Chaos' Heir-Chapter 1137: Father
A noble family could get things done in record time, especially one as united as Khan's. However, technology had limitations, and Nott Station's location and available space didn't help.
Each project required an unending series of transportation of valuable materials. Nott Station's teleport wasn't big, to begin with, so Garret and Gordon had to plan how to approach the many projects, what to prioritize, and how to smooth out everything to save time.

The specialized manpower was the easiest to teleport, and the same went for the more advanced working equipment. The ships should have been outside that group, but Khan's forces solved the problem by dismantling and reassembling them once they reached Nott Station.
That method was by no means cheap, and Nott Station didn't have the necessary reserves of synthetic mana to operate the teleport non-stop. So, the Nognes family also had to send containers with suitable fuel every once in a while to keep everything up and running as much as possible.
Nevertheless, the magnitude of Khan's requests wasn't something that incredible planning and roundabout ways could solve. He had requested a training area, a teleport, an overhaul of Nott Station, a whole colony, and all kinds of scientific equipment, so the Nognes family couldn't just rely on the space station.
Something could be delivered through the teleport, but the main and most encumbering bulk of the required equipment ended up in large cargo rides the Nognes family shipped from the nearest available locations. They would take a while to arrive due to Nott Station's position in the universe, but the issue had no other solution.
Despite the many logistical problems, everything proceeded quickly and smoothly. The Nognes family showed the full extent of its assets, specialized personnel, finances, and planning capabilities to make its true leader's wishes come true. Nobles were at the peak of the Global Army for a reason, and Nott Station became an undeniable proof of that.
Nott Station transformed day by day, both inside and outside. Its old, barely managed corridors and spaces began to feature the peak of what humankind had researched in the past decades or longer.
Meanwhile, Nott Station's orbit saw all kinds of new structures added to its core body. Its defensive capabilities improved by leaps and bounds, more spaces were added to its overall architecture, and the Nognes family even replaced its engines, almost pushing it to the state-of-the-art category.
The transformations didn't stop at Nott Station. The main bulk of the materials had yet to reach the area, but the Nognes forces began to tinker with Blue Moon colony and Coravis, especially the latter.
Soldiers established a stable foothold on Blue Moon colony, securing part of its brittle structure while preparing the locals for the imminent migration. The White Mouse crew helped there, doing their best to reassure those poor settlers when facing forces from a noble family. Things were slow on that front, but progress happened nonetheless.
As for Coravis, the planet received more specialized attention than Nott Station. Khan had mentioned his desire to terraform it, and the Nognes forces used that as an excuse to send as many teams and assets as possible. Those crews even believed that, but the true briefing only happened once they reached that boundless sea.
Khan had partially minced his words during the briefing, mostly because no explanation could describe the scale of his discovery. Yet, the event had still shocked Garret to the core, and he knew that similar things couldn't be handled lightly or publicly.
The known universe didn't have many intelligent species, but they were numerous enough to create a complicated political array. Most interacted with each other at a certain level, but few chose isolation as the Niqols had done after the sunlight.
Still, discovering a new intelligent species was always an incredible event that often demanded a full-scale mobilization. Much could be learned from different anatomies and cultures, and humankind never shied away from exploring those traits to extrapolate them into something it could use.
Nevertheless, humankind had no place there. It might actually be catastrophic to reveal Khan's discovery to the public. Garret knew even something as powerful as the Nognes family would lose its freedom once images of the Great Old One started spreading through the network.
Dead or not, the ancient creature was a priceless finding, and Garret wanted to keep it for himself as long as possible. That was the only way to ensure undisturbed study and monopoly over its results, as well as preventing the spread of mass panic among the other intelligent species.
So, Garret summoned and sent teams of scientists, soldiers, and military equipment to Coravis under the ruse of the terraforming projects, only to reveal the truth after those men reached the planet.
After a short period, the Nognes forces enforced a tight lockdown around Coravis. Nothing could enter or exit the planet without going through a series of intricate security measures and Garret's specific order. Everything had to stay inside Coravis, focused on studying the immense snake without leaking a single piece of news.
As for Khan, he received constant updates and summaries about the various projects but rarely read them. He spent the entirety of his time inside his quarters, never breaking his complete isolation to immerse himself in his mental training.
That went on almost completely uninterrupted for a long time. Actually, Khan only took a single break during that period, and the decision had nothing to do with his constantly worsening state.
Around two weeks after Princess Rachel left Nott Station, Khan received a priority notification and interrupted everything he was doing, encircling himself in food and booze. He was tired beyond reason, but his anxiety was greater as he stared almost unblinkingly at his phone.
The device was silent. Khan had set it that way, ignoring everything but what he was waiting for. Nothing else had to disturb him that day since only one thing mattered, and he waited hours on end until a message finally arrived.
Khan jumped on the device he had left on the floor before unlocking its screen. He could face death without giving it much thought but was truly scared that day. Khan feared his bad luck would have infected one of his dearest friends, but the picture that popped up on his phone immediately dispersed that profound terror.
'Say hello to Michael,' A message read under the picture of a healthy newborn. 'Knowing his father, his wiener is bound to surpass yours in a few days.'
Khan couldn't help but explode into a short laugh as strength abandoned his legs and made him lie on the floor. He stared at the ceiling, an idiotic smile seemingly stuck on his face. As absurd and unrealistic as it sounded, George had truly become a father.
