Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 453 - 454 Sweet! Little Ball’s Back!
He quietly retreated back into the ward where Old Wang’s condition had stabilized.
Knowing that they needed a moment alone, Director Hao politely excused himself, "I’ll be on standby in the office."
King Jingyao softly broke the silence, "You’ve been a great help."
Director Hao politely exchanged a few words then left.
Once the door was closed, King Jingyao gently sat next to the elderly lady, releasing a deep sigh.
The old lady looked at him, "Feeling uncomfortable?"
"Of course not!" King Jingyao chuckled. "No such thing."
Finishing his statement, he leaned back on the sofa and shut his eyes. "Anxi is asleep; she hasn’t been in the best of health."
The elderly woman was well aware of her son’s situation. For all these years, he hadn’t found a girl he truly liked. But now that he finally found someone he fancied, she was off-limits. He had always been prideful; he must be suffering on the inside.
She kindly advised, "If you’re genuinely fond of her, treat her well and cherish her like a sister. It’s far better than forcefully marrying someone who could later become your adversary."
King Jingyao opened his eyes to look at his mother, a slight helplessness in his voice. "I could never do that."
"I know you wouldn’t." The old lady gently patted her son, expressing her sympathy. "My son, your life has always been smooth, and you stand so high, there are few things you cannot obtain."
King Jingyao just chuckled. "I have my limits! Do you really think I would abandon everything out of infatuation for a woman?"
The old lady laughed along. "I know you have limits."
In front of his mother, King Jingyao could finally express some of his true feelings: "If she were alone right now, I wouldn’t hesitate to pursue her, even if she didn’t love me."
His confession made the old lady’s heart ache even more. But there was nothing she could do. The girl was already taken.
Finally, King Jingyao said, "Invite her home more often for meals and casual chats. From now on, I will... try not to see her as much as possible."
All the old lady could do was sigh.
The night was long and agonizing.
When dawn broke, Old Wang woke up. Bo Nianyao personally checked on him and confirmed he was okay.
After chatting with him for a bit, King Jingyao’s driver came to pick him up. Just as he was about to leave, Anxi showed up.
King Jingyao smiled at her. "I’m leaving this place to you! I have other things to do."
Playfully, he added, "I’ll reward you later."
Anxi was taken aback, responding slowly, "I don’t need a reward!"
"Really!?" King Jingyao said, smiling. "Our little money-lover doesn’t like money anymore?"
Anxi just glanced at him sheepishly, saying no more.
King Jingyao laughed softly, exchanged a few words with Bo Nianyao, and then left.
Once King Jingyao had left, Bo Nianyao praised Anxi for the excellent job she did during the surgery but also expressed his concern for her health.
Madam Bo also arrived and agreed, "Yes, you’ve lost weight. I’ll make sure you eat well to recover."
She then turned to the old lady and respectfully chatted with her. The old lady had known Madam Bo from before and liked her...
After a hectic morning, Bo Nianyao insisted that Anxi go home to rest while he would stay in the hospital.
Initially, Anxi disagreed, but Madam Bo took her home and made sure she got a couple of days of rest.
Anxi slept until late in the morning. When she woke up, she saw a call from her Uncle.
She called back, her voice a little hoarse, "Uncle?"
Bo Xichen’s voice was gentle. "Where are you?"
"At home," Anxi responded obediently. "And you, Uncle?"
Without waiting for his response, she confessed, "I missed you."
"Then, open the door," he whispered.
Anxi jumped off the bed and rushed to the door.
There he was, Bo Xichen, standing at the doorstep with a suitcase beside him.
Without a second thought, Anxi threw herself at him. "You’re back? Why didn’t you tell me?"
"I called Father. He said you were resting, so I didn’t tell you in advance." He smiled, holding her with one arm while pulling the suitcase with the other.
As soon as the door shut, she found herself pushed against it...
After some time, his breath slightly uneven, he asked, "Did you miss me these past few days?"
"Yes," she obediently answered, gazing up at him with sparkling eyes.
Unable to resist, Bo Xichen dipped his head again and murmured, "So... how about we have lunch at two, hmm?"
Her cheeks blushed pink as her slender hands hung around his neck, and she obediently agreed...
At two in the afternoon, Bo Xichen brought in two takeout lunches, looking spirited and showing no signs of travel fatigue.
Anxi, wrapped in a small blanket, leaned on him, being cherished. Naturally, the couple, having been apart for so long, were quite affectionate.
The meal took them an hour.
At four in the afternoon, Bo Xichen made a quick visit to Jiang’s Hospital to personally check on Old Wang’s condition. Everything was normal.
The old lady quite liked this young man and chatted with him for a while. Nian Yao, on the other hand, had left early due to some prior commitments.
As dusk approached, King Jingyao arrived. He was somewhat taken aback to see Xichen and asked, "You’re back, Xichen?"
Xichen smiled. "Mr. Wang."
In the past, King Jingyao had often praised Xichen. However, now with Anxi in the mix, his feelings were somewhat complicated. This greatly aggrieved him; he was accustomed to always getting his way and hadn’t expected to be so smitten by a young girl.
After chatting for a while, Xichen was the first to leave.
Once he was gone, the old lady chuckled. "Look at you. Jealousy is written all over your face."
"I’m not," King Jingyao denied. "Mother, you’re guarding your son as if he were a thief now!"
The old lady continued to laugh. "Alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore. You should head back early too. Cut down on the social engagements."
Actually, King Jingyao had an engagement to attend. Realizing it was about time, he decided to take his leave.
As he left, he noticed that his secretary, Jingchuan, had a peculiar expression. He shot him a quick glare. "Zip your mouth. Don’t say anything."
Daring not to offend him, Jingchuan followed him and briefly described the upcoming engagement. It wasn’t anything particularly important, mainly just some subordinates seeking favors.
As King Jingyao descended in the elevator, he nonchalantly listened to Jingchuan’s briefing, straightening his clothes. He didn’t notice when Jingchuan mentioned terms like ’Mrs. Gu’.
He exited the elevator and walked towards the parking lot, but he stopped in his tracks.
He saw Anxi.
She was lying on Xichen’s back, looking a little mischievous...
He watched quietly, his voice softening. "Jingchuan, look, she has this side to her. In front of me, she’s as restrained as can be!"
How could it be the same? Jingchuan thought. One is her boyfriend, and Mr. Wang, you are... a magnate. She’s only willing to talk to you out of fear of your power!
He remained silent, and King Jingyao understood.
He quietly watched them get into the car. He saw the young girl hold Bo Xichen’s face and proactively give him a kiss.
So, she can be this proactive too!
King Jingyao sighed. "Let’s go, Jingchuan."
Jingchuan promptly followed him out.
