Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 249: The daunting lunch - II

Maybe it was just Evelyn thinking like this but the house now had a different vibe than before. It felt more scary.

Salvatore did not leave her head the entire time table walking towards the stairs and then climbed down. Arabella was standing with her nanny and the moment she saw her parents walk towards her, she raised her arms into their direction.

Without even giving her a chance to step towards the direction of her daughter, Salvatore stepped up and picked up the child.

Evelyn watched as Arabella snuggled into the shoulder of her father before releasing a content Sigh. If that was not a sign from the universe, she didn’t know what was.

They all sat on the dining table that was outside in the gardens. It was a good weather for brunch and the tree that overshadowed the dining table beneath it made the perfect location.

"Look at the eyes, Angelo." Alexis, very gently pinched the cheek of her child. " I always wanted blue eyes and the child has such bright ones."

Arabella did have bright blue eyes.

Evelyn looked at Salvatore with some hope that he would comment and she would come to know about what he wanted to say but none of that happened.

He eyed Arabella before going back to drinking his white wine.

Okay, she nodded to herself. So what if he did not comment for her child’s eyes. Not everyone was into eyes.

Alexis had made numerous attempts to get Angelo to look at Arabella. After the last attempt of getting him to look at her eyes, she sighed before picking up a glass of wine. It looks like she was done with the conversation too.

Salvatore on the other hand was completely unbothered. He had even started to pick on a pastry and began to eat it. The man did not even notice the tension in the atmosphere. To her it felt like something she could cut through with a knife.

Evelyn felt like saying something but then she just shut down like Alexis did and made Eye contact with her. Alexis on the other hand just shrugged as if she was done with the entire event.

"Adoption," Angela said after sometime in the eyes of all four of them went towards him, " what made you think of adoption?"

" you did it." Salvatore did not miss a beat. " what did you think about?"

That might not turn events into the direction that Evelyn would have liked. So she cleared her throat before replying to the previous question asked by Angelo, "I just felt attracted to Arabella the first time I saw her. And since she was in an orphanage, I thought of... Adopting her and Salvatore agreed."

Angelo scoffed. "He?" He pointed towards his son. "He agreed to take someone under his name and protection? Don’t take me for a fool, girl." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Why can I not?" Salvatore spoke as if he was in no hurry and he had rehearsed the conversation before. "She is a child. There is nothing she will bring to me except for Evelyn being happy and I can do that at least."

The Words happy and at least did not sit well with her especially when Alexis closed her eyes.

If she had earlier sought a hidden meaning in his words, then the reaction of his mother just confirmed them. It was Known by everyone that Alexis did not have an easy beginning in Allesandro house and Angelo was no easy man to deal with but the word happy surely confirmed many other rumours.

"Salvatore," Alexis said under her breath, " Let the past be in the past."

However, the father and the son duo stared at each other as if the woman had not spoken anything.

Angelo leaned back in his chair. "happy? If she was happy she wouldn’t have run away in the first place. Why did she run away? And why instead of your honeymoon, did she go to New York?"

"Angelo!" Alexis hissed. "Stop that!"

"Why should I?" He turned to his wife. "He seems to have all the answers in the world so he should provide me with some. I have been looking for them for quite awhile."

Angelo turned back to Salvatore, "so? Why did she run away?"

Salvatore’s face reddened more than ever she had seen. "The fuck do you want to do with this conversation? You came here to meet the child, meet her and get out."

"Get out?" Angelo scoffed. "is that what you said to her that made her run away from you?"

Oh my God, Evelyn barely controlled herself. Why was Angelo aiming to pick up a fight with Salvatore?

"Angelo," Alexis hissed and held his hand. "Stop please."

At that moment, she glanced at her husband. Had he really not told anyone anything about why she had run away. That would definitely put a hallmark on his reputation for some time. Had he not even told his father about it?

But why did you do that? It was stupid to expect or even think about him loving her. These men did not do that. And if anything, he would have loved to remove the hallmark on his reputation but he did not do that either. So should she confirm her suspicions that seemed ridiculous? Or should she look for another way?

Salvatore huffed and got up before walking away from the table and Evelyn watched him, Deciding if she should follow him or not. And if she did, she would have to take Arabella with her.

"Hello you," Angelo picked her Daughter up and Evelyn felt her eyes widen. What was he doing?

He spoke a few sentences in Italian but when it became blatantly clear that she did not know the language he tsked disapproval. "you must learn the language of your country now. You are of Italian heritage now." He said in English and booked the nose of bella.

He started to lightly Balance her daughter as he had her in his arms and Arabella seemed to enjoy it.

It was then he looked at Evelyn and addressed her, "you have my blessings, both you and my granddaughter. I just like pissing my son off. So, forget about that."

Evelyn nodded. Salvatore did seem pissed off.
