CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 278: Pregnancy Test Kit

The travel from the oil dig site to the Welsh’s Mansion takes about two hours with normal traffic, and since Amy went home before the rush hour begins they reach the mansion in no time. Dave drove faster than usual as well making Amy happy since she really wants to just stay in their room and rest.

But what surprised her more than the speedy travel time is what welcomed her upon her arrival. They arrived at the mansion around four in the afternoon and she was bewildered seeing Henry, who usually stays in the office until five or six in the evening. He was just outside their front door standing with flowers and a white teddy bear in his hands, waiting for her. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Dave stopped the car just by the mansion’s main entrance and Henry immediately open the door for her with a big grin on his overly happy face.

Amy frowned, confused about what was going on. There’s no special occasion, no big events, and really nothing to celebrate but here is her husband being excited about something she ha no idea about.

"Welcome home, Love. Do you want to eat anything?" Henry greeted her.

"We just ate at the site. I just want to rest and what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be working?" Amy asked Henry as she receive a kiss followed by the flowers and white teddy bear before they enter their home.

"I decided to go home early to take care of you. I heard you don’t feel good. Do you want me to call the doctor?" Henry replied with an excited giddy voice.

Amy reassured, "Don’t worry about me, my love. I just need some rest." As she began ascending the stairs, she abruptly paused, startled by Henry’s gentle grip on her arm and his supportive presence at her back.

Amy stared at her husband with a confused look, "What are you doing?"

"I am helping you climb the stairs, you might fall," Henry said.

’What the?!’ Amy uttered in her thoughts. Henry is beginning to get on her nerves.

"You don’t need to do that. I am very capable of walking and ascending the stairs on my own," Amy tried her best to politely decline his help. She knows that he was just trying to be a good husband to her. But then again it was too much!

"But I heard you were dizzy and nauseous. I’m worried you might lose your balance while taking your steps," Henry retorted.

"Just who told you that... Hmm... Nevermind..." Amy said after turning her gaze and rolling her eyes at the three people responsible for her current situation.

Ava, Mitch, and Dave, standing on the sidelines, tightly pressed their lips together in an attempt to stifle their amusement at Henry’s behavior and the evident annoyance building within Amy.

Henry trailed closely behind her, assuming a protective role like a father guiding his daughter during her first steps. Amy quickened her pace upon reaching the hallway leading to the master room.

And when she opened the door, there were pink and blue balloons on the floor. The white box on top of their bed also caught her attention. It has no lid, it’s filled with a fabric-like material inside, and from her spot, it looks like there was something sitting on top of it.

"What is going on with you, Henry?!" Amy said, and without waiting for his reply, she walk towards the box to inspect what it is.

To her surprise, it is an unused pregnancy test kit, not just one but three pregnancy test kits. Amy is really losing her temper at that moment. Amy closed her eyes and breathe in deeply before picking up the pregnancy test kits. She turned around to face her husband while trying to keep her emotions in check.

"What are these?" Amy said as she show her open palm to Henry with the test kits on it.

"Pregnancy test kits, Love," Henry said excitedly.

"I know what a pregnancy test kit is! What is this for? Why did you buy it?" Amy exclaimed with an annoyed voice.

Henry frowns in confusion, "Did I buy the wrong brand? Damn it. I should have bought different brands so you can choose."

Amy slumped her shoulders and put both her hands on her face in frustration.

Henry felt frustrated too and regretted that he only purchased the most expensive brand since it was the pharmacist’s recommendation and said that it was the best brand. He held Amy in both arms and said, "Don’t worry, Love. I will personally go back to the pharmacy and buy the brand that you prefer. What brand do–"

Amy gently pushed his arms away and placed the test kits in his hand before saying, "Don’t bother. I’m not pregnant. Get these balloons out of here. I’m tired and I want to rest."

"How did you know? Did you use a test kit already? It could be wrong, they said sometimes it gives out a false negative result. Let’s try a–" Henry was not able to continue for Amy interrupted him.

"I said I’m not pregnant! Are you going to remove these balloons or not?" Amy angrily said.

"Love, I am so sorry. We can try this later if you want. I’ll let you rest first, getting angry is bad for the baby," Henry said as he tried to guide Amy to lay on the bed, but she did not move and made her body stiff, preventing Henry from pulling her gently.

Once again she closed her eyes and sighs, before letting her emotions burst, "There’s no baby! I just had my monthly period this morning! So, yes! There is no baby! I am not pregnant! We failed! Your test kits will not give you a positive result! Got that?!"

Amy stomped her feet as she drop everything that she was holding on the bed; the flowers, the teddy bear, and her bag. She took her favorite pillow before storming out of their room.

Henry stood on his spot stupefied and speechless as he watch his wife flounce off her way out of their room and jolted when she close the door with a loud bang.

"What just happened?" Henry asked himself in disbelief.
