CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 147: Speedrunning Bounties
"Ugh... You need to slow down, Selina." The black cat meowed.
"Why? Don’t I need to get used to it?" Selina looked at her cat and mumbled. She did not care about the cultists at all.
"Yup, you do. But in moderation. You don’t want to actually go crazy, do you?"
"You’re right..." Selina sighed.
The Red Hoods looked at each other. In their point of view, they just saw a crazy cat lady talking to her cat. They aimed their guns at Selina again.
"Hey! We told you! Hands in the air!"
Selina smiled. She let go of Mater.
The black cat jumped to the floor. In its hand was a small dark sphere.
"It’s a familiar! Kill it now!"
They started blasting. All the bullets were blocked by a pink hexagonal dome that appeared out of nowhere.
Mater threw the small sphere at them. It was Blinding Void.
Selina closed her eyes just before it exploded. A dark veil took over the basement, blinding every cultists temporarily.
"My eyes! My eyes!"
"I can’t see!"
"Fire at will!"
They fired their guns blindly. Some bullets went to Mater and Selina’s direction but he blocked them all with Force Dome.
"Hellfire Pit!" The black cat raised its paw.
A circle of fire appeared underneath the cultists. A wave of fire shot up and burned most of them.
Mater opened his mouth and shot two Nether Spheres to two that weren’t burned.
He used Desperate Scream to knock down the nearest cultist. Before the cultist could get up, he released another soundwave that blew the cultist’s head clean off.
There were 10 of them. Two were killed instantly because of the Nether Spheres. Five were rolling around with fire on their body but they couldn’t extinguish hellfire. They would die soon. Another got his head blown off.
The remaining two were able to get their vision back. They trembled in horror as their allies were neutralized within seconds.
"Retreat!"
The two ran backwards while firing at Mater.
The black cat noticed that they weren’t firing ordinary guns at all. Their bullets were propelled by Psychic Power.
"Interesting... I should examine those guns."
Black chains reached out from the shadow of a cultist and held him tight.
The other was blasted with a Nether Sphere and died instantly.
"Joseph..." The last remaining cultist mumbled. He tried to get out of the chains but was unable to.
The few panicked flaming cultists finally stopped moving. They lay motionless on the floor while hellfire continued to burn.
Mater slowly walked in front of the surviving cultist.
"Red Keepers?" The black cat’s deep voice echoed.
"You know us?" The cultist said.
"I met some of you before."
The effect of chains of shadow disappeared and the cultist was able to move again. He immediately rolled away and grabbed the gun.
"Watch, girl." The black cat’s deep voice echoed as he used the barbaric Chaos Tentacles for the first time.
His tentacles were different. They’re pure black with thorns and spikes on them. They pierced into the skin of the last cultist. Mater’s Chaos flooded into the man’s Psycho Force.
Red cracks started to appear on the man’s skin. His body trembled and he could not move.
"You learn the basics of the Chaos Skills. But you still haven’t understood one simple thing. Chaos is an extension of you. You must show your true colors for it to be powerful."
Mater’s Chaos Well was drained away much more quickly than he desired. That was the fatal weakness of these barbaric skills. They were too expensive and put too much strain on your body. But Mater still did it to teach Selina.
Selina watched everything attentively. She listened to his every word.
"Crush." Mater dissipated the Chaos Tentacles and used Chaos Control.
His small paw closed up. The ceiling and the floor shot up and met in the middle, crushing the last cultist into pieces.
"Tch. A few hundred Chaos Points just because of that." Mater licked his paw like a normal cat. "You should learn Psionics soon. Because these low grade skills aren’t worthy for you to use."
The black cat then opened his mouth, pulling in all the Chaos inside him.
These were weak cultists. All were level 1 Psychics. But there were many. Mater’s Chaos Spheres jumped up to 31.
He got 85 Chaos Spheres after the Slump Slopes but used 84 of them to level Aurora, Crow, and Bash. He was very poor just a moment ago with only one Chaos Sphere.
"Your souls are mine."
A faint red sphere formed inside Mater’s small paw as he pulled the souls of the ten Red Hoods inside. A small prison of Chaos made to contain the souls of the dead. It was the same method he used to collect the souls of the Haland Boys.
Mater tossed the soul sphere inside his mouth and put it in his Demonic Arsenal.
"Bash could use this. Otherwise, I can use it for other Rituals as well."
The black cat returned to Selina and climbed on her shoulder.
"Let’s go to the next one, Selina."
The goth girl snickered then left.
Back in the hideout of the Red Keepers.
"Scar 1, come in! Scar 1!"
"Desert 7! Desert 7! Report now!"
The Red Hood turned to the Crimson Hood. His face was pale as paper.
"They’re dead, sir..." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The Crimson Hood slammed his hand on the table. "God Damnit! Must be a Hazard Psychic or a high ranking Menace!"
"What should we do now, sir?"
The Crimson Hood put on a red vest. "Call other units. And summon at least three other Crimson Hoods. We’re going in full force!"
"Yes, sir!"
The Red Keepers regrouped. They marched to the abandoned house in vans and armored vehicles. There were 30 Red Hoods and 5 Crimson Hoods, including the commander just now.
But when they arrived at the abandoned house, Selina and Mater had left long ago. They could only see the ruin that the goth girl and black cat had made.
The two of them went on to check the remaining bounties. 11 of them were Iron Rank while the last three were Bronze Rank.
Selina and Mater did not have much problem dealing with the Iron Ranks. They weren’t that lucky afterwards. The next 11 had 9 of them were false positives and only two had wraiths.
The locations of the bounties were also scattered around the city which extended their investigation into a few days.
On the fifth day, Selina and Mater accomplish all the Iron Rank Bounties.
"Oh, we should head over to Aurora. They should finish leveling up already."
The black cat jumped on Selina the first thing in the morning. She wasn’t even awake yet.
