Chapter 729: Chapter 730: I’m not leaving! I’m not leaving either!

Min Xin quietly looked at Zhou Yu.

Suddenly, Zhou Yu said, "I’m not leaving. I want to stay."

Father Zhou frowned. Mother Zhou then said, "Zhou Yu, you’re not a child anymore, and you’re pregnant. Regardless of who the father is, this child is still a descendant of our Zhou Family."

Hearing this made Min Xin uncomfortable.

However, he just touched his nose and didn’t say anything else.

Mother Zhou added, "No matter what, we just want you and the baby to be safe."

Zhou Yu lowered her head, looking somewhat vulnerable. Just as they thought she had changed her mind, Zhou Yu said in a soft voice, "I’m not leaving."

"Zhou Yu," Min Xin furrowed his brows. "Will you listen to me, please?"

Zhou Yu smiled faintly. "Anxi traded her life for mine and the baby’s. Beicheng is not safe right now, and Anxi hasn’t returned yet, so I will stay and wait for her."

Min Xin wanted to persuade her but didn’t know what to say. He moved far away and lit a cigarette.

Zhou Yu spoke firmly, "I didn’t know what I was living for before, but now I do. I can’t live just for myself."

Min Xin said, his voice strained, "Even if you stay, what can you do? Can you fight with others?"

He realized his tone might have been a bit too harsh, so he walked up to her, looked at her gently, and said, "Yu, please listen to me, won’t you? You can choose not to forgive me; you can blame me for the rest of your life. But for the baby in your belly, please go abroad. It’s only temporary. I’ll bring you back when it’s safe here."

Zhou Yu looked up at him, and he looked back at her.

After a long moment, her eyes grew moist. Min Xin’s heart ached, and his voice was incredibly hoarse. "Don’t cry. Why are you crying?"

He reached out to touch her eyes, wanting to wipe away the moisture, but she flinched away as if startled, retreating two steps. "I’m not leaving. I’m waiting for Anxi to come back."

At this moment, Mother Zhou, being a woman and a mother herself, somewhat understood her young daughter’s feelings. She whispered to Min Xin, "Let me try to persuade her."

Zhou Yu shook her head. "I’m not leaving. I believe Anxi will return safely."

She looked up at Min Xin again and said very seriously, "I really believe her, so I’m not leaving."

Min Xin let out a long breath. "You trust her that much?"

Zhou Yu nodded.

Min Xin smiled faintly and then said, "Alright, don’t leave then."

When he spoke, his voice was terribly hoarse.

For some reason, Father Zhou’s and Mother Zhou’s eyes had also quietly grown moist. Mother Zhou turned to Min Xin. "It’s late, and you probably haven’t had dinner yet. The servants have all gone to bed. I’ll make some noodles for you."

Min Xin turned his head. "Sorry to trouble you, Mother."

Mother Zhou seemed to want to say something but eventually walked to the kitchen without a word. Father Zhou then asked Min Xin to have some tea. After taking a sip, Min Xin said, "I have to eat the noodles quickly and rush back. Old Wang has been covering for me at the office for quite some time."

Father Zhou remembered his proud protégé and sighed, "Jingyao has been doing very well these years."

Min Xin said nothing.

Father Zhou chuckled. "You’re doing well now too."

"Thank you for the praise, Dad," Min Xin said, his gaze shifting to Zhou Yu.

Father Zhou smiled. "Alright, since we’ve chosen to believe in Xichen’s little girl, we must have faith and not get disheartened. Getting disheartened now would be bad. By the way, Min Xin, you can name the child."

Just as Min Xin was about to speak, Father Zhou interrupted him, "Let’s wait for that girl to come back and discuss it. She’ll surely make fun of you if your choice isn’t good."

Min Xin managed a smile, then quickly ate a bowl of noodles and hurried away. As he was leaving, he was obviously reluctant. Mother Zhou, understanding his feelings, said magnanimously, "Come here after work. Zhou Yu is pregnant; we can’t let her go to your place, and there would be no one to look after her."

Zhou Yu lowered her head. "I haven’t thought about getting back together with him."

In the past, such words would always discourage Min Xin by threefold. This time, however, he didn’t seem affected. Instead, he smiled, got into his car, and drove off.

By the time he returned to the office building, it was already Zishi hour.

Old Wang was still sitting in the conference room, smoking, seemingly lost in thought.

When Min Xin entered, King Jingyao looked up at him, surprised. "Why are you back? Weren’t you supposed to be seeing Zhou Yu off?"

Min Xin sat down beside him, pulled out a cigarette, and said with a grin as he lit it, "It must be a boy in her belly. The moment he heard he was going to be a deserter, he absolutely refused to go."

Old Wang gave a dry laugh. "Heh, so you’ve developed a sense of humor. Looks like you got a good reception at the Zhou family home. Quite something, getting so carried away by a few pleasant expressions."

Min Xin slowly exhaled a smoke ring and chuckled. "You have no idea how long the old couple have given me the cold shoulder."

"You deserved it." Old Wang went to the liquor cabinet, took out two wine glasses, and poured red wine into them. They each took a glass and sipped.

Min Xin glanced sideways. "Are we waiting for Xichen now?"

Old Wang hummed in agreement. "Yes, we’re waiting for news from him. Although our analysis was pretty good, Xichen can always get in touch with Anxi. It would be better to have more accurate information."

Saying this, he exhaled a puff of smoke and squinted at Min Xin. "The lives of millions are at stake; we can’t afford the slightest carelessness."

He waited, and Min Xin waited with him. After a while, Min Xin suddenly asked, "What about that little girl from the Chu Family?"

King Jingyao chuckled. "Jingchuan made her go rest. That little girl has astonishing stamina; she’d been up for so long but still wanted to keep going. I had Jingchuan give her a sleeping pill directly."

Though he said it lightly, they both knew a thing or two about the Chu Family’s affairs. Besides work, Chu Ci’s situation was undoubtedly a heavy blow to Chu Yan. Even though the young girl didn’t say anything, the impact on her was significant.

The two chatted casually for about half the night, finishing a bottle of red wine.

As the sky began to lighten, King Jingyao’s phone rang.

He jolted, immediately reaching for the phone and answering in a hushed voice, "Xichen, how are things on your end?"

Bo Xichen’s voice was even hoarser than his. "We’ve reached the Dark Base and are figuring out how to infiltrate it. Don’t make any moves in Beicheng for now; just keep things stable..."

King Jingyao nodded. "Then you all be very careful."

After hanging up, he looked at Min Xin. "They’re inside the base."

Min Xin nodded.

On the other side, Bo Xichen silenced his phone and then looked at Bo Nianyao. "Father, what is it?"

Bo Nianyao stared at his own communicator and said softly, "It’s an order from the Dark. They say someone’s injured."

Bo Xichen’s fists clenched.

Bo Nianyao thought for a moment. "I’ll go in as ’the doctor.’ You remain concealed. We’ll coordinate from the inside and outside."
