CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 271: Light and Merry

With Mary’s teasing, the mood in the dining room became light and merry again. However, Amy’s reaction remained neutral as she worry about what Rei and Henry said. Just when she thought that they can live normally again, here comes another problem. Just when will it stop? she thought.

"Are you ok, Amy?" Henry asked after noticing her being quiet.

"I am fine, but I am worried about you. It’s obvious that whoever that person is, he or she is targeting you next," Amy said in a worried voice to Henry.

"Aren’t you confident that your husband can fight too? I am better than you, you know," Henry said as he flex his muscular arm.

Amy shoves Henry’s arm away as she giggles. Henry smiled feeling contented that he was able to lure Amy’s thoughts away from all the worry and negativity that’s been running in her mind.

After their eventful breakfast that put their emotions on a roller coaster ride, they all went their separate ways.

Mary, Sandra, Maya, and Amy’s security team went to the opening of the fifth branch. It’s a big kiosk located in a subway station and can only accommodate so much so Amy decided to visit the oil dig site instead and go with the boys and visit the fifth branch some other time.

Amy will be visiting the dig site for the first time, as Theo and his team have been working on it since she entrusted Henry with all matters related to that project. However, despite his involvement, Henry has persistently declined to make it a conjugal property.

Amy expressed her awe, exclaiming, "Impressive, Theo! You and your team are truly remarkable. Your reputation in the construction industry has always been exceptional, and it’s evident in how fast you work." She admired the massive digging machine already positioned and the rapid progress of the building constructions.

Blushing slightly, Theo modestly responded to the compliment, scratching the back of his neck. "To be honest, it’s not just me. My team is the real force behind it all. I simply provide instructions, and they execute with both speed and quality. I must also give credit to the incredible suppliers who won the bidding. They are truly an amazing bunch."

Theo chuckled and shook his head in amusement as he remarked, "You can really see their enthusiasm to complete the job swiftly. And even before that, when they discovered that the project was assigned by none other than Henry Welsh, everyone started making extra efforts to leave a lasting impression on your husband."

"Don’t flatter me too much Theo, the opportunity itself is rare. There are not many oil digging projects in the country so it’s expected that everyone in the industry will do their best," Henry said.

Theo’s response elicited laughter from everyone in the car, including the driver, Tony. "Ah, I understand now. So, you enjoy humbling yourself in front of your wife, huh? Noted," he replied, adding a touch of humor to the conversation.

Henry pointed towards the towering drilling machines and exclaimed, "Do you see that, love? Those gigantic machines are responsible for extracting crude oil from deep underground. And over there, we have the machines dedicated to extracting natural gas. The coal collection phase will come later in the project."

Henry shared his plans, stating, "The revenue generated from the oil and natural gas extraction will be allocated for the coal collection. Ensuring the safety of the workers at the coal mine is paramount to me. That’s why I intend to invest in the best and most advanced machinery and tools available, which will aid them in performing their tasks with enhanced safety measures."

Amy expressed her agreement, saying, "I completely agree with you, my love. If my father were still alive, he would undoubtedly share the same sentiment. He would be immensely proud of his son-in-law, without a doubt."

Rei interrupted the affectionate moment, playfully remarking, "Alright, enough of the sweetness, you two. The ants will surely come hunting for you. We have arrived." As the vehicle came to a halt, they found themselves in front of a trailer container that had been transformed into a temporary office.

Amy playfully retorted, "Says the one who serenaded my cousin in front of many people." Her remark sparked laughter from everyone present making Rei blush.

Rei grinned and responded, "Ha! I like that, cousin. You’re picking up some of my tricks." His remark caused Anton to frown, adding more touch of playful banter to the conversation.

Anton questioned Rei’s use of the term "cuz" for Amy, saying, "Wait, so you’re calling Amy your cousin now?" He then turned to Amy and added, "Amy, can I call you ’Best’ then?" The playful suggestion brought a lighthearted tone to the conversation, inviting further laughter.

Amy chuckled at Anton’s display of jealousy and teased, "Oh, are you implying that you’ll be marrying my best friend soon?"

Everyone fell silent, eagerly waiting for Anton’s response. Henry couldn’t help but chuckle at the situation and interjected, "I must warn you all, engaging in mental games with my wife is a futile endeavor. She’s quite skilled at them, trust me."

Theo joined in with a hearty laugh, applauding Amy’s wit. "Haha! Well said, Amy. It’s not often you see these guys rendered speechless in the presence of a woman. So, I must salute you for that!"

Amy playfully addressed Theo, referencing a question that was left unanswered earlier. "Oh, speaking of which, Theo, Maya, and you, both conveniently avoided answering the question this morning. Are you two dating? Should I start calling you ’Cuz’ as well?"

Theo playfully evaded Amy’s question, stating, "I think I’ll pass on answering that one." He then turned to Henry with a joking expression and added, "Henry, your wife is absolutely lethal. You need to rein her in, please!"

Theo couldn’t help but notice Henry’s laughter in response to his jest. It was apparent to him that Henry had changed since meeting Amy, as evidenced by the increased frequency of his smiles and laughter. It was a noticeable contrast from the Henry Theo had known before.
