CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1518 - 1526: Not Really Keen
James Black stood next to Jane Sampson and looked down at Ostrich Jane, once again tugging her quilt away.
"Get up," he said.
How come you weren’t this cowardly when ordering takeaway?
Now you’re so scared you won’t even come out from under the quilt.
Jane Sampson actually shut her eyes and pretended to be asleep, unmoving. James Black watched her act, which was so convincing he almost couldn’t hold back his laughter.
"Pretending to sleep won’t work." James Black reached out and dragged her straight out of the bed, asking, "You’re still taking medicine. Do you remember what the doctor told you?"
Without opening her eyes, Jane Sampson responded right away, "No fried food, no junk food."
Seeing that pretending to sleep wasn’t working, Jane Sampson quietly opened her eyes to sneak a glance at James Black. Seeing his face as dark as ink, she immediately shut her eyes again.
But she stretched out her arms to hold James Black, curling herself completely into his arms, her voice muffled as she said: "I was in a bad mood, so I wanted to order it. I didn’t plan on eating it. I just wanted to smell it, really, I just ordered it to smell it."
At this point, James Black wasn’t going to believe anything that came out of Jane Sampson’s mouth.
Seeing James Black’s face still cold and silent, Jane Sampson finally realized that he was truly angry. Not a single word she said was going to change that. "James~" Jane pouted, "I was wrong, it won’t happen again."
Oh, come on. Daddy Black’s face was already pitch black. If she didn’t apologize now, she’d definitely be doomed.
"I won’t do it again. I absolutely won’t do it again." Jane Sampson was just short of swearing an oath to the heavens.
Seeing James Black unmoved, she bit her lip lightly, her eye sockets growing red. When she spoke again, her voice was choked with emotion, and her tears hovered on the edge of falling, looking so pitiful.
"I was just in a bad mood, so I wanted to eat something. I thought if I ate something delicious, I’d feel a bit happier. I was wrong, I won’t do it again. Please don’t be angry or ignore me." As she said this, tears began to pitifully roll down her face, one by one, while her small hand tugged at his sleeve, shaking it gently.
No matter how angry James Black had been just now, he was completely helpless now.
He was truly afraid of Jane Sampson crying.
Whenever she cried, he would feel so desperate that he’d want to go back to the living room to fish the stuff out of the trash can just to cheer her up.
Although he knew perfectly well that her crying was more acting than genuine at this moment, James Black still couldn’t help feeling heartache.
"Never again. If this happens again, no amount of whining or sulking will work." James Black raised his hand to wipe the corners of her eyes. "You’d make a great actor with that kind of talent."
She could cry on cue.
Seeing that James Black wasn’t going to hold it against her, Jane Sampson immediately grinned cheekily at him and then kissed him on the cheek.
James Black raised his hand and flicked her forehead lightly.
Hah, as if you can laugh just like that.
"You said you weren’t going to hold it against me, yet you’re hitting me now?" Jane Sampson pouted her lips and let out a humph.
"Have you ever seen me really hit someone?" James Black’s voice turned cool as he glanced at Jane Sampson, who was rubbing her forehead and rolling her eyes at him. "Want to find out?"
"Not really," Jane Sampson blurted out.
"Next time, even if you’re genuinely crying, I’ll lock all your bank cards!" James Black said. "So spoiled, so naughty, eating random junk. When you get sick, you’ll really have a tough time."
Jane Sampson giggled awkwardly while playing dumb, then burrowed back into James Black’s arms, saying softly, "I really know I was wrong. I’ll never do it again because I know that if I get sick, you’d be so worried about me."
After speaking, Jane Sampson curiously added, "If I mess up again, you wouldn’t really lock my bank cards, would you? What am I supposed to do with no money?"
