Chapter 54: Killing Spree

Felicity smiled, pleased with Henry’s reaction. "I’m glad you like it," she said, gesturing to the long sapphire staircase in the room which lead to many other rooms.

"I have prepared a special room for you, one Emily used as a child. I chose this cause it’s closer to mine," Felicity said and began walking towards the stairs

"What! I get to stay close to her, it’s like she doesn’t want me out of her sight at all." Henry exclaimed inwardly and glanced towards Emily, hoping she would retort. Afterall it was once her room.

But Emily shrugged. "Don’t look at me, i don’t really care. Besides that’s the biggest bedroom in the house after mum’s, so be grateful. Anyway I have some training to do, Ciao!" she stated and left the living room, heading back outside.

"Don’t worry, i promise not to disturb you. I’ve refurbished the room to suit your taste and arranged all the clothes and other items you’ll need, so there’s no need for any stress other than familiarizing yourself with everything," Felicity explained motioning with her neck for Henry to follow her.

Henry nodded and climbed the stairs, walking across the glittering blue marble steps, and gold plated railings. He followed Felicity all the way into the corridor which contained more rooms and lead to other corridors that had even more rooms.

Henry was in daze with the anatomy of the building, it felt like a maze, one which he would certainly get lost if he tried to tour alone.

Felicity noticed his expression and chuckled. "Don’t worry, I’ll give you a tour of the house later, for now you should rest," she said, before stopping a large gold door which was seemingly the entrance to a bedroom.

She pushed the button at the side of wall and the door slid open, revealing a large and luxurious crib. The bedroom was a masterful blend of elegance and luxury, with every detail carefully crafted to create a serene and peaceful oasis.

The walls were painted a soothing pale blue, complemented by rich, dark wood furniture that seemed to glow in the soft light. The floor was covered in plush, creamy-white carpeting that felt like silk beneath Henry’s feet.

A stunning crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the room. The bed, a majestic four-poster with intricate carvings, dominated the center of the room. Its snowy-white duvet and pillows were invitingly plush, adorned with delicate lace trim.

To one side, a floor-to-ceiling window offered a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape, with a comfortable reading nook nestled in the bay. A delicate, frost-etched glass door led out onto a private balcony, where Henry could imagine sipping coffee on crisp mornings.

The room was filled with thoughtful touches: a marble-topped dresser, a walk-in closet with crystal-encrusted organizers, and a sitting area with a roaring fireplace. Every detail seemed designed to promote relaxation and tranquility.

Felicity smiled. "This is your room," she said. "Make yourself comfortable. You’ll find everything you need here. My room is just a few meters away so if you need something, feel free to swing by," She said to which Henry nodded

As Henry explored, he discovered a hidden panel concealing a state-of-the-art entertainment system, a mini-bar stocked with various snacks and a private bathroom.

"This is even cooler than the hotel. How the hell did Emily stay here as a child? And why did she decide to leave this... Heaven," he muttered to himself, taking in the magnificence of his new haven. This was too much luxury for one kid.

Felicity was delighted by Henry’s reaction, it was obvious that he liked it. " "Henry, why don’t you take some time to settle in? We can discuss some things over dinner, later."

"Sure, I’ll do that. Thanks," Henry replied with a smile. He was grateful for the generosity and eye satisfying experience he had received since he woke up. And that made him curious about something

"But I’ve been wondering, how did you find me?" he asked Felicity who was about leaving.

She paused and turned back to face Henry. "Oh i didn’t, you would have Alicia to thank for that. She said something about tracing you to the... place where you lost consciousness, and bringing you back to her house, before calling me. Though she didn’t say how she found you," Felicity explained with a gentle smile.

Henry nodded. "She probably placed a tracker on me some time ago, afterall I’m a useful asset to her," he thought

"Though she told me about where she found you and that’s part of the things we’ll be discussing later," Felicity added before leaving the room, leaving Henry to his thoughts.

"So that’s why Emily said i was in trouble earlier, she definitely knows. But I’m guessing she knows way more. That damned girl must have slipped up everything," Henry pondered before walking up to the bed and taking a seat.

"Ah! I really can’t deal with other problems right now, I’ve got my speed rate at stake here. That’s more important," he muttered and laid flat on the bed, thinking of various ways to level up within the short period left.

He pondered for a while before remembering something from earlier. "That’s right there was a notification saying something about an event," Henry said and immediately he thought of the event, the system popped up with a prompt regarding it.

[New event available] (Select to proceed)

"Hmm, i was right. I did receive something called an event key some days ago. Perhaps this is related to it," he muttered and mentally selected the prompt, and the system displayed more information.

[You have met the requirements to unlock an event]

[Kill 5 humans] (Completed)

[Enter a long-term frenzy and eliminate atleast 10 beasts] (Completed)

[Survive a near death experience] (Completed)

[You can now unlock the Event]

[Event key detected. Would you like to unlock the event]

[Yes] [No]

Henry was shocked by the messages displayed in front of him, he had almost died and the system was rewarding him for it.

"What kind of fucked up event revolves around death? To even requiring mine! But if I reject it now, i don’t know if I’ll get the opportunity again," he contemplated. Henry didn’t know how the system hosted it’s events but he was certain of one thing. Events were ways to get cool and rare rewards and it shouldn’t be different with the system, right?

"Yes," he muttered and the screen disappeared for a few seconds, before reappearing again with more prompts.

[Event key has been used]

[New event unlocked >>> Redirecting...]

<Status>

<Quests>

<Events> (New)

<Inventory>

<Shop>

Henry just watched as the system took him back to the starting interface where there was a new tab available. He selected the event option and the tab opened.

[Welcome to the Event center]

[Congratulations you have unlocked the Event {Killing Spree}]

"At this point, I’m not even surprised anymore," he muttered and kept scrolling through the interface.

[Events]

*Killing Spree (Select to enter)

"Alright, let’s see what we have here," Henry muttered inwardly and willed his mind to select the option.

[Welcome to the killing spree event]

<Shop>

[Note: Event ends in 2 months. Complete all the missions before the event ends to receive the final rewards. Take quests to earn more rewards and win cool prizes. Visit the shop and purchase powerful items at a cheaper price. Whatever you do, even if you don’t finish all the missions, just make sure to take opportunity of the event]

Henry had a smug expression on his face, he knew the event would be related to death but didn’t expect it to be this precise.

"What does it even mean by conductor of souls? Oh well, atleast I’ll get some rewards even if I don’t complete the event, and best of all, there’s no penalty," he said, his smug look turning into excitement.

"Alright, let’s check out the tasks," he muttered and began going through all the options one after the other.

<Missions>

*Description: This works as a milestone of stages, complete each stage to move to the next. Finishing all the stages, completes the event.

[Stage 1]

-Kill 500 Magical beasts (1000 Event Coins)

[Stage 2] (Locked)

"This is really nice, all I have to do is kill 500 beasts, easy peasy. But I wonder how many stages are there," Henry thought before shrugging and moving to the next tab.

<Quests>

*Description: Complete quests to earn extra rewards (Exp, Shop points, items and more)

Quests would be refreshed daily (1 quest/day) and you can choose to accept or reject them. Failing an accepted quest won’t lead to any penalty.

[Today’s Quest]

*Level up once (Break through your current level and reach the next)

[Reward: 20 Stat points]

[Would you like to accept]

[Yes] [No]

Henry was stunned, annoyed but stunned. The system knew he had the exact problem of getting to level 10 and there was no possible way he could level up that day.

"Is this system trying to mock me? Well, good job cause I myself enjoy dark humor, you win this time! he yelled in his mind.

"Hopefully the shop would be a bit... welcoming," Henry muttered before selecting the shop option in the event.

<Shop>

*Description: Here, you can buy any weapons, skill, or even anything available for sale. With the right amount of Event Coin, you can purchase it.

[Event Coins: 0]

"Oh so that’s what they’re for," Henry muttered to himself. He had seen the event coins before but didn’t really know what they were for.

"It’s better i guess, if I complete missions, i can earn decent amounts of it and come back here," he said and closed the system interface, he was tired already and wanted to rest a bit, and besides he still had 2 months worth of time before the event ended. So what’s the rush.

Henry closed his eyes and thought about how he would lash out at Alicia, for giving him a toxic velocity 9 knockoff, for tricking him, and for snitching.

"Oh little red, i will take pleasure in causing you pain when I take Axel away from you," he said with a devilish grin. Henry knew that was the only thing he could do to Alicia to exact his revenge. He knew he couldn’t dare engage her in battle, he didn’t have a death wish, he had definitely learnt his lesson on that.

Henry close his eyes and was going to drift away into sleep, but before he could leave the waking world, a knock was heard on the door, interrupting him from his halfway journey.

"Young master, dinner is ready. Mistress Jade has sent for you, she expects your presence at the dining hall and states that I guide you there,"

A man’s voice gently spoke from the other side of the door, it was no doubt the voice of a slightly old man.

"Damn it! Already! I haven’t even freshened up," Henry cursed in his mind and lazily stood up, he was clearly annoyed for his sleep being interrupted just at the start of it. But what he didn’t know was that an hour and half had passed since he arrived. He was both lost in thought and the system that he lost track of time.

"Give me some minutes to wash my face," he voiced out and entered the toilet. After just 45 seconds he came out of the toilet and opened the door to the room.

He was met with a man in his early 50s, he had short black hair with some strands already grey, and a mustache that was already completely grey. He wore an official butler outfit and was wearing black spectacles.

Henry almost laughed when he saw the man, it wasn’t because of the old man’s appearance but rather because of his entire nature.

"I’ll be damned! This woman even got herself her own Alfred, can she get any cooler?" Henry exclaimed in his mind but chuckled outside.

"Let me guess, you’re the mistress’s personal butler?" Henry asked with a smirk

The man’s eye widened in surprise. "Indeed I am... However did you know?" the man replied

Henry’s smirk grew wider. "Just a hunch," he replied. "Shall we?" he motioned with his arms for the man to lead the way. The old man nodded and began walking, Henry following at his back.

"I’m starting to think this world is generally some DC/Disney knockoff." he thought.
