Chapter 280: Congratulations!!!

Amy woke up in the middle of the night after feeling the call of nature. Her bladder is full and needs some attention.

As Amy’s eyes fluttered open, it was already dark outside. The gentle glow of the exterior lighting just outside the balcony’s glass door, which created a subtle illumination in the room, caught her attention.

Her forehead creased after seeing that she was not in the master bedroom, then soon recalled what transpired before she fell asleep. Thankfully, she had a good sleep and that was all she needed to feel better again.

She opted to use the bathroom in the master bedroom to relieve herself and resume her slumber there, where she should be... right beside her husband.

She felt a strong and heavy arm wrapped around her waist when she tried to rise. She smiled, as she instantly recognize that familiar warmth and scent. And who else could it be? Of course none other than the house owner himself, who definitely used the spare key of the room to be able to sleep beside her.

She slowly turned around and saw that gorgeous face that she will never get tired of staring at. Henry was deeply asleep, she kissed him first before she slowly and gently slipped out of his embrace.

She went to their room to change into her pajama since she fell asleep while still wearing her work clothes and also to do her business in the bathroom. It did not take her long to finish everything that she had to since she was in a hurry to go back to Herny’s side before he wakes up and see her gone.

"I am sorry, Amy..."

"Aaah!" Amy’s startled scream echoed throughout the room.

Henry was already leaning his back against the wall beside the en suite’s door when Amy went out of the bathroom. Amy placed both her hands on her chest just above her heart and closed her eyes, waiting for her fastly beating heart to calm down after getting spooked by Henry’s sudden appearance.

"Why do you have to stand there and not wait for me on the bed instead? You almost gave me a heart attack," Amy exclaimed, still feeling her pounding heart.

"I couldn’t wait to apologize to you, please forgive me," Henry began to explain, his voice tinged with remorse. "I just assumed that you are pregnant when Ava told me that you are already on your way home because you suddenly got very tired and also felt dizzy and nauseous. And I–" he trailed off, trying to explain further.

Henry was about to say more but Amy unexpectedly wrapped him in a tight hug, making him do the same to her. Words seemed unnecessary as they held each other right that moment.

"I apologize for becoming easily angered earlier. I was simply exhausted, which is a normal feeling for what I have now, and I wasn’t feeling well either. However, everyone seemed to be constantly hovering over me, bombarding me with questions when all I wanted was some rest. The fatigue got the better of my temper. Please forgive me too, my love," Amy expressed, her voice filled with sincerity and regret.

Henry gently pulled away from their embrace and offered a warm smile at her, "Since both of us regret our actions, let’s just forget about it," Henry suggested, feeling at peace again. "Are you feeling alright now?" He added.

Amy nodded and smiled back at her husband before they walked together to their bed and went back to sleep.

The morning came swiftly and the couple was excited to face a new day with their bond stronger than before. They walked down the hallway and climb down the stairs hand in hand, both were excited to do their planned activity for the day like what they planned before drifting off to sleep.

Having received prior advice from the doctor regarding the possibility of missed months after the miscarriage, Henry was aware that when Amy’s period eventually returned, the first one could be more intense and painful than usual, accompanied by heightened discomfort. As a result, he made a mental note to be exceptionally understanding and nurturing towards Amy during her time of the month.

Last night, Henry suggested that they both take a day off from work and have a movie marathon date within the comfort of their bedroom. He also promised Amy to buy her anything that she wants to eat as they watch her favorite movies together. Amy was elated to hear that from her husband and gladly accepted it.

She knows that whatever discomfort and pain she is feeling right now, it be lessened if Henry is by her side. The timing couldn’t be more perfect since there’s not much work that they need to do in their respective companies that day.

"CONGRATULATIONS!!!"

Amy was startled and jolted by the sudden eruption of loud voices and party poppers as they entered the dining room. Henry instinctively facepalmed himself, realizing that everyone was present and a surprise celebration was unfolding. Once again, he blamed himself, feeling responsible for the unexpected situation.

Regret flooded Henry’s thoughts as he realized that he had failed to correct the assumptions of others the day before, even though he overheard their conversations. He now recognized that his inability to take action could potentially lead to further misunderstandings, especially considering Amy’s current mood, which he understood was influenced by her hormonal fluctuations.

Henry watched Amy gaze at the room, looking at the people present and the decorations around them. Everyone was fully dressed while Amy and Henry are still in their pajamas. The dining room was filled with colorful food and cakes, something that a child would like.

And the unexpected happened, that made him drop his jaw, that almost touch the ground. If that’s even possible. A deep crease formed on his forehead, utterly perplexed by Amy’s reaction. Feeling unsure of how to proceed, he could only observe the unfolding situation and wait for her next move.
