Captive Mate BL-Chapter 652: - - -
Angelo was curled up in his favorite chair, watching Nikolai walk into the now familiar office to stubbornly squeeze himself into the same chair. ππ³ππππ¦π£π―β΄π£π¦π.π€ππ
He was used to this complete lack of respect for personal space, ending up partly sitting on the other.
"Are you bored?" Nikolai spoke quietly, his jaw resting gently on the otherβs shoulder.
Angelo perked up, he had thought that Nikolai had simply come to bug him as usual, but it did seem like the Mafia King had something to say. "Are you?" He handed back to him.
"A little, yeah. Did you really like the casino?"
Angelo sank into the arms caging him in. He liked the casino well enough, it had Nikolai. But his personal feelings didnβt matter much here, even though he knew that if he told Nikolai that he didnβt like the casino, then the Mafia King would go with his opinion.
He had always wanted Nikolai to get his casino and turf back, there was little to be done on this outpost on another Mafia Kingβs turf. Even the men were bored, all they did was hang out at the bar, occasionally dealing with the few matters that cropped up.
To make things worse, or better, Nikolaiβs turf still remained unclaimed. The High Council had moved to take over at first, but they only made a few moves because they were wary of it being a trap, and recently, they had done nothing at all.
Angelo thought back to the time there, it had been short-lived because he soon had to live with Silvia while Nikolai tracked down Luis Caddel. Nikolaiβs office at the casino had been more lively, with people getting dragged in constantly.
"I did," He said seriously.
"Are you just saying that because you still feel guilty?" Nikolai prodded. He couldnβt figure out a way to lessen Angeloβs guilt about his wrecked casino, even though the assassin had nothing to do with it.
Angelo turned to the side as much as he could to glance at Nikolai. Did the Mafia King really think he willingly sat in this office day after day for the sake of it? And not because he genuinely wanted to be there?
"No, Iβm also bored," He rolled his eyes, "My knives are going to get rusty at this rate."
There was a strange light in Nikolaiβs eyes at the mention of Angeloβs knives, but the Omega was looking away, so he didnβt notice.
Angelo didnβt exactly feel guilt for the blown-up casino, he just felt really bad, and maybe a little part of him still believed that if Nikolai hadnβt gone through the trouble of killing Luis for his sake, the casino would still be standing.
He turned to the side as best as he could so he could partially face Nikolai. This office might be way smaller than the office at the casino, but there was still a lot of space. Even in the sitting area that Angelo liked to stay at, there were two other couches and a chaise lounge.
They really didnβt have to squeeze into this one sofa, but if Angelo wasnβt happy where he was, he would have gotten up as soon as Nikolai approached.
"Do you want to rebuild the casino?" He asked bluntly, hope in his pale green eyes.
Nikolaiβs hands found their way into Angeloβs hair. He had been playing around with the idea for a couple days, but he hadnβt come to a decision yet. The men were also getting antsy, it was getting close to a month since they took up this temporary post.
The truth was that Nikolai hadnβt foreseen this outcome. He had been expecting to lose everything with the loss of his casino and, inadvertently, his turf. He was supposed to live quietly with Angelo, no longer a Mafia King.
But all of his men refused to leave and instead cramped themselves into this small bar, patiently waiting for his orders, week after week.
If anything, more people seemed eager to join the Mafia House, his turf that he ditched hostile to all the gang bosses downtown trying to steal a chunk.
It left him confused, he thought most people hated his guts - and with good reason too...
"I do want to rebuild the casino," He lowered his gaze, "With you."
Angelo bit back his smile, he had been waiting to hear this for a while now. "I donβt know a thing about construction," He managed to say with a straight face.
Nikolaiβs response was to tighten his hold in his hair and pull him in for a punishing kiss.
Angelo got out of the chair when he was free, flushed and out of breath, he kind of deserved that. "When were you thinking?" He returned the conversation to its original track, taking a step back when Nikolai right away got up and came after him.
"The High Council has been quiet for weeks, it could be that theyβre scheming up something," He mused as he did the one-step back, two-steps forward dance with Angelo.
"Iβll talk to the other Mafia Kings about what they think." He went on, snagging Angeloβs wrist at the other end of the room. "Come with me."
Nikolai wasnβt worried about what he would hear from Asher and Davian. The other two had tried to convince him to reclaim his turf, and they hadnβt been pleased by his saying he wanted to dissolve his Mafia House.
"Sure," Angelo agreed easily, knowing that Nikolai was talking about the meeting with the other Mafia Kings. He knew this because Nikolai was practically manhandling him back to sit on the sofa with him again.
He sighed when he was trapped in the tight confines of Nikolaiβs arms and the sofa again, "Couldnβt you have chosen another couch?" He asked exasperatedly.
"But this is your favorite," Nikolai played dense, so happy his eyes crinkled at the corners.
It was uncomfortably cramped, but every time he did this, Angeloβs reaction reminded him of a cat that didnβt want to be cuddled, it was a little addicting.
"Set up the meeting with the other Mafia Kings right now," Angelo grumbled, trying to get out of the chair again.
Nikolaiβs chuckle echoed against his back, the vibration rattling his spine, but the Alpha did take out his phone, keeping his other arm firmly around his waist.
