Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 462 - 463: Silly child, come to be the boss of the Dark!
He reached out and flicked her forehead. "Feng Mian is still a man, after all! And men always have..."
Gu Anxi wrapped her arms around his waist, looked up, and whispered, "Think of something?"
Bo Xichen tapped her again. "I’ll entrust this task to you, Dr. Gu." With that, he went to attend to some official business.
Gu Anxi was somewhat dissatisfied and hurried after him. "Bo Xichen, won’t you even consider it?"
He put down the document in his hand. "Anxi, I’m a man. It’s inconvenient."
Her face flushed for a moment, and she just said, "Oh."
Then, boldly, she sat down beside him, a little clingy.
He smiled, pulled her directly into his arms, and held her close. She played with her phone while he read his documents.
Anxi was the type who could go days without disturbing him when he was away in Beicheng. But once he returned, as long as she wasn’t interrupting him, she would become very affectionate, like a little sticky candy—a trait he quite enjoyed.
She leaned quietly against him. An unknown amount of time passed before he suddenly asked, "How do you feel about being removed from your chairman position?"
Little Miss Sweetie bristled. "Of course, I’m heartbroken!"
"Really?" Bo Xichen chuckled. He gently cupped her small head, resting his chin on it. After a long moment, he lowered his voice. "Anxi, what’s going on with King Jingyao?"
Gu Anxi said slowly, "I thought you wouldn’t ask."
His voice was very gentle. "If you want to talk, talk. If not, that’s okay too, hmm?"
She cooed, then turned and hugged him, her small head resting against his chest, looking very docile. "Uncle, I only like you."
He smiled, his large palm gently stroking her little head. "I know."
He didn’t seem to expect her to elaborate and spoke first. "I can’t say I don’t mind at all! But..."
He smiled. "Avoiding him would be even worse."
All men have a desire to conquer, he naturally understood that.
Gu Anxi’s face felt hot. It was the first time she was discussing such a topic with her uncle. In the past, whether it was Qin Siyuan or Jack, her uncle had never said anything. This King Jingyao, however, was subtly putting pressure on him. But he didn’t want to burden her with this pressure, preferring her to handle these matters according to her own wishes.
A warmth spread through her heart. She pressed closer, leaning against him, and whispered, "I understand."
She held him very obediently, monopolizing him.
Her uncle was so good to her, and Beicheng was a vast place... She couldn’t always act on a whim. But these were restrictions she willingly accepted.
After this, Bo Xichen didn’t mention King Jingyao again. To Gu Anxi, he was now just an older brother figure, and Anxi was more than capable of handling that sort of thing decisively.
Later, nothing more was said on the matter. After Bo Xichen finished his work, he took her home. Dusk was settling as their car drove into Si Garden, the sky filled with a spectacular display of crimson clouds.
They hadn’t seen much of each other for a while, so even though he had only been back for a day or two, Gu Anxi stuck to him like a little shadow. Everyone in Si Garden found her antics both exasperating and endearing, and they were all genuinely fond of her.
This was especially true for Bo Nianyao, who needed to discuss matters with Bo Xichen after dinner. He figured their discussion would last two or three hours. Could the little one endure such a long separation? So, he simply brought her into the study with them.
Unabashedly, Gu Anxi leaned against Bo Xichen, playing games on her phone with the volume turned down low, while Bo Nianyao and Bo Xichen discussed ’Dark’...
Listening intermittently, Gu Anxi eventually pieced together some of the meaning.
So, Father Bo deliberately let me overhear, Gu Anxi realized. I knew Uncle went to Africa, but I never imagined it had anything to do with ’Dark’... What is Master planning?
A tumult of emotions surged within her, and she couldn’t help but look up at Bo Xichen.
He was also looking down at her, his expression perfectly calm, as if they were discussing someone completely inconsequential.
But Gu Anxi knew how formidable ’Dark’ was. It had infiltrated every corner of the globe and had countless followers.
She put down her phone and said softly, "Uncle, I want to make a trip back."
Bo Xichen gazed at her, about to speak, when Bo Nianyao came over. Patting her small head, he said, "Didn’t we tell you? The Bo Family won’t use you to bargain for anything."
A sense of unease settled over Gu Anxi. She also didn’t understand why Father Bo and the others didn’t act... They clearly knew who that person was.
Bo Nianyao seemed to see what she was thinking and chuckled deeply. "Silly child, we know him, but don’t you think he knows us too?"
His voice dropped a little lower. "’Dark’ has people all over the globe. If we make a move against him rashly... the consequences would be dire."
Gu Anxi understood, and yet, she didn’t quite grasp it all...
Bo Xichen remained silent, just gazing at her quietly.
After a long pause, Gu Anxi stammered, "You... you want me to take over ’Dark’?"
Bo Nianyao laughed, and the atmosphere lightened considerably. "I told you this kid is exceptionally sharp! See? She guessed it right away."
Gu Anxi stared at them, mouth agape.
Bo Xichen also chuckled. "This isn’t something that can happen overnight. But when it comes to the opportunity to command the ’Dark’ organization, there’s no one else but you."
With her unparalleled skills and being Dark’s sole disciple, it could only be her.
Gu Anxi remained in a daze. She had considered cutting ties with Dark, but she had never imagined becoming their leader!
She remained in a daze as Bo Xichen led her back to the Orchid Room. It was only when a cool breeze brushed her face that she began to sober up a little.
She asked him to carry her on his back; thinking things through while riding on his back always seemed to clarify her thoughts. Only when they returned to the Orchid Room, where she could speak freely, did she press close to him and whisper, "Uncle, why did he create Dark?"
Bo Xichen pressed her against the door panel, musing, "He was unwilling to accept his fate, I suppose."
She wrinkled her little nose, thought for a moment, and more or less understood.
A sense of desolation welled up within her.
"Don’t think too much about it, hmm? It’s not yet time," he said in a low, husky voice.
She hugged his waist, pressing herself against him, and whispered, "It’s not particularly difficult to uproot this Blood Worm. What’s truly difficult is that doing so could lead to the utter destruction of the entire Bo Family because of him, isn’t it?"
Bo Xichen lowered his head, looking at his clever little girl.
His heart stirred. He leaned in, and after a moment of tender intimacy, he finally said in a hoarse voice, "Yes."
If the person behind Dark were to be openly exposed, it would be enough to destroy the Bo Family ten times over. That’s why he and his father had exercised restraint time and again. For now, they couldn’t make a move, and that person had only grown more audacious.
However, no one had expected that a King Jingyao would emerge amidst all this.
A man of immense power and influence.
Perhaps this could be a turning point in the matter.
Bo Xichen mulled things over in his mind. Unable to resist any longer, he coaxed in a low voice, "I’ll go take a shower first. Don’t fall asleep, hmm?"
Gu Anxi’s face instantly turned crimson, and she sputtered, flustered, "Uncle, you have such a one-track mind!"
"My mind, you think?" He gently patted her small head. "I don’t think so."
