CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 325: [Bonus - ] Missing

It was the first session of Amy’s book signing for the day and she already feels tired and not feeling good. In fact, she was feeling like that for days now. Her separation anxiety is really getting the best of her. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Every day she will sleep tired and will wake up tired again. She has no appetite and every little thing makes her cry. She misses Henry so much, and every time she will think that Jayson and Jena are in the mansion already and that she went on tour right away without spending more time with them first she will feel so guilty and cry again.

She regrets going on that tour, perhaps if she could have at least taken Jena along with her, then maybe she won’t be as homesick as she is now.

During her tour, the routine was to read some excerpts from her book first, then followed by questions and answers from her avid readers.

Mitch received a call from Mary during Amy’s session in of the malls that hosted the book signing session.

Dave who was just in front of her backstage panicked when Mitch dropped her mobile phone and almost slumped to the floor. "Mitch, are you alright, My God! You are so pale!" Dave said before picking up Mitch’s phone and saw Mary’s name on the screen.

"Hello? Mary? What happened? Mitch is in a state of shock," Dave asked rapidly before hearing Mary sobbing on the other end of the line.

Mary narrated what happened and was thankful that Dave is in much better condition after hearing the news, about the explosion.

The book signing session took a while to finish since there are a lot of people who bought the book and ask for Amy’s autograph. And within that time, Dave was able to calm down Mitch and both of them decided to wait for Amy to finish her session before they inform her of the bad news for they know that she will surely be devastated.

"I am famished! Did you see the number of people buying my book, gosh I could not believe it, and it just made me hungry..." Amy merrily said pausing after noticing the gloomy expression of her two bodyguards. "What happened with you two? Did you fight?" Amy asked before drinking from the water bottle that the publishing staff handed her.

"Amy..." Mitch started but stopped to purse her lips to stop herself from crying.

"What? Say it! You are making me nervous," Amy said whose face is already frowning.

"There was an explosion in the wellsite. A lot got hurt and died and..." Dave said and stopped to hold Amy’s arm for she started trembling causing her to drop the water bottle that she was holding.

"What else? Please continue Dave," Amy urged for she was eager to know everything at once.

"Ava is hurt, she’s in the hospital now. Lucas Brighton is dead–"

"What? Uncle Lucas? What is he even doing there? How about Theo?" Amy impatiently asked.

"Theo is fine but—" Dave paused once again after seeing Amy cover her mouth with both hands and tears started to fall from her eyes.

"I-It’s W-Wednesday t-today t-there r-right? Oh my God!!! Inspection day, Henry is there!? Tell me he is ok!?" Amy exclaimed and shook Dave’s shoulders.

"Boss is missing, they said he was inside the pumping station when it exploded and— Amy! Oh God Amy!" Dave shouted when Amy suddenly collapsed right in front of him and Mitch.

The commotion alerted Rei who was speaking with Sophia making both of them go to where the ruckus was coming from.

Rei saw Amy unconscious in Dave’s arms and was about to stand while carrying Amy. He approached Mitch who looked like she cried, "What happened to Amy, and what happened to you?"

"Amy fainted and the mall staff said they have a clinic here where Amy can rest," Mitch said as they follow Dave who was heading towards the said clinic.

"She’s too tired, her schedule is too tight, we should cancel some of her appointments," Rei said, shaking his head.

Mitch then halted and grasp Rei’s arm, "Rei, it’s not about the tour. We received bad news from Mary. There was an explosion in the wellsite. Ava is injured, Lucas Brighton is dead, and Henry is missing, last seen inside the station that exploded," Mitch tried to simplify her words after seeing Amy collapse, she thought that Rei might not take the news well too.

And she was right, Rei lost his balance and almost fell to the ground if she had not grabbed his arms on time, "Rei, get hold of yourself. Amy needs us, Henry trusted us his wife, we must not fail now."

But her words seems like they didn’t register into Rei’s mind so she kneeled to his eye level and made him look into her eyes, "Look at me Rei! Mary said that there was a death threat on Ash and Henry’s life before the explosion happened. If they targeted Henry, guess who will be their next target? It will be Amy! So stand up and let’s do our job! We promise the boss that we will protect his wife with our lives so let’s go and make sure no harm will befall on our lady boss, Alright?" Mitch said.

Thankfully, Mitch’s words awakened Rei’s senses, he nodded and stood up, he fixed his suit before started walking towards the Mall’s clinic.

Mitch walked behind him and saw Rei wipe his face several times. He is obviously shedding tears while trying to keep himself composed and in control. Then she remembered what Mary said about Ava, and Mitch can no longer stop herself from crying while she continue walking toward Dave and Amy.

She just hopes that Ava’s situation is not as horrible as Mary describes it. She hopes that Mary was only panicking and was making a mistake in relaying the information to them.

’Please, be ok Ava. Please, be ok, my dear friend,’ Mitch said inwardly.
