Chapter 253: Chapter 253: First Attempt

"Nicely said, Miss Isles." Marlene nodded, "Everyone should remember that clearly. If no one has warned you before, consider this your first reminder. Don’t let the Union brand you as a terrorist. It won’t end well."

The class fell silent. Marlene returned to teach the class and guide the students on how to perform a crystallization. Her interpretation was very different from Mater’s however.

"To crystalize, you need to stay calm. Your mind must be clear of thoughts to perfectly manipulate your NES." Marlene said.

The black cat turned to Selina, "Ignore that. Remember what I taught you about Chaos Tentacles? Use that. Bathe in the power of Chaos. But this time, instead of using its liquid form, use its solid form."

"How? What’s the difference?" Selina whispered.

"There is none. Liquid, gaseous, or solid. They are all Chaos at its core. You just need to use the correct state." Mater meowed.

Selina placed her hand above her own glass box. She didn’t put it inside yet.

Her wraith was also a small animal. This time it seemed to be a white rabbit with bloody eyes. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Chaos leaked out from her Chaos Singularity and climbed to her hand. Then she felt it, the other form of Chaos.

The liquid form was more benign and easy to control. The solid form was more aggressive. It was still Chaos. But this Chaos was the other side of the same coin.

Her fingers twitched gently as she felt the madness swept over her. Selina didn’t contain it like Marlene told her to do. She did it like Mater and felt every single ounce of bloodlust it brought.

The Chaos crystallized around her hand, enveloping her skin in a crystallized layer.

"Woah!" Marlene clapped, "You did it so fast.

Selina grinned wide. Her smile was sinister and mad. It was as if she became a completely different person.

Marlene saw that, "Are you okay, Miss Isles?"

"Never better," Selina said.

The goth girl had tasted the Chaos from devouring other creatures. She felt the same madness before and lived with it for days. This feeling was nothing compared to that.

"Get ready." Mater meowed softly. He climbed on her shoulder and rested his head at her neck, "Allowing another Chaos to be inside your Singularity without consuming it can be quite a trip."

"You’ll protect me, right?" Selina whispered.

The black cat grinned widely, "As always. You have nothing to worry about."

Selina pushed her hand through the glass box. She used Chaos Control to separate the glass.

The rabbit jumped at her. Her hand closed off like a bear trap and created a crystal that held the rabbit perfectly still.

"Very good, Miss Isles. Just practice holding it like that. We will practice collecting the NES at a later class." Marlene said.

"I intend to do it now," Selina said.

"Trying to create an Emotional Gemstone without the assistance of the Integrator can be quite dangerous," Marlene frowned.

"Don’t you worry, Professor." The black cat’s deep voice echoed. It was the first time Marlene and the class heard him speak, "She’s a big girl."

Tiny connections reached out from within Selina’s pores and went through the crystal layer. They plunged into the rabbit’s skin and pulled out its Chaos. The connections weren’t that different from Chaos Tentacles. Selina only needed to pull the Chaos into her instead of pouring her Chaos into the target.

The rabbit was, surprisingly, a Fury. Selina’s eyes turned red. The red of anger. She saw the rage and pain that the rabbit had gone through.

Why was it rage? Because its home was taken away and its family killed. Then it was played with by some cat until it died. Cats really were vicious animals. They liked to play with their prey.

Selina chuckled. That reminded her of Mater. Her black cat was also very vicious. She didn’t find it cruel, only amusing.

The students near her all sweated profusely.

"She seems a little mad..." Someone said.

Marlene nodded. She was also very concerned. But Selina didn’t show any sign of collapse at all, her Psycho Force was very stable.

’How can she do this so well?’ Marlene questioned internally. The biggest challenge for any Psychic was to maintain their mental stability and mental health.

The rabbit’s Chaos quickly returned to its body and crystallized. The wraith shrunk into a small red gemstone inside the glass box.

Selina threw the gemstone toward Mater, "Try it."

The black cat caught the gemstone with its mouth.

"What are you doing?!" Marlene grabbed her hair in a panic, "Emotional Gemstones contain a very concentrated amount of NES. It could drive your cat insane."

"It’ll be fine, Professor. Look."

Marlene widened her eyes as Mater crushed the gemstone in his mouth and chewed it like a treat.

"Hmmm. Very nice. A little bit low quality though. I can only make a very weak Rank-1 spell with this. You still need to practice a lot." The black cat meowed.

Emotional Gemstones could raise Psychic’s affinity toward Psycho and Psionic Skills. For Mater, it could help him create more spells.

Rank-1 Wraith, or Menace-level, created Rank-1 Gemstones that could be used to make a new Rank-1 Spell.

So if Mater wanted to make a new Rank-2 spell, he needed Selina to crystalize a Rank-2 wraith.

"Mr. Mater said the quality of the gemstone isn’t good..." Selina said.

"It’s alright, Miss Isles." Marlene said. "You just started. And you didn’t use the Integrator Program as well. The program can help you yield more high quality gemstones."

The black cat stroked its whiskers, ’Maybe I should take a look at that program later..."

The class continued. The Institute was very rich in resources as Marlene was able to bring even more wraiths for Selina to practice. All the wraiths were level-1 Menace.

They finished the class just before 6:00 PM. The cat and his goth girl went out for a little dinner.

Aurora, Evelynn, Blanche, Cole, and a few of their classmates were also there.

They talked about their days and joked around. Selina for once felt like she was just an ordinary student living an ordinary life.

"So..." Astrid played with her hair, "Do you have someone you like, Selina?"
