Chapter 233: Chapter 233: The Arena

A broad muscular man walked into the classroom. He had long blonde hair and a beard that hadn’t been cared for.

The man looked around the classroom. π•—π•£πžπžπ˜„πžπš‹πš—π—Όπ˜ƒπ—²π—Ή.πšŒπ• πš–

"Well, I’ll be damned." The man walked onto the board, "When Graves said that I’ll be having a special class, I didn’t think it would be this special."

The man grabbed the white chalk and wrote on the board, "I am Professor Howard Abraham. You can call me Prof Abraham. Not Abrams, Abra, Abraham."

The man scanned the students. His eyes were still sharp despite his age. He could see that this class had just the perfect combination of students. The brute. The thinker. The fixer. And even two leaders. Just the right amount of chaos to make the best troop ever.

"You two were saying?" Professor Abraham said.

"There can’t be two captains for the same class," Oscar squinted his eyes gently, "It’s either me or Big Sister here."

Howard took out a stainless aluminum can and chugged it down. The stench of the alcohol reeked from all the way there.

"The prince of Dail Eas Ranches..." Howard gazed upon Oscar then to Selina, "and the daughter of a Neutralizer. This is a business that I don’t want to intervene in. What are you two trying to do?"

"The Arena." Selina said.

Howard nodded, "Good. Straight and direct. You can put on your battle suits. Remember, no killing or serious injuries. That means no high grade offensive Psionic Skill. You can only use Matter Deformation, Brain Freeze, and Body Enhancement."

"What about weapons?" Selina said.

"You’re one eager little shit, huh? Weapons are allowed but you cannot use Enhancement Augmentation."

Selina frowned. This professor wasn’t polite at all.

"Done." Oscar said.

Selina nodded, "I’m fine as well."

Oscar moved to the locker room to change. Selina didn’t.

"Aren’t you going to put on your battle suit?" Professor Howard said.

"There is no need." Selina looked over to Mater.

The black cat opened its mouth and spat out the Abyssal Helmet.

"Ready to wear," the black cat chuckled loudly. Its chuckle was almost too human.

Howard stared at Mater extensively. He had a horrible memory relating to a cat. An orange one to be precise.

’Like mother like daughter...’ Howard thought to himself.

Selina grabbed the helmet and went out first. Her people followed her. Aurora, Loretta, Becky, Jesse, Clive, and Ken.

Oscar also had his own crew. They stayed back and waited for him.

The neutral students in the class followed Selina’s group to the Arena first.

Jesse rushed to the front and talked with Selina.

"We meet again, Miss Isles." He said.

"Hello, Jesse. How are you these days?" Selina said.

"I’m fine, Miss! I didn’t think that we were going to share the same class!"

"Well. I doubt that it is a coincidence."

Selina shared a glance toward Mater, which the black cat pretended to know nothing about.

The boy, Jesse O’Shea, was a very capable Psychic. He didn’t have much experience and training, but he was valuable enough for Mater to arrange him into this class.

"Did you see that boy Lalo?" Selina said.

Jesse’s expression darkened. He nodded grimly, "I saw him. I can’t believe that murderer can just walk free like that!"

"That is life for ya. Life isn’t fair. But don’t worry. I won’t let him get away with it." Selina smiled. Her eyes were dangerous.

The Arena of the Institute was underground. They had to take an elevator to go down there.

Apart from them, there were also a few other classes that chose combat to decide who their captain would be.

Professor Abraham was a drunkard. But he did remember to book an arena for Selina and Oscar.

Each arena was an elevated platform inside the Combat Stadium.

They were very similar to the arena where Selina had taken her first examination with a smaller size.

"Hey... Isn’t that..." Someone pointed right away when Selina appeared.

"That tattoo... Yep. It’s probably her."

Selina swiped her hand over the biometric scanner. The force field around the arena slit open and allowed Selina to walk in.

The students in the classroom stood around in a circle.

"Big Sister is so brave. I didn’t think she would face Oscar." Astrid said.

"Why? What is so brave about it?" Miles asked.

"Oscar is a child soldier, don’t you know? I wouldn’t even have the courage to face him." Astrid said.

"But deathly force is prohibited. There is nothing to worry about." Miles said.

Clive shook his head. The dark circles around his eyes made him look like a panda. "You don’t understand. Facing a killer is an entirely different matter. Even if they don’t try to kill you."

Becky held her breath. She knew Selina was strong. But Oscar was strong as well. She didn’t know who’s going to win.

"Can’t you predict who’s going to win?" Becky whispered to Loretta.

The woman rolled her eyes, "I’m not that kind of Seer."

Then Oscar came. His battle suit was a sleek dark green armor. It had a very minimal amount of metal, prioritizing his movement.

"This one might be very fast," the black cat meowed, "Stay alert, Selina."

The goth girl nodded.

Oscar climbed onto the platform. He looked Selina up and down.

"Where is your battle suit?" Oscar said.

"Right here."

Selina put the helmet on. Darkness surrounded her. Her Dark Knight form had returned and her expression changed.

An expression that shook Oscar gently.

"You’re also a killer, huh? I shouldn’t have underestimated you." Oscar said.

He put on his own helmet.

Selina’s armor had a more traditional look. While Oscar’s suit looked more like protective gear instead of a full suit of armor.

Mater had incorporated a few Psychowares into the helmet so whenever Selina wore it, they would be integrated into the armor.

Technically speaking, the armor was a mix between the old magic of Mater and the modern technology of this world.

Oscar reached behind his back and took out a recurved bow. He had a quiver strapped to his hip.

Usually he didn’t need arrows but because this fight banned high Psionic Skills, he had to use physical arrows.

"Where’s your weapon, Miss Isles?" Oscar said.

Selina looked over to the black cat near her.

Mater spat out the long sword that Selina ordered from the AE Forges. It was made of the best steel material of the modern world and could absorb a lot of force.
