Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Pregnant?

She already had a pretty good idea, but she still didn’t dare to be completely sure.

After a moment of hesitation, she cautiously added, "Am I... pregnant?"

"Am I... pregnant?"

Meanwhile, Fei Jin, who had been waiting anxiously outside, rushed in. His face was tense with worry.

He stood by Song Qingya’s side and demanded anxiously, "Doctor, what’s wrong with her? Just tell us straight. We can handle it."

"Oh, you two," the doctor chuckled. "A bit too tense, aren’t you?"

Doctor Wen couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of them.

She saw them standing ramrod straight, their expressions so focused you’d think they were facing a formidable enemy.

Doctor Wen shook her head, a smile playing on her lips.

"Don’t panic. See for yourselves. It’s written as plain as day. What’s all the fuss?"

She held the ultrasound report out for them to see.

Song Qingya stared, stunned by the clear image on the page.

A tiny shadow rested quietly within her uterus.

Pointing to the tiny shadow, Doctor Wen shook her head in mild disbelief.

"In all my years, I’ve never seen anything like it. How could you be pregnant and not have any idea? Don’t you feel your body getting heavier?"

"What? Pregnant?"

Fei Jin’s eyes widened when he heard the word, his voice cracking.

He snatched the paper and stared at the ultrasound results for a few seconds.

Then he snapped his head up, his face a mask of pure shock.

Song Qingya’s eyes were wide as well.

Her mind went blank for a few seconds.

The news was so sudden.

Her heart pounded in her chest.

Song Qingya was still reeling from the shock, her mind a total blank.

The next second, Fei Jin swept her up into his arms.

Her feet left the ground, and she stumbled into his embrace.

It happened so suddenly that if Fei Jin’s strong arms hadn’t been holding her tight, Song Qingya would have stumbled.

"I’m going to be a father? Really, Doctor Wen?"

Fei Jin turned to look at Doctor Wen, who was tidying up her desk.

Fei Jin’s military duties were demanding, with tight missions and frequent training; he was used to working day and night.

But his years of martial arts training had left him with his fair share of old injuries.

So whenever he got hurt or suffered a sprain, he always came to Doctor Wen.

They saw each other so often that they’d become quite familiar.

Doctor Wen knew Fei Jin was usually reserved and never one for grand emotional displays.

But here he was, sweeping his wife into his arms and beaming with joy. It was clear his happiness was genuine.

Watching the young newlyweds, she felt happy for them, a warm feeling spreading through her chest.

Doctor Wen laughed. "Put her down, put her down! Don’t be reckless! You’re holding a pregnant woman, you know. She’s precious cargo now."

She chuckled at her own words, her heart softening at the sight.

"Listen, the pregnancy isn’t stable yet. For the next two months, your wife absolutely cannot do any heavy lifting. She needs to be careful, avoid stress, stay away from cigarettes and alcohol, and avoid contact with chemicals... Also, try to keep her emotions as stable as possible."

Her words slowed as she spoke, adding emphasis.

"Of course. Thank you, Doctor Wen."

Fei Jin replied with a nod, the smile never leaving his face.

In truth, he didn’t need the reminder. He could never bear to let Qingya do any strenuous chores.

Whenever she cooked, he would insist on wiping down the stove first and clearing away anything that could possibly burn her before he’d let her in the kitchen.

Now that she was pregnant with their baby, he couldn’t risk even the slightest mishap.

His protective instincts went into overdrive, multiplying several times over.

Fei Jin gently set her down, his hands on her arms to steady her.

He was so careful it was as if he were tiptoeing, squatting down slowly to let her feet touch the floor.

He held his breath, terrified of hurting her in the slightest.

He whispered, "Thank you, Qingya."

His hand came to rest gently on her lower abdomen, his fingers curling slightly against her.

Song Qingya couldn’t help but smile.

A faint blush colored her cheeks, and her eyes curved into crescents.

Pressing against his chest, she whispered, "It’s only the beginning. You can’t see or feel anything yet. You can feel it more when we get home."

Her face flushed crimson.

’Doctor Wen is still standing right there listening!’

Doctor Wen just smiled, unfazed.

She had seen this kind of scene countless times over the years.

She was long accustomed to the way young, first-time fathers looked: excited, nervous, and utterly clueless all at once.

Comparatively speaking, this couple was actually quite restrained.

She then wrote out another page of instructions, a dense list of things to pay special attention to during early pregnancy.

This included foods to avoid, with things like crab, hawthorn, and strong tea listed as irritants.

The moment her eyes fell on the word "hawthorn," Song Qingya froze.

She thought back to a few days ago when a craving struck. Unable to resist, she had used her pocket dimension to trade for a large batch of red hawthorns.

The hawthorns were plump and crimson, looking especially tempting.

She decided to make a dessert to satisfy her craving, so she got some white sugar and slow-cooked a big pot of candied hawthorns.

When they were done, she hadn’t been able to resist and had eaten several in a row. The sweet and sour flavor was incredibly satisfying.

But thinking about it now, she turned her head, suddenly puzzled, and asked cautiously,

"Is hawthorn something you can just eat whenever?"

At her side, Doctor Wen heard her question and thought for a moment.

Then she answered seriously, "A small amount is okay, but now that you’re pregnant, you have to be extra careful with your diet. Eating too much hawthorn can cause uterine contractions, which isn’t good for the fetus."

She then added, "And don’t take that list of precautions lightly. These aren’t just casual suggestions. You must take them to heart."

Hearing this, Song Qingya nodded with a focused expression, promising solemnly.

She knew better than anyone.

’Before, I didn’t know any of this, so I just muddled through.’

’But now, I have to be extra, extra careful.’

’If not for myself, then for the tiny, unborn life inside me.’

Still, even she was a little surprised.

’I never thought I’d get pregnant only a few short months after transmigrating to this world.’

The tips of her ears grew hot, and a faint blush crept up her cheeks.

’Then again, considering the circumstances, maybe getting pregnant shouldn’t be such a surprise...’

Just as the two of them were preparing to leave the examination room...

Doctor Wen suddenly seemed to remember something and quickly called out, stopping them in their tracks.

"Oh, that’s right. There’s one more thing I need to tell you. It’s extremely important, so please pay close attention."

Hearing the serious tone of her instructions, they both stopped and turned around.

Fei Jin asked, slightly puzzled, "Doctor Wen, is something wrong? Did you forget to mention something from the list?"

Doctor Wen shook her head. As she began to speak, she motioned for the nurse nearby to give them a moment of privacy.
