Chapter 466: Chapter 467: Little Uncle, I Just Want to Date You

All around, praises echoed. People thought it remarkable that she could perform so well at such a young age, especially without specializing in it.

Old Lin had seen her demonstrate her marksmanship before and guessed she had been holding back, but he didn’t say anything. When Chen Ming walked over, he introduced, "Chen Ming, this is my granddaughter, Gu Anxi. You should teach her some marksmanship in the future."

Chen Ming, in his early thirties and of a sturdy appearance, was highly regarded by Old Lin.

Originally, he had been the heir apparent.

Old Lin had always found it a pity. Chen Ming is an upstanding man, but somewhat inflexible. His position wasn’t one where just good marksmanship and the respect of subordinates would suffice; there were many intricacies involved. The reason he favored Gu Anxi was precisely because the girl was quick-witted and full of clever ideas. Her ability to hold her own against Mr. Wang the previous night was an extremely rare feat.

However, this decision was sure to hurt Chen Ming, which was why he had been specially invited today.

Chen Ming was familiar with this young lady, the darling of the Bo Family. He had heard that she was a genius in all aspects. But their work involved handling guns and was rough; it was not suitable for a young girl.

Chen Ming was inwardly unconvinced. He raised his gun and shot a few rounds, blasting a large hole in the target.

He put down his gun and smiled faintly.

The venerable elders present all praised him and had high hopes for him.

Old Lin turned to Gu Anxi. "How about you go again?"

He wanted Gu Anxi to showcase her talents in front of everyone, so that when she inherited his enterprise in the future, others couldn’t object, and most importantly, to win Chen Ming’s respect.

But Gu Anxi didn’t seem very interested and still held back her strength while shooting. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Comparing their scores, Chen Ming was naturally superior, so Old Lin pulled Gu Anxi aside.

Gu Anxi knew what he was going to say. She confessed honestly, "Grandpa, I’m too busy. Everyone wants me to inherit their business; everyone wants me to be their apprentice. I... I don’t even have time for a romantic relationship."

Old Lin chuckled in exasperation. "Pah! You and Xichen live together every day; you’re already like an old married couple."

Gu Anxi helped the old man up, persuading him gently, "There are joys in this that you don’t understand, Grandpa."

Old Lin grunted. "These two hundred thousand people, are you truly not tempted?"

Gu Anxi replied seriously, "I can’t handle it! Having my little uncle is enough for me."

Old Lin tapped her lightly. "You little scamp."

He then sighed. "Living with you every day, Xichen must be very happy."

Gu Anxi pouted. "He’s over the moon!"

Old Lin laughed, then dragged her off to play some more, even playing a round of cards in the evening.

When the Bo Family’s people came to pick her up, Old Lin insisted she stay a few more days.

The Bo Family came for her every day, but Old Lin refused to let her go, until Gu Anxi felt she had had enough fun and snuck back home.

When she got back, Bo Xichen was in the Orchid Room’s study, going through documents. She tiptoed over and covered his eyes. "Little Uncle, guess who."

Bo Xichen chuckled, pulling her hands away. "You’re being mischievous."

Gu Anxi slipped into his arms, circling his neck. "Grandpa wants me to inherit the Lin family business, but I refused."

He smiled slightly.

The sweet girl held him, whispering, "I said I wanted to have a romance with my little uncle and didn’t have the time."

Bo Xichen clearly felt a stir, his voice growing husky. "Who dates like you? You disappeared for days and barely sent any messages."

She was too shy to speak, obediently hugging him until his anger subsided.

After a while, she spoke softly, "Little Uncle, you said you might not retire until you’re forty. The family needs someone at home. Auntie might not be able to be home often, and Bo Dad and Bo Mom need someone to care for them. If I took over the Lin family business, I’d be even busier."

She rested her little head against his heart. "I want to take care of you, Bo Dad, and Bo Mom. I want you to see me the moment you come home, every time."

An intense warmth spread through his chest. "You’ve never said this before."

Her voice was low and soft. "I may not have said it, but I’ve thought about it carefully. I don’t really have big ambitions. I just want to be with you and protect the people I want to protect."

As for the Lin family, they should find someone more suitable and energetic to manage it. She couldn’t let youthful enthusiasm lead her to take on a responsibility she couldn’t bear.

Bo Xichen reached out and stroked her head. "Okay," he said, "whatever you decide."

Gu Anxi whispered, "I gave the thumb ring back to Grandpa."

Bo Xichen didn’t say anything further. His fingers gently combed through her hair, his touch exceptionally tender.

After these past few days, she appeared to have rested very well and was in excellent spirits.

Something else came to mind, and he told her, "Lin Yuan was promoted a few levels. He was quite happy and even sent a gift for you."

The moment Gu Anxi heard "gift," she frowned. "It couldn’t be more wild mountain ginseng, could it? If it is, I definitely don’t want it."

"What are you thinking?" he laughed, handing her the box. "It’s something a young lady would like."

Gu Anxi opened it and found it was indeed quite an interesting little item. It wasn’t expensive, but one could tell that thought had been put into it.

So she complained, "Little Li and Old Wang always gift mountain ginseng. They say it’s for me, but I suspect it’s actually for you, Little Uncle."

Bo Xichen just chuckled. "Little Li probably intended it for me, but Mr. Wang definitely meant it for you."

He paused, his voice turning dangerous. "What did you just say? Old Wang? Gu Anxi, are you really itching for a lesson?"

Gu Anxi immediately tried to run away but was quickly caught and pinned down on the desk.

The voice of that usually refined gentleman was slightly hoarse. "Why run? What could I possibly do to you!"

Though he said that, he truly did bully her...

After a long moment, the corners of Gu Anxi’s eyes were a little red. Lightly biting her lip, she said, "I want to go back to Grandpa’s. You’re bullying me."

Bo Xichen chuckled deeply. "Then let me coax you a bit more, hmm?"

"Shameless!" She covered her face with one hand, yet her other arm was still wrapped around his neck. Just as they were teasing each other, a knock sounded at the door.

The room was still a mess. Bo Xichen glanced down. "I’ll get the door. You..."

Gu Anxi’s face was flushed and hot. She jumped off the desk and, leaning over it, pretended to be engrossed in a book.

The door opened. It was Bo Jin. He walked in, beaming, and immediately shared a major piece of news with her...
