Chapter 663: Chapter 664: How Could the Chu Family Help Gu Anxi

Gu Anxi smiled faintly at Min Xin. Min Xin watched her skeptically, but she said nothing and quickly left.

After she had gone, Min Xin pondered for a moment before asking, "Wang Yuan, what do you think?"

It was tough for Wang Yuan to reply. He thought for a bit before finally saying, "That’s a tough one to call. Given the current situation in South Africa, the Jiang Family will certainly side with Bo Qing. As for the other one, the Chu Family, Chu Changhe seems like a spineless fellow to me. Since inheriting the family business, I haven’t seen any notable achievements from him. Externally, he hasn’t voiced any significant opinions and seems very easy to manipulate."

Min Xin nodded. "That’s my impression as well."

He paused before adding, "But judging by that little rascal’s attitude, it seems she doesn’t take those families seriously. Even if Gu Yuanshan is on her side now, the Jiang and Chu Families are still in other people’s hands!"

He continued, "It’s possible she thinks that having a good relationship with the Chu siblings will get her the Chu Family’s support!"

Saying this, he turned his head. Wang Yuan had a peculiar expression.

Min Xin smiled faintly. "Something wrong with your expression?"

Wang Yuan leaned in to whisper, "Well, I did hear something interesting."

Min Xin eyed him.

Wang Yuan lowered his voice. "The Chu Family’s Chu Yan was adopted. Her birth circumstances weren’t good, and her biological mother is Mrs. Chu’s sworn enemy. She did quite a number of things to harm Mrs. Chu in the past. Now, Chu Ci and Chu Yan have gotten close, but Mrs. Chu doesn’t know about it."

"Is that so?" Min Xin looked intrigued.

Wang Yuan nodded emphatically. "Yes, almost everyone in Beicheng knows by now. After all, Chu Ci is a celebrity; every move he makes attracts a lot of attention."

Min Xin smirked. "If Mrs. Chu finds out, she might skin Chu Ci alive."

Wang Yuan whispered, "Not really. I think she might force them to break up. She’d be reluctant to blame her own son; she’d pin it all on the child born of that vixen."

Min Xin brought the conversation back on track. "In any case, Chu Changhe won’t stand by and watch the Chu Family fall. So, when Bo Qing returns, the Bo Family is bound to change hands."

He sighed. "Bo Nianyao isn’t bad, though. Always been conscientious and done a good job."

Wang Yuan shared the sentiment. "Indeed. Mr. Bo is a man of great dignity."

He then added thoughtfully, "But I still feel Little Gu always finds a way."

Min Xin shot him a look. "You’re thinking too highly of her. She’s not a goddess."

Wang Yuan scratched his head. "You’re right."

Min Xin took an experienced drag from his cigarette. "We’ll see. The situation is getting murkier and worsening by the day."

He suddenly felt an urge to send Zhou Yu abroad earlier than planned; it was no longer safe in the country. He voiced this thought, and Wang Yuan couldn’t help but ask, "What about you?"

Min Xin responded with a faint smile, "What about me? You think I can just leave?"

Wang Yuan, after some thought, suggested, "Why don’t you just retire now? It’s about time..."

Min Xin interrupted him, "You really underestimate me! What would I become if I retreated now? A coward? Besides, I’m going to be a father soon."

Saying this, he delivered a rather heroic statement: "As long as Beicheng stands, I stand. Even if Beicheng falls, I won’t leave."

Wang Yuan still tried to persuade him. "The top experts are gone, and Bo Qing is gradually encroaching on Beicheng..."

Min Xin looked at him. "Clock out. Go to Zhou Yu’s place!"

Wang Yuan saw the look on his face and had a startling thought: Min Xin seemed to have made some kind of decision!

Min Xin continued, "Wang Yuan, you’ve been with me for over twenty years. It’s not too late for you to leave now."

Wang Yuan was stunned. "Mr. Min," he said earnestly, clenching his fists, "what kind of person do you take me for, Wang Yuan? My loyalty to you is unwavering..." He followed this with a torrent of flattering words.

Min Xin glanced at him. "Alright, alright. You think I don’t know about the five million you got from Gu Anxi!"

Wang Yuan’s mouth fell open. "What... what five million?"

Min Xin chuckled. "Not being honest now, are we?"

Wang Yuan scratched his head. "I can’t quite recall."

Fortunately, Min Xin didn’t seem inclined to press the issue. "Forget it. I’m not going to do anything to you."

Since the cat was out of the bag, Wang Yuan coughed lightly and asked, "How did you find out? I was very careful."

Min Xin exhaled a ring of smoke. "You’re always speaking up for her. Do you take me for an idiot?"

With that, he aimed a kick at Wang Yuan, who immediately yelped in exaggerated pain. Min Xin couldn’t listen to it anymore. "Enough, enough! Stop faking and get back to work."

Wang Yuan smoothed his expression. "Alright, I’ll get to it."

Min Xin’s voice dropped lower. "Take care of yourself."

Wang Yuan grunted in acknowledgment and retreated.

Min Xin remained seated, smoking. He mulled over many things, and eventually, a smile touched his lips. Having a child really did change a man.

By the time he left work, it was already late. He got into his car and instructed the driver to head straight to Zhou Yu’s villa.

She was living there, protected by a dozen men he had assigned. The Zhou Family wasn’t exactly welcoming whenever he visited. Zhou’s mother, in particular, found his presence distressing.

Min Xin got out of the car, clutching his chest where he’d been injured. "Mom," he asked gently, "is Zhou Yu in?"

Zhou’s mother, a woman of considerable poise, smiled gently. "She’s upstairs. Would you like to see her?"

Min Xin grunted. "There’s something I need to discuss with her."

Though Zhou’s mother clearly disliked him, she knew she’d have to see him occasionally since Zhou Yu was carrying his child. Thus, she maintained a veneer of civility. "I’ll go upstairs and call her," she said.

Min Xin sat on the sofa downstairs. Zhou’s father, however, had someone pour him a cup of tea and asked with mild concern, "Your injury hasn’t fully healed. Why did you leave the hospital?"
