Chapter 645: -Chapter 645-

"The Mafia is dangerous for him," Jael decided to pad on to Rae’s lies. "We’ll set him up in a safe house in Central Area, get him a decent job."

The hesitance on Caspian’s face eased at that, "Oh, okay. I’ll... I’ll go check up on the kitchens."

Jael watched him walk off, oversized sweater sleeves rolled up. It had seemed like there was something more he wanted to say.

"Do you prefer Omegas?" Rae’s voice came from behind him.

Jael turned around to see that the kid’s sharp gaze was fixed on Caspian, who rounded a corner a short while later.

He just tossed the bundle of clothes at him, ignoring his words. "You’re coming out with me tonight."

Rae caught the clothes, "Did you buy this for me?" He asked with a bright smile.

"No," Jael coldly shut down his fantasies, "They’re Caspian’s."

He didn’t mention that they were definitely brand new clothes, never worn before.

Rae deflated, eyeing up Jael openly, "Can’t I wear your shirt instead?"

Jael didn’t answer him, walking off. He planned to ditch the teenage gang boss right after the event, he had no intention of entertaining him.

"Is that a yes?" Rae’s voice followed him down the hallway.

It made Jael stop and turn around. "How old are you?"

Rae took a step back, reluctance on his bandaged face. "Does it matter?"

Jael didn’t react to the obvious misunderstanding. He was simply asking because of what Caspian had said. Personally, he didn’t think the kid was that old, he didn’t look a day over 17.

He just continued on his journey, he could easily find out the truth for himself. And frankly, it didn’t matter, considering that Rae would be gone by the end of the night.

Rae leaned against the doorway and watched Jael leave. What did his age matter? He was smarter than all the old fucks he had ever come across.

Despite his thoughts, there was a deep groove between his brows, which wrinkled the bandage on the side of his face.

He glanced down at the clothes given to him, stepping back into the room after he could no longer see Jael.

Rae had quickly learned that the pretty Omega was Mafia King Asher’s mate. He usually didn’t pay attention to things that held no importance to him, and even though he knew that Caspian wasn’t a rival, the male Omega still irked him.

It didn’t help that he was so nice and generous. Did the Omega have even a single fault?

He went through the clothes, scowling because they were actually a perfect fit. The tags still attached to the clothes told him that he had been casually given a pile of expensive designer clothing like it was nothing.

He hadn’t bothered trying to get the male Omega on his side because it physically stung to look at that perfect face, and also because the mate of Mafia King Asher held no sway.

He was pampered, certainly, but he couldn’t rely on the Omega to keep him in the mansion.

Rae cleaned up, getting rid of the bandages before getting in the bathroom because his injuries had all been shallow cuts.

He wrapped a towel low on his waist as he stared at himself in the dresser mirror, a look of disapproval on his face.

The face his slut mother had given him had made his life slightly easier at the orphanage. At least it had gotten him food, clothes, and shelter, and he wasn’t given to the cheap monsters eager to leave bruises behind.

This was the first time bumping into someone better looking than him, it was upsetting. His looks would have absolutely no sway on Jael with Caspian right there.

Rae’s scowl remained on his face until after he was dressed. He wore an elegant, black cudoroy jacket over a long-sleeve shirt and neatly cut, thick cotton pants.

It was the best clothes he had ever worn.

He drifted back to the mirror, his scowl softening slightly.

Ignoring the price of the clothes, each one had been carefully picked to be suitable for the weather, it made him feel itchy.

Either Caspian was fucking stupid, or he was rich and bored enough to pay this much attention to some stranger he had never met before.

A knock on his door pulled him away from the mirror and right to the door, hope bubbling in his middle that it was Jael.

The blindingly beautiful face on the other side made the light go out of Rae’s eyes.

He wanted to stay in the mansion because that was his best chance of getting close to Jael, but it was starting to seem like the only person it would give him access to was the pesky mate of Mafia King Asher.

"Are the clothes comfortable, Rae?" The Omega asked with genuine concern, bringing with him the scent of sugar and flowers. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Rae looked away to hide his disappointment, "Yes, thank you."

Caspian brightened up at that, he could practically see the Omega’s blinding smile from the corner of his eye.

"Great, it’s time for dinner, let’s go eat."

Rae swallowed past a lump in his throat, he couldn’t quite say what caused it. He walked quietly behind Caspian, his thoughts drifting.

He still hadn’t figured out a way to gain Jael’s approval, and he was running out of time.

Frankly, he was way out of his depth, despite what he had said to his former gang members, he also hadn’t expected things to work out this well.

Rae was way in over his head, Jael was intimidating. The Beta was completely detached from everything, he couldn’t figure out a way to get under his skin, he didn’t even think he could upset him.

It was such an intimidating power imbalance, he wished it upset him more.

"Is there anything you like to eat?" Caspian tried to fill up the awkward silence.

He planned to ask earlier, but Jael had interrupted him. It didn’t matter though, as long as it wasn’t a complicated meal, it could be easily made tonight before he had to leave.

Rae was shaken out of his thoughts, he frowned. What he liked to eat? Who had the time to think about things like that?

"I’m fine with anything," He gave a generic answer, paying attention to the Omega for the first time.

He was a little taller than the Omega, Caspian’s pale blonde hair catching the lavish lights in the hallway. He wondered if he could get some information about Jael from him.
