CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 97: Normal people
Both the Princesses looked at one other but soon showed a normal friendly smile as they moved around the ball.
[Princess Cassandra should not avoid my gaze. I am waiting for you.]
Cassandra could hear Princess Teimei’s voice revolving in her mind as she swallowed. Princess Cassandra sighed as she went to the balcony. Cassandra knew what Princess Teimei wanted to say.
’Should I avoid it?’ Cassandra’s eyes narrowed. Princess Cassandra was deep in thoughts as she blinked a few times. Even if I want to, I cannot avoid it.’
Cassandra sighed as she turned around only to find the Crown Prince standing behind her. Cassandra was frightened but she bowed to her brother respectively.
Prince Cedric looked down at his sister. He did not know why he came here so when Viver Kingdom’s Crown Prince entered, he felt suffocated. Prince Cedric needed a breath of fresh air so he came out only to see one of his sisters turning around.
Prince Cedric looked at the lady in front of him with interest. "Are you the one that will marry Lord Bentham?" Prince Cedric asked in a surprised tone.
Cassandra nodded as she listened to the Crown Prince’s thoughts.
[So she is the powerless Princess of the Empire.]
[I think I have seen her in the palace from time to time.]
[Her existence is too small to take notice of it.]
"You can stay here if you wish for it." Prince Cedric said as he walked towards the corner with the wine glass in hand. His eyes were unfocused and his mind was chaotic.
[Prince Carl is not here for a peace treaty, I am sure of it.]
[It is a pity that I cannot kill the man directly.]
[And Princess Teimei’s movements are also questionable. She is really here only to see the Elvira kingdom?]
[And what is Prince Carl thinking? Staying at Duke Bentham’s Mansion.]
[Everything will be clear soon. After today’s ball we all will be having a discussion.]
[Their true motives will be known soon.]
Princess Cassandra saw Prince Cedric before she moved out of the room. There was a small place in her mind telling her that something will be going off soon. A feeling that kept bugging her thoughts.
[Princess come to this balcony before I come and search you,] Princess Teimei’s thoughts flood into Cassandra’s mind as she sighed.
’I wish I could just block all the voices.’
’The Vivere Kingdom’s people are killing me right now.’
’Why is it that they know everything about me?’
’This is irritating me.’
Princess Cassandra sighed as she walked towards the balcony that Princess Teimei had talked about. Cassandra picked up a glass of wine along the way to distract everyone’s attention.
[You are here.] Princess Teimei said with an excited tone.
"Will you just talk like normal people?" Princess Cassandra said in an irritated tone. "My head is in pain anyways."
Princess Cassandrarubbed her forehead in defeat. Her eyes looked down as her gaze softened due to the pain.
"Okay." Princess Teimei smiled. "But why are you avoiding me, Princess? I thought we were friends."
Cassandra looked at the overexcited Princess as she sighed again. "I am not avoiding you and Princess Teimei and I can not be friends."
"Why?" Princess Teimei raised her eyebrows in question. "Did I do something wrong? Are you angry at me?"
Cassandra looked at the Vivere Kingdom’s Princess as she could not help thinking. ’Was Princess Teimei always expressive?’
’No, she is different in front of other people.’
’Princess Teimei is calm and composed in front of the Emperor and stubborn in front of her brother. But now she is playful and demanding.’
’Which is her true self?’
Cassandra could not understand. She only knew that the situation she was in was a little difficult.
"Princess Teimei, there is no reason for us to be friends. All you and your brother have done is see me as a tool. You both have blackmailed me and tried to manipulate me. I have a reason to avoid you both." Cassandra’s voice was filled with determination. She was clear in her thoughts on how she was feeling.
"But Princess, whatever we are doing is for you." Princess Teimei tried to explain.
"And why is that? We have not known each other. It was the first time we have seen one another and suddenly you both want to help me? Why? I cannot accept such kindness, Princess." Cassandra looked straight at Princess Teimei. "Such kindness always comes with a prize and I am not ready to put myself at a disadvantage."
Princess Teimei did not understand Princess Cassandra’s words.
[How can kindness be such a bad thing?]
[She is not even treated like a proper Princess here.]
[We are not going to cage her there. She will have all the freedom.]
[Why isn’t she happy?]
Princess Teimei’s thoughts ran wide. For once she forgot that Princess Cassandra could read thoughts. It was her pure thinking that was heard by Cassandra.
Princess Cassandra also understood it. "Don’t worry Princess. Your words have worked wonders on me." Cassandra looked at Princess Teimei with a smile. "I will go to the Vivere Kingdom."
Princess Teimei did not know how to respond. Should she be happy that the fifth Princess would be coming to the Vivere Kingdom as they wanted or should she be sad that Princess Cassandra thinks that they are blackmailing her?
But Princess Teimei could not react. Before she could express any feeling, a shadow came in interrupting their talk. "What is Princess Teimei doing here?"
Both Princesses turned around to see Duke Salvador standing there. His red gaze looked down at Princess Teimei ignoring the fifth Princess.
"Prince Carl is searching for the Princess. I hope you go and meet your brother soon before he thinks that the Elvira Kingdom has kidnapped you." Duke Salvador said in a sarcastic tone as his lips curled up.
Princess Teimei’s eyes narrowed as she nodded her head and left the balcony. [We will talk at night Princess.]
Princess Cassandra sighed as she turned around to look outside. Her body was exhausted and so was her mind. Cassandra felt tired as her gaze moved around to find some peace.
"Did the Vivere Kingdom’s Princess trouble you?" Duke Salvador said in a low tone as he talked.
Princess Cassandra sighed as she looked out at the sky. "Not really. It was the same old thing."
"Do you want to visit their Kingdom?" Duke Salvador raised his eyebrows.
"Yes," Princess Cassandra looked at the Duke as she nodded.
Duke Salvador walked beside the fifth Princess with a smile. "The Princess looks beautiful today."
Aiden looked at Princess Cassandra who was blinking at him. She wore a pink satin dress. Although it was not extremely decorated like the other Princesses, it hugged Cassandra’s body in the right places. Her platinum blond hairs were in a bun but some waves did escape touching the fifth Princess’s cheeks and neck from time to time.
Although the fifth Princess was wearing minimum jewelry it went well with her overall look, making her glow in the sea of people.
"That .." Cassandra did not know how to react to such a compliment. Her cheeks heated up as her body filled with happiness.
Aiden’s lips curled up as he saw the way the fifth Princess reacted to his words. It was a feeling he had never had before.
’This feels good.’ was the only thought in his mind.
There was silence between the two as no one said anything. Princess Cassandra was looking out with a wine glass in hand whereas Duke Salvador followed her gaze before looking at her from time to time.
"I can feel something is troubling you." Duke Salvador asked. There was a hint of worry in his voice as Aiden’s eyes narrowed.
"Something is worrying me." Princess Cassandra murmured as she thought back of the possibilities of something bad happening. "I have a bad feeling."
"Tell me, Princess. What is bothering you? I might be of some help to you."
Cassandra was struggling with whether to tell Duke Salvador about her worries or not. She could not help but feel helpless in such a situation.
’I should not keep the Duke in the dark.’
’We are in this together.’
’I cannot trust Lord Bentham now.’
’There is only one way. I have only him to trust.’
Princess Cassandra looked at the Duke. "I have a bad feeling regarding the first Princess."
"Princess Valeria?" Duke Salvador asked in a low tone. His eyes narrowed.
’If it is regarding the first Princess then something big might happen.’
Duke Salvador was concerned with such things. His eyes showed his thoughts.
Princess Cassandra nodded her head in agreement. "Something is not right with her. Her thoughts are all over the place."
"Is it on bad terms? Is her thought running wide in a harmful way?" Duke Salvador said in a soft tone. Making sure that only those two could hear each other.
But before Princess Cassandra could reply a commotion was heard from inside making Princess Cassandra and Duke Salvador look inside.
