Carlotta's Daily Report-Chapter 99: "Do you want to fight?"
After leaving Pine Town, the remaining commissions had to be completed at sea.
Originally, some commissions could have been completed on the beach, but now, with so many people gathered on the beach outside Pine Town, many monsters were disturbed and dared not approach the shore, so they had to be completed in the sea.
But this wasn’t a problem. In fact, sea commissions were even easier for Carlotta, as she could use the Moonlight to handle some of the troubles.
However, after returning to the Moonlight, Carlotta first created a new card.
A diving card!
As the name suggests, with this card, one could stay underwater for a long time without worrying about breathing.
Carlotta made two diving cards, one for herself and one for Amelia. However, the one for Amelia still needed to be activated by Carlotta herself, and Amelia couldn’t stray too far from her, or the card would deactivate.
"Next, let’s enjoy the scenery beneath the ocean," Carlotta said with a smile.
The Moonlight slowly sailed into the sea, and Carlotta and Amelia plunged into the water, using the diving cards to descend beneath the waves.
It was nighttime, and the Starlight Sea was filled with countless sparkling lights, so the ocean floor wasn’t dark at all, allowing them to see far into the distance.
The seabed was covered with sand and stones, with various aquatic plants growing in vibrant colors, stretching out like an underwater garden.
Many creatures moved about in this underwater garden, mostly ordinary marine life, fish, shrimp, turtles, crabs, starfish burrowed in the sand, and shells hidden behind rocks.
"The scenery under the sea is truly rich and diverse," Carlotta remarked as she looked around.
Aside from ordinary creatures, there were also quite a few monsters.
In a nearby coral reef, Carlotta spotted a group of Corrosive Crabs. These crab-like monsters couldn’t be compared to regular crabs. Though they looked similar, they were much larger and could spray a corrosive liquid that would eat through anything in its path.
These Corrosive Crabs ranged from first to third tier apprentice, and for Carlotta, dealing with them wasn’t difficult.
However, as someone skilled in using the Elven Knight Path, fighting underwater was a bit challenging.
But for Amelia, who excelled in memory magic, this wasn’t a problem.
"Amelia, I’ll leave these Corrosive Crabs to you," Carlotta said to Amelia.
"Leave it to me," Amelia replied without hesitation, immediately moving toward the coral reef while casting her memory magic.
She used her memory magic to create a spear, which shot through the water with precision, instantly pinning a Corrosive Crab in place.
Then she pulled the spear back and sent it flying toward the next Corrosive Crab.
For Amelia, a ninth-tier apprentice, dealing with these third-tier Corrosive Crabs was a one-hit, one-kill affair, with no suspense at all.
Watching this, Carlotta smiled and took out her camera card, snapping a picture of Amelia in action.
"The crab shells can be used as proof to complete the commission, but the photos are for me to keep. However..." Carlotta looked at the photo and then called out to Amelia, asking her to remove her Illusory Mask and reveal her true appearance.
Since they were taking photos, it was only right to capture Amelia’s real face.
After all, there was no one around underwater to see her true appearance... and even if someone did see it, it wouldn’t matter. How many people in the Kingdom of Brandon would recognize them? And what were the chances of someone appearing right in front of them?
Amelia glanced back at Carlotta and understood her intention to take photos, which made her feel a bit uneasy.
Seeing Carlotta’s expectant expression, Amelia, though slightly embarrassed, ultimately didn’t refuse. She removed the Illusory Mask, revealing her stunningly beautiful face.
Then she continued to kill the Corrosive Crabs.
"Click, click, click!"
Carlotta took photo after photo, capturing Amelia’s heroic moments on small pieces of paper.
Photos often don’t evoke much emotion when they’re taken. But much later, when you look back at them, they can bring a flood of memories.
That feeling is called nostalgia.
In life, it’s good to leave behind some memories. Otherwise, when you grow old, you might feel that your youth left too few traces in this world.
Carlotta took many photos, and Amelia cleared out all the Corrosive Crabs. For someone of Amelia’s tier, dealing with these crabs was almost unfair.
After collecting enough crab shells as proof, Carlotta took Amelia to the next area.
With her access to information, Carlotta’s journey felt less like completing commissions and more like checking in at various scenic spots.
At each location, while completing the commissions, Carlotta also took a few photos of Amelia.
At first, it was Carlotta taking photos of Amelia, but later Amelia also took the camera card and asked Carlotta to reveal her true appearance, taking photos of her as well.
Amelia couldn’t use the card herself, but Carlotta had left her own magic on the camera card, and since they weren’t too far apart, Amelia could use it briefly.
In just a few hours, Carlotta and Amelia completed 25 commissions while having fun.
Carlotta thought she could finish all 50 commissions before dawn.
But if she had just accepted the commissions at midnight and completed them all by dawn, wouldn’t that scare people and cause trouble?
After some thought, Carlotta decided not to turn in the commissions at dawn. Instead, she would wait until the next midnight, review the information, and then decide when to turn them in.
Just as Carlotta was pondering this, she suddenly felt a stir in her heart and looked up toward the surface.
Above them was the Moonlight, which had been following them, its massive hull casting a huge shadow.
Not far away, another large shadow was approaching, it was another ship, clearly heading straight for the Moonlight.
"Trouble?" Carlotta and Amelia immediately swam toward the Moonlight, quickly surfacing and climbing up the ladder that had been lowered from the ship.
At the same time, the other ship, a sailing vessel, pulled up alongside the Moonlight, and many people came onto its deck, their eyes scanning the Moonlight.
Carlotta didn’t recognize this group of people, mostly men, led by a bald, burly man. The looks in their eyes were far from friendly.
Carlotta walked over and asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"
The bald leader looked at Carlotta and simply said, "I am Burrito Harden, and we are from the Wavebreaker Adventure Group. Are you from the Moonlight Adventure Group?"
Carlotta hadn’t heard of their group and replied, "We are the Moonlight Adventure Group. What’s the matter?"
Burrito grinned, "Finally, we’ve found you, Moonlight Adventure Group. You’re quite something, aren’t you? Not many of you, but you’ve taken on a lot of commissions, a full 50 of them! Can you even complete them all? Why take on so many?"
Just mentioning this made Burrito a bit angry.
He had originally eyed five commissions, planning to pick two, but hadn’t decided which ones yet. When he went back to discuss with his team, he found that all five commissions he had his eyes on were gone, and even the other suitable ones had been taken.
This really kept Burrito up at night. With all the good commissions taken, what was his adventure group supposed to do?
In his frustration, he took his team out to the Starlight Sea, approaching every ship they saw to ask if they were the Moonlight Adventure Group. And now, he had finally found them.
Looking at the group glaring at them, Carlotta frowned, "How many commissions we take is none of your business. Even if we can’t complete them, the Adventurers’ Association will deduct our contribution points. You don’t need to worry about it."
"You took all the commissions, so what are we supposed to take?" Burrito shouted.
Carlotta looked surprised, "There are still plenty of commissions on the bulletin board, aren’t there?"
Burrito felt like vomiting blood. The remaining commissions on the bulletin board, were those the kind that could be completed quickly?
Actually, before the Sky Island appeared, there had been quite a backlog of commissions in Pine Town. But after Tristian, the vice president of the association, made some moves, a large number of superhumans became adventurers, and the number of commissions had significantly decreased.
Carlotta taking on 50 commissions at once had left very few suitable ones available.
Burrito gritted his teeth, "I think you’re deliberately causing trouble for others, not letting us go to the Sky Island."
Carlotta shrugged indifferently, "Think what you want. I can’t be bothered to argue with you."
She turned and walked away, not wanting to waste any more words.
Watching Carlotta’s retreating figure, Burrito’s chest heaved, his breathing became rapid.
He muttered in a low voice, "That’s the Sky Island, a place that can change a person’s destiny. Many people have gone from being nobodies to famous across the continent just by setting foot on it. And you’re not letting me go? You’re just wiping out my chance to change my fate... How is that any different from killing me?"
He stared intently at Carlotta’s back.
Carlotta paused, sensing a surge of killing intent, and turned sharply to look at Burrito.
"The Sky Island? I want to go there too," Carlotta murmured.
She didn’t mean to prevent others from going to the Sky Island, but if the spots were truly limited, then competition was inevitable.
Because of the competition for benefits, two unrelated parties could easily become mortal enemies, which wasn’t surprising.
"So... Do you want to fight?" Carlotta’s expression turned cold.
