Cave Refuge-Chapter 139 - 138: Guard Post_1
The Small Revival Spell is quite straightforward. It’s a recovery spell. The result of the spell is very limited, as demonstrated by a young boy earlier, only able to accelerate the healing of injuries.
Worth mentioning is the Spring Rain Technique. The effect of this spell is not too dissimilar from the Rain Summoning Technique, as both involve summoning rain.
However, in comparison to the Rain Summoning Technique, the Spring Rain Technique covers a larger area, and the rain it brings is not ordinary rain. It consists of droplets saturated with a faint amount of Spirit Energy, which can nourish the earth and accelerate plant growth.
Due to Dong Tianyu’s continued practice of the Spring Rain Technique, the once brown slopes of Nameless Mountain began to show signs of green, undeterminable seeds buried within the soil began to sprout.
As the temperatures gradually rose, survivors began moving into the refurbished underground Refuge Center. This reminded everyone of the days when they used to hide underground.
Dong Tianyu ventured into People’s Square under the cover of darkness. Even though it was midnight, the outside temperature showed no signs of dropping and had even surpassed forty degrees.
Upon reaching People’s Square, Dong Tianyu noticed a peculiar object that had been placed in the square.
A glass tube extended up from a transparent enclosure before making a turn and entering the ground.
Looking at this peculiar object, Dong Tianyu was curious for a moment. However, before he could approach, he heard a warning from afar: "Do not come any closer, this is your first warning. If you disregard this warning and continue forward, I will open fire."
Hearing the warning, Dong Tianyu furrowed his brows. He did not expect that this unknown object would warrant such attention. Though he had already stopped in his tracks, he showed no intention of turning back causing the guard to fire a warning shot.
’Bang!’
The bullet hit the ground not far in front of Dong Tianyu. At this point, his Divine Sense had already discerned the location of the shooter.
The shooter was not far from Dong Tianyu, hidden within a structure similar to a bunker, less than a meter high, which was why Dong Tianyu hadn’t noticed him earlier.
Although Divine Sense could be used to scan surroundings, it wasn’t a radar, and couldn’t be kept on all the time. So, Dong Tianyu usually kept Divine Sense active only within a ten-meter radius of his body.
"This is your final warning. Retreat immediately or I will have the right to shoot you dead in ten seconds."
Hearing this and recalling the gunshot from before, Dong Tianyu knew that the person was serious.
Not wishing to cause trouble, Dong Tianyu promptly retreated and headed towards the entrance to the War Reserve Warehouse.
Seeing Dong Tianyu divert his direction, the guard in the bunker followed Dong Tianyu’s every move with wary eyes. The moment Dong Tianyu headed for the entrance to the underground Refuge Center, the guard raised his gun, aiming at Dong Tianyu.
The instant the guard aimed his gun at Dong Tianyu, a powerful alert rang in Dong Tianyu’s Divine Sense.
Dong Tianyu forcibly suppressed his instinct to retaliate, slowed down, and slowly approached the flower bed.
The previously excavated flower bed now had a canopy overhead and a ramp had been constructed for easy access.
Perhaps having heard the gunshot earlier, several guards emerged from the recess of the flower bed.
Seeing Dong Tianyu approaching, they immediately raised their weapons and asked, "Who are you, and what is your purpose here?"
Dong Tianyu reflexively raised his hands and said, "Don’t worry, I mean no harm. Please put down your weapons so they won’t go off accidentally. My name is Dong Tianyu. I’m here to visit my parents, who are staying in the Refuge Center in the War Reserve Warehouse."
Despite Dong Tianyu’s explanation, the guards remained cautious. Although the underground Refuge Center of the War Reserve Warehouse wasn’t isolated and allowed outsiders to visit, most people chose to use the underground tunnel for such visits.
No one attempted to cross the surface, given its high temperature, which ordinary people couldn’t bear.
However, Dong Tianyu’s behavior, while unusual, did have a satisfactory explanation.
"Stay where you are and don’t move. We need to inspect you."
Upon hearing this, Dong Tianyu remained still.
Seeing Dong Tianyu being so cooperative, the guards quietly breathed a sigh of relief. After a detailed inspection of Dong Tianyu by two guards, they escorted him away.
"Let’s go! We will talk more in a cooler place downstairs."
With that, they led Dong Tianyu down the ramp toward the depression in the flower bed. Whether it was a psychological trick or not, the place did feel cooler than the surface.
The bottom of the flower bed had been converted into a small guard post with a desk and a few chairs.
One of the guards pulled out a registration form from a drawer and handed it to Dong Tianyu, explaining, "This is also an entrance, but most people come here via the underground tunnel to visit relatives. There aren’t many people like you who come from the surface."
Hearing this, Dong Tianyu smiled, took the registration form, and started filling it out. He responded, "This is my first time visiting. The last time I was here, the underground tunnel was just being constructed. I didn’t expect it to be in operation so quickly."
One of the other guards piped in, "No wonder you didn’t know. Ever since the underground tunnel became operational, the people who use this entrance are mostly those who transport goods at night. Otherwise, hardly anyone comes this way."
Just as the guard finished his sentence, they heard a ’thud thud thud’ sound getting louder as it approached.
Hearing this sound, the guards’ faces lit up with joy.
One of the guards rushed out and upon seeing who was approaching, he signaled those inside, saying, "The supply cart is here. Clear up and make passage for its unloading."
Upon hearing those words, everybody started clearing away their chairs and the table from the center of the room.
The guards saw that Dong Tianyu, who was well-aware, had positioned himself against the wall and therefore didn’t say anything more.
A moment later, they saw someone controlling a cart loaded with goods, slowly pushing crates towards them.
A few guards checked the contents of the crates one by one.
At that moment, Dong Tianyu finally figured out why the guards had said that hardly anyone came through this way, adding that there were so many people here today. They had other tasks to perform.
Because the guards were thoroughly checking the contents of the boxes, even though Dong Tianyu was standing against the wall, he could see what was stored inside.
