Chapter 567: Chapter 568: My child is thin and frail, it’s not her fault

Upon hearing this, Min Xin knew that King Jingyao was helping cover things up.

He sneered, "Then I suppose we should ask her what she was doing."

King Jingyao chuckled lightly. "You’re just saying that out of anger! If you don’t trust the little brat’s words, do you not trust mine either? She was with me all afternoon drinking tea. How could she possibly have had time to sneak over to your place? Besides, our girl is still young and fragile, all skin and bones. Zhou Yu is a grown man. How could she possibly have the strength to take him away?"

After finishing, the elder brother, with the full demeanor of a superior, patted Min Xin’s shoulder. "I understand how you feel, but this really has nothing to do with that little brat."

King Jingyao was both coaxing and pressuring, not hesitating to use his status to lean on him. Min Xin knew it would be pointless to continue arguing.

However, he couldn’t help but retort, "Skinny and frail? Fragile? Jingyao, it seems you don’t really know your ’beloved sister’ very well."

He kicked something small on the ground. "She shot a hole through this."

King Jingyao looked down to see a small USB drive with a hole punched clean through it.

Looking up, he laughed, "This kid’s luck is certainly something else!"

Min Xin, seething with suppressed fury, swept his gaze over Chen Ming and the others. "Pack up!"

Chen Ming scratched his head, then looked over at Gu Anxi. Gu Anxi winked at him, and he walked off, chuckling to himself. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

He wanted to ask Anxi how she’d practiced that impressive move from earlier!

Anxi’s wink clearly meant: I’ll teach you later.

Chen Ming got into the car, thoroughly satisfied, while Min Xin’s expression was stormy. He took a step forward. "Gu Anxi, if I find out you were behind this, I will personally skin you alive."

"Is that a threat or intimidation?" Gu Anxi smiled mischievously, then turned to King Jingyao. "Elder Brother, someone wants to skin me alive."

King Jingyao had come out this late to clean up her mess, and he was still fuming. "Your hide isn’t worth a dime!" he snorted.

Then, turning to Min Xin, he said, "Zhou Yu is a grown man, and he left the villa on his own. He should be in no danger. Why don’t you go home and wait? Perhaps you’ll hear something soon."

Min Xin naturally understood the implication in King Jingyao’s words, but he was powerless. With King Jingyao backing that little hellion, she truly dared to cause any trouble she pleased.

Ultimately, Min Xin had to withdraw, leaving with great reluctance.

As soon as he was gone, King Jingyao felt his temper about to explode. However, considering they were on someone else’s territory, he restrained himself. After a moment, he calmly addressed Mr. and Mrs. Bo, "The old folks want to see her. I’ll take her back with me and send her over later."

The Bo couple were astute individuals; they knew their child was in for a scolding. But what their kid had done today was indeed significant, so a reprimand from her elder brother was warranted.

Thus, Bo Nianyao said politely, "That would be excellent. We’ll trouble you then, Jingyao, to bring our little one back later."

He paused, then added, "Children can be thoughtless. It’s not unheard of for them to get caught up in playing and lose track of time."

King Jingyao detected the note of protectiveness in his words and shot a look at the little troublemaker.

Hah, she has everyone, young and old, wrapped around her little finger. She really thinks she can get away with anything!

With a beaming smile, he ushered Gu Anxi into the car. The little minx tried to stall. "Why don’t we wait for Little Uncle to get back before we go?"

Her elder brother merely snorted. "The old madam wants to see only you today."

The little minx ducked her head.

Mr. and Mrs. Bo watched the car disappear into the distance, both sighing.

Bo Nianyao whispered, "She might not die, but she’s bound to lose a layer of skin over this."

Mrs. Bo chimed in, "She’ll probably be completely crestfallen when she returns."

Bo Nianyao straightened up. "Let’s head back. If the sky falls, there’s someone to take care of it for her."

Mrs. Bo said, "Indeed! Our child is truly capable and resourceful."

She paused, then smiled mysteriously. "That Min Xin, I’ve observed, is clearly all bark and no bite, just putting up a front."

Bo Nianyao glanced at his wife and stroked his chin. "Ah, young people!"

...

Once in King Jingyao’s car, Gu Anxi realized the Secretary-General was also present, dressed formally as if he had come straight from an official event.

As soon as she settled in, the Secretary-General smiled and subtly reminded her, "Mr. Wang left an important meeting to come here directly. He hasn’t eaten anything yet at this hour."

Gu Anxi huddled in a corner of the car, mumbled "Oh," and then tugged at her elder brother’s sleeve. "I’ll have dinner with you later!"

King Jingyao snatched the corner of his clothing back and scoffed, "Just seeing you makes me lose my appetite. How could I possibly eat?"

With the driver present, it wasn’t the place to talk, so he said no more.

When they reached his private office, Gu Anxi stood like a chastened schoolgirl, facing her elder brother’s towering rage. The paintings on the wall seemed to rattle from the force of his voice.

"How much nerve do you have! You actually dared to sneak into Min Xin’s house! If you were a man, you know, with Min Xin’s temper, he would have... chopped you into pieces!" her elder brother roared. "Don’t you understand? The only thing holding him back is Zhou Yu! Now that you’ve spirited Zhou Yu away, that guy is liable to go completely berserk!"

"If I hadn’t arrived when I did today, he really would have dared to search the Bo residence."

"Did you actually think you could have a real, all-out fight in broad daylight?"

"Countless eyes are watching outside, you little brat! Your elder brother’s position is already a hot seat, and you still stir up this kind of trouble for me! Do you have any idea how badly Min Xin wants to take my place?"

"If I weren’t in this position, with you causing chaos left and right, who would clean up your messes?"

As King Jingyao spoke, his eyes reddened. With every furious word, the little minx trembled—a perfect performance of fear.

King Jingyao’s anger flared at the sight. "Stop that act! You, with your heaven-defying audacity, you’re scared?"

"I am," the little minx whimpered, tugging at his sleeve. "Alright, don’t be angry anymore!"

The great personage was not appeased and let out another roar.

Gu Anxi mumbled, "I’m hungry."

"You brat! You... what... you’re hungry?" King Jingyao glared at her fiercely. "Hunger won’t kill you!"

Yet, he turned to the Secretary-General and said briskly, "Go get a few dishes. Nothing too rich."

The Secretary-General suppressed a laugh. "Very well, I’ll get some dishes that Anxi enjoys!"
