CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 352: Something Smells Fishy
Amy frowned when Henry withdrew his hand away from hers before they stepped out of the room and looked at him with a questioning look.
"Jayson knows who I am and that’s fine. He is a smart boy, but I don’t want the others to know who I am, at least not yet especially the children. With how I look right now, they might get scared of me. Tommy is so proud of how good-looking his dad is, and I don’t want to ruin that image," Henry said as he touched Amy’s cheek.
"As for Rei and Anton, I will talk to them. Please keep this a secret from your other family members and friends as well." Henry pleaded.
Amy nodded and smiled, "Alright, I will keep my mouth sealed."
"You go ahead, I will fetch Mary and the others. She brought your things as well," Henry then went downstairs with a smile on his face. He can’t believe that this day will ever come, but here he is back with his family again.
As soon as Amy cleaned up herself, she immediately went to the waiting area, outside the operating room together with Mary.
"Are you ok, babe? There’s something weird about you. Do you need me to book an appointment with Dr. Martin?" Mary worriedly asked upon seeing Amy looking through the window smiling when she should have been worried about her husband, Ash.
"I am fine, best. Ash already said his goodbye earlier. He is prepared to go today. I don’t want him to suffer anymore. He has been suffering for years and he wants to rest, so I will let him be." Amy said.
Mary’s eyes squinted, she partly believed her reasoning, but her gut was still saying that there was still something that she was hiding. "So, why are you smiling?" she asked.
"I am not smiling," Amy then changed her expression into a serious one. As much as she wanted to announce to the world that Henry is alive, she promised him to keep it for now so that’s what she will do. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Rei, Anton, Sandra, and Henry soon joined the two in the waiting area. Amy’s eyes kept on looking at Henry who was seated at the far end side of the benches, away from everyone.
"Did Tom really save you from Vanessa?" Sandra whispered to Amy.
Amy furrowed her brow and directed her gaze towards Rei and Anton. They had collectively decided to withhold that information from everyone else for the time being. "Who informed you about this?" she inquired of Sandra.
"Your daughter," Sandra replied, causing Amy to palm her face in exasperation before Sandra added, "She was proudly talking about how she assisted you with the blanket and used her jacket to save her Papa Ash."
Amy’s eyes grew wide, and her heart raced with worry that Lia had already spilled the beans about Henry. "What other details did she mention?" she quickly inquired of Sandra.
"Hmm... I believe that’s all," Sandra recounted. "She mentioned that you were crying, and she embraced you until the bad lady was taken away. She was so frightened that she shut her eyes," Sandra added.
Amy let out a sigh of relief, thankful that her talkative daughter hadn’t witnessed everything.
"Babe, it’s been quite a while. I’m going to grab some coffee. What would you like?" Mary inquired. They had been waiting for over three hours, and no one had emerged from the operating room to provide updates on Ash’s condition.
"I’ll go with you," Amy said.
They made their way to a Bellory Cafe branch on the ground floor. Mary frequently cast glances at Amy, uncertain if it was the appropriate moment to pose her question.
"Spill it out, Mary. I know you have something to say, so just say it." Amy said after noticing Mary’s uneasiness.
"Ok, here it goes... I am just wondering if what is your plan once Ash is gone?" Mary finally asks.
"Why do you ask?"
"Well, I am worried about you and the kids. Our house is almost finished and we will move there soon. Sandra and Rei will get married and will move out too. We don’t want you to feel all alone in that big mansion of yours." Mary uttered sadly.
But to Mary’s surprise, Amy chuckled. "I will not be alone, best. I will get married, so stop worrying about me."
Amy then entered the cafe leaving Mary flabbergasted on her spot. She stood there with a dropped jaw as her eyes followed her best friend.
Instead of feeling at ease with Amy’s words, Mary felt the opposite. She got worried more, ’Who the hell is she going to marry when she is not even dating someone?’ Mary thought.
Mary followed Amy to the cashier to order, "So that would be, 3 Caramel Macchiato, and 3 Cappucino–" Mary was not able to finish for Amy butted in.
"Just 2 Cappucino. And 1 Cafe Latte," Amy said.
"But Rei and Anton said they want Cappucino," Mary remarked.
"It’s for Tom. He doesn’t like the foam in Cappucino, he prefers Latte." Amy casually said before giving her card to the cashier to pay.
Mary tilted her head and looked at Amy, "When did you learn this? I didn’t see you talking to him before we went here. Plus I thought you hated the man and you wanted to fire him?"
"I change my mind. I will keep him," Amy smiled with twinkling eyes before leaving Mary to go to the order-receiving area.
’Something smells fishy here...’ Mary just knew her best friend so well that she couldn’t hide anything from her for too long.
When they went back to the waiting area, Mary watched Amy’s every move like a hawk. She saw Amy hand the coffee to Tom and the two smiled at each other. Tom was only wearing a mask and without his sunglasses. Mary is sure that Amy and Tom have the same twinkling eyes that she saw earlier in the coffee shop.
