now, and the situation was indeed as he perceived.
Mr. Wang had been waiting for Anxi, this ’younger sister’ of his, Bo Jingshen mused. But for her to appear now, looking so stunning... he’s probably not too pleased about it. He is pretending not to be familiar with Anxi to maintain a low profile, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t value her. As for the Gu mother and daughter, they can say whatever they please—it’s their mouths, after all. But to offend someone so powerful without even realizing it is truly foolish!
