Chapter 635: Chapter 636: Bo Qing

Over the phone, Feng Mian was stunned for a moment before murmuring, "I know."

But he just wanted to try; maybe Fengxi could come back.

After hanging up, he sat alone on the sofa, the watch he often used to wear resting beside his hand. The night was quiet, and he felt a little lonely.

「Si Garden.」

Gu Anxi stared at the screen in surprise. "Fengxi’s main system has been established?"

Bo Xichen gently pulled her to sit down and smiled faintly. "Yes. Seeing you cry so hard, I thought it would be better to get her established as soon as possible."

Gu Anxi murmured an "Oh" and pressed a key. Fengxi’s voice sounded: "Ready to execute task."

It was the same voice, but it carried no emotion, offered no form of address, and certainly didn’t recognize Bo Xichen’s little baby anymore. Gu Anxi stared blankly at the screen, her lips pursed.

Bo Xichen patted her shoulder. "This isn’t something that can be fixed overnight. Alright, let’s go to bed first."

They could only take things slowly.

Gu Anxi tilted her head up to look at Bo Xichen. "Fengxi will come back, right?"

He gently stroked her small head again. "She will."

She leaned into his embrace and whispered, "I feel like she’ll come back."

The two of them leaned against each other quietly, and eventually, neither spoke another word.

In the dead of night, someone stood outside Si Garden. A new security system had been activated, and he could no longer get in.

He wore a dark, soap-colored robe, his figure slender and distinguished. His handsome, resolute face showed no emotion, but his tightly clenched fists betrayed his inner turmoil.

From the darkness, another tall, slender figure emerged. His voice was slightly hoarse. "Second Uncle."

Bo Qing was startled; he hadn’t even noticed Bo Xichen’s approach. Yet, the corners of his mouth curved up slightly. "Xichen, your cultivation level is much higher than your father’s."

Bo Xichen lowered his gaze and chuckled softly. "Second Uncle, are you not even willing to call him ’Big Brother’ anymore? Do you truly hate Father that much? Enough to let Anxi become a sacrifice and have the Bo Family be buried along with your resentment?"

Bo Qing’s gaze was sharp and cold. "I have no intention of going against Anxi."

"You will, sooner or later," Bo Xichen said, slowly walking up to Bo Qing. "Second Uncle, perhaps it would be more fitting if I called you Dark?"

Bo Qing’s voice was strained with control. "The doctor who saved Anxi back then... was it you?"

Bo Xichen smiled. "Indeed. It was me."

Bo Qing began to laugh. "She was my most capable subordinate, Infinite. Xichen, are you still determined to be with her? Aren’t you afraid that if this news gets out, it will be detrimental to the Bo Family?"

Bo Xichen’s gaze flickered. "As long as members of the Bo Family exist, the Bo Family itself exists. If Anxi is in danger, the Bo Family will naturally devote all its strength to protect her, and her alone. Just as Second Uncle is also a member of the Bo Family. If Second Uncle is willing to turn back, the Bo Family is also willing to protect you, and you alone."

He paused for a moment. "Father has always missed you, Second Uncle."

Bo Qing froze, then after a moment, he sneered. "How could he miss me? He is the lofty and revered Family Head of the Bo Family. How could he miss someone as insignificant as me?"

"We are both descendants of the Bo Family! Why does he possess supreme power, destined from birth to be the Family Head, while I am merely an illegitimate son who cannot see the light of day? To the public, it was announced I was adopted. People always looked at me strangely, always with pity in their eyes, even though he and I share the same origins!" Bo Qing was unusually agitated now. "I refuse to accept it! I defy it! I founded Dark! The powerful and noble of Beicheng are at my beck and call! These foolish people worship me as if I were a god! I have witnessed the greatest joke under heaven!"

As Bo Qing spoke with fiery indignation, he failed to notice another figure slowly emerging from the shadows.

It was none other than Bo Nianyao.

Bo Nianyao wore a black long gown similar to Bo Qing’s, but Bo Nianyao’s always had an old-fashioned air, while Bo Qing’s appeared much more stylish, likely due to their age difference.

The moment Bo Nianyao appeared, Bo Qing’s eyes reddened. "You actually came out! How dare you come out!"

Bo Nianyao’s expression was calm as usual. "Bo Qing."

He looked at Bo Qing with great affection, as one would look at a younger brother. "Your sister-in-law mentioned you haven’t been home for many days. She’s been constantly worried about you."

The red in Bo Qing’s eyes deepened. "Cut the false pleasantries, Bo Nianyao! Shouldn’t you be pleased?"

Bo Nianyao smiled faintly. "Bo Qing, you grew up in this family. Have I ever mistreated you? Your sister-in-law, especially, has treated you well. Bo Jin also considers you her younger brother, and Xichen holds you in high respect. Does the judgment in outsiders’ eyes truly mean more than all of this?"

Bo Qing’s fingers clenched. "You stand so high and mighty. How could you possibly understand what it feels like to live under another’s roof, dependent on their charity?"

Just then, Lin Yun appeared from somewhere, her voice sharp. "Isn’t this your home? Bo Qing, to say such a thing is utterly shameless!"

Bo Qing looked at the three members of the Bo Family—Bo Nianyao, Lin Yun, and Bo Xichen—and took a step back. "What is the meaning of this? Is Anxi coming too?"

Lin Yun sneered. "Anxi was nearly killed by your junior martial sister! Bo Qing, you wallow in your own perceived misery, but to the Bo Family, you are nothing but a heartless and treacherous person!

"When I married into the Bo Family, you were less than ten years old. How could I have known you harbored such malicious thoughts even then? If I had known, I would have thrown you into the river myself! It would have been better to dirty my own hands and spare the world from your current self-pitying laments, where you act as if everyone owes you something!

"What does my precious An An owe you? You caused her death once, and now you’re trying again! In your heart, does everyone in the world owe you an apology?"

Bo Nianyao tried to interrupt, "Lin Yun!"

But Lin Yun couldn’t be stopped. The mere thought that her precious An An had almost lost her life made her want to tear Bo Qing apart. She continued to sneer, "You can’t stand Nianyao, you hate him, but what did he ever do wrong? Was it his fault that his mother was of noble birth and gave birth to him? It was clearly the Old Master’s mistake, having you with some disreputable woman! So why is all the blame pinned on Nianyao?

"Hah! The Old Master in the family couldn’t face his own father’s error, so instead, he handed you over to Nianyao to raise. You were only three or four years old when you came to Nianyao. He was still an unmarried young man, yet he had to take on the burden of raising you, this ’oil bottle’ dragging him down! People even mistakenly thought you were his son!

"Bo Qing, you are truly ungrateful to the core! The ’Big Brother’ whom you’ve always jealously hated is, in terms of generational standing, actually junior to you, yet he was the one who had to raise you! And after you grew up, you plotted against him and tried to harm him! Tell me, shouldn’t I have just drowned you in a toilet back then?"
