Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 479 - 480: Provocation! The atmosphere inside is so good
The chief secretary smiled warmly. "Mr. Wang is delighted you stopped by. But look, he cares so much about you. Perhaps you could be a little nicer to him in return? Try not to upset him too much."
Gu Anxi blinked. The chief secretary sighed inwardly and explained once more, "In front of Mr. Wang, try not to mention Dr. Bo too much. If you absolutely must bring him up, just say ’Dr. Bo.’ Calling him ’Little Uncle’... well, that’s too intimate. I’m afraid Mr. Wang won’t be able to handle it." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Gu Anxi looked puzzled. "But I also call him Uncle Wang. Isn’t that quite intimate too?"
The chief secretary almost had a meltdown. "Absolutely not!"
Gu Anxi gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Don’t worry, your boss’s tolerance isn’t that low. In fact, he quite enjoys being challenged. He probably doesn’t experience that often." With those words, she opened the door and went in, leaving the chief secretary standing there, petrified.
Mr. Wang certainly has peculiar tastes.
Inside the office, King Jingyao was bent over his documents, clearly in a foul mood.
Gu Anxi walked over and placed a file before him. "Sign this."
He didn’t look up, his voice quiet. "Is that any way to ask?"
"Uncle Wang, what kind of attitude are you looking for?" She leaned closer. "Just sign it, please. I need to get back for dinner."
King Jingyao slammed his pen onto the desk, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the young woman before him. He sneered, "After causing such a huge mess, you’re still going to play dumb?"
"What mess?" she blinked.
Suddenly, a gun appeared in King Jingyao’s hand. He raised it, his finger on the trigger.
In a flash, the gun was kicked out of his hand with incredible speed.
He remained seated, slowly lowering his empty hand. His gaze was like ice.
Gu Anxi rubbed her nose. "Hey, what kind of game is this?"
A cup flew from King Jingyao’s side, hurtling straight towards Gu Anxi’s face.
Gu Anxi dodged it with a slight movement, exclaiming, "Don’t take it too far!"
As she spoke, a gun appeared in her hand, its muzzle pressed against King Jingyao’s forehead.
Hearing the commotion, the chief secretary outside flung open the door. He gasped at the scene before him.
Gu Anxi is actually pointing a gun at Mr. Wang! She really doesn’t value her life... What if it goes off by accident?
Just then, a group of people hurried over, their footsteps urgent.
King Jingyao narrowed his eyes. "Get out."
The chief secretary hesitated, but King Jingyao repeated firmly, "Get out."
The chief secretary finally closed the door. He turned to the approaching group and announced, "The atmosphere inside is perfectly fine. Mr. Wang is discussing official business. Everyone, disperse!"
Though skeptical, the group eventually dispersed.
Back in the office, rage simmered in King Jingyao. "You’ve got some nerve."
Gu Anxi retracted her gun and placed it meekly on the desk before him. "How would I dare? You’re clearly the one who started it."
King Jingyao glared at her, huffing with exasperation. "So, should I call you Dr. Gu, or Infinite?"
"Either is fine! Whatever makes my dear brother happy." Gu Anxi hopped onto the desk, and the flattery began to pour out.
King Jingyao let out a cold laugh. "Brother? You still think of me as your brother? If you really saw me as your brother, you wouldn’t have pulled such a stunt right under my nose! Do you even know who that Frenchman is?"
"I do," Gu Anxi said, toying with the gun, her tone casual. "Their activities aren’t necessarily in your best interest, are they?"
That was true. The party the Frenchman had contacted was King Jingyao’s mortal enemy. If they had succeeded, it would have thrown everything into chaos.
Nevertheless, King Jingyao snorted again. "Don’t think this means I’ll let you off the hook."
Gu Anxi exclaimed, "Aiya, we’ve been talking all this time, and you still haven’t signed. Quick, sign it, sign it!"
"Not signing," King Jingyao huffed, pointedly ignoring her.
Gu Anxi went over and pressed his hand down on the document. "As an older brother, you should be more magnanimous."
He laughed, exasperated. "This is no small matter!"
Infinite... How many people were desperate to capture her? The number one enforcer of Dark, a name that made countless influential figures tremble with fear and grit their teeth in hatred. Yet she dismissed it so lightly, truly confident she had him wrapped around her finger.
Gu Anxi eyed him. "Really not signing?"
King Jingyao snorted. "Of course, I’m serious."
Gu Anxi gathered the file. "Alright, if you won’t sign, you won’t sign. I’m hungry anyway. I’ll go to Grandma’s place for a meal."
"Are you planning to go there and spout nonsense?" King Jingyao was furious.
Gu Anxi grinned. "Brother, if you sign, I won’t go around saying reckless things."
He glared at her, his expression fierce. Whenever he looked like this, none of his subordinates dared to breathe too loudly. But this little rascal was different; not only was she unafraid, she actively defied him.
Though still glaring, his hand reached for the file. He signed it without even looking. "You’ll eat here later."
Gu Anxi had intended to refuse, but after a moment’s thought, she agreed.
He gave another cold chuckle. "So quick to agree. You must have a guilty conscience!"
Gu Anxi lavished him with praise, successfully coaxing him into a good mood. Shortly after, they went to the small dining hall for their meal.
Those who dined here were almost all King Jingyao’s confidants. They were tacitly aware of the relationship between him and Gu Anxi but wouldn’t dare speak of it outside.
While they were eating, an unexpected visitor arrived at the main office. It was none other than Gu Mingzhu.
Gu Mingzhu had come to deliver an invitation. Ordinarily, an assistant could have handled such a task, but she had insisted on delivering it personally, a testament to her careful intentions.
Wang Jingchuan received her and politely accepted the invitation. "As for whether Mr. Wang will attend, that will be his decision."
Gu Mingzhu bit her lip and asked softly, "May I see Mr. Wang?"
The chief secretary smiled faintly. "Mr. Wang is currently dining and may not be available to see guests."
Disappointment flickered in Gu Mingzhu’s eyes. "Very well, I’ll take my leave then..."
Just as she was about to turn, she saw someone descending the stairs. Gu Mingzhu thought her eyes were deceiving her. It was none other than Gu Anxi.
Gu Mingzhu’s fingers quietly tightened into fists. What was Gu Anxi doing here?
Gu Anxi also spotted Gu Mingzhu. Without speaking to her, she simply nodded to the chief secretary and left.
Once Gu Anxi was in her car and had driven off, Gu Mingzhu couldn’t help but ask, "Why was she here?"
The chief secretary, hiding a sneer, maintained a calm and composed expression. "Miss Gu came by to deliver a file."
Gu Mingzhu breathed a sigh of relief, though a hint of unwillingness to give up lingered.
The chief secretary sighed softly. "Mr. Wang is not in a good mood. Miss Mingzhu, it would be best not to provoke him right now."
Gu Mingzhu’s eyes widened. "Why is Mr. Wang in a bad mood? Is it because of Gu Anxi?"
The chief secretary chuckled. "More or less. In any case, Mr. Wang has been rather irritated by Gu Anxi lately. The mere sight of her infuriates him!"
His words weren’t entirely untrue. Mr. Wang had indeed been furious—furious enough to draw his gun.
