Chapter 315: Chapter 304: Ba Yibao (Third Update)

The doctor tried calling Qin Xi several times, but she didn’t wake up. After listening to her heartbeat, the Chinese doctor who was just checking on Li Xianglu was also taken aback and told everyone, "It’s okay, she’s really just sleeping." She’s just sleeping very deeply.

Li Xianglu felt extremely heartbroken. Qin Xi had been too tense these past few months. In the last two months, her blood pressure had been consistently high, and she also suffered from insomnia and hair loss. Now that she was sleeping so deeply, she must have let go of her worries.

Therefore, everyone moved Qin Xi to another bed to sleep, and lowered their voices, letting the child’s father rest properly.

After noon, Li Xianglu felt revitalized after eating a big bowl of chicken soup noodles, finally feeling alive again, although the wound on her belly still ached faintly, but it was bearable.

In the afternoon, when Sister Xing came to apply a hot compress to Li Xianglu’s breasts, Qin Xi was still asleep. Everyone was worried again and called the doctor to check on her. After confirming she was still sleeping, they let her be. Everyone was curious, wondering who actually gave birth, as they must be exhausted.

After the hot compress on her breasts, Li Xianglu had a massage and compression for half an hour, and finally, some milk was squeezed out.

However, the initial milk was a bit yellow. Sister Xing suggested discarding it, saying it was unclean.

Li Xianglu firmly shook her head, insisting that the yellow milk was colostrum, which is good for the baby. Fortunately, the Foreign Doctor spoke up, and everyone agreed.

Thus, Ba Yi and Ba’er tasted their mother’s milk for the first time, having previously only had formula.

Now the children still didn’t have names. When Qin Zhen learned that one nephew was born in the last five minutes of the year Ba Yi and the other early in the morning of Ba’er, he simply decided to name them accordingly.

Everyone found the names catchy, so the children got their nicknames.

The older one, Ba Yi, and the younger, Ba’er.

However, the first breastfeeding session yielded very little milk, and the twins only managed a few sips before it was gone. They had to resort back to formula, but fortunately, the formula at that time was of good quality and didn’t contain melamine, which reassured Li Xianglu.

At eight in the evening, Li Xianglu had a big bowl of red dates and longan Xiao Mi porridge, and ate two cabbage and pork buns with almost no salt. Thus, Ba Yi and Ba’er were fed again, and this time the milk was noticeably more abundant.

However, feeding two boys with big appetites was too much for the limited amount of milk Li Xianglu had, and they each needed additional formula to settle down to sleep.

By afternoon, the visitors had gradually left, leaving only the sleeping Qin Xi and Leng Qing watching over them in the hospital.

At night, when all was quiet, Li Xianglu felt something was off as she slept, so she forced herself to open her eyes and saw Qin Xi sitting beside her under the dim light of the lamp, smiling at her.

Li Xianglu smiled, "You’re awake?"

Qin Xi nodded and said, "I slept so deeply, I thought it was already morning, but it’s only just past four."

Li Xianglu grinned oddly and asked, "Do you know what day it is today?"

Qin Xi didn’t know why Li Xianglu was asking about the date, but she answered anyway, "The first, our son was born just after midnight on the first."

Li Xianglu shook her head and said, "It’s the second; you’ve been asleep for a full day and night, and no one could wake you."

Qin Xi was taken aback, just about to speak when she saw Leng Qing, who was lying on the folding bed next to Li Xianglu, wake up.

Leng Qing got up and glanced at Li Xianglu, then poured her a bowl of red date soup, which Qin Xi quickly took and personally fed to Li Xianglu.

Li Xianglu was indeed thirsty, the hospital’s heating was too strong, and she gulped it down quickly. Just after finishing, she heard a gurgling noise.

Li Xianglu shifted her gaze to Qin Xi’s stomach. Qin Xi also touched her belly, feeling very hungry. It seemed she really had slept for an entire day and night, otherwise she wouldn’t feel such emptiness in her stomach.

Leng Qing came in holding a child. Li Xianglu, already skilled from feeding twice before, deftly opened her clothes to feed the child—it was Ba’er in the red blanket, who was fussing loudly, so Leng Qing had to bring this little master over first.

After feeding on his mother’s milk, Ba’er’s previously wide-open little mouth obediently closed and he began to suck vigorously.

Qin Xi watched somewhat dazedly as his wife’s white bosom was embraced by a plump red mouth, then after a long while, he turned to ask Leng Qing, who was holding a blue blanket: "Is there anything to eat?"

Leng Qing placed Ba Yi next to Li Xianglu’s bed before going to fetch the buns and chicken soup placed on the windowsill.

Qin Xi ate six large meat buns and drank a large bowl of soup before continuing to dazedly watch the other child in the blue blanket nurse.

Ba’er in the red blanket was clearly more troublesome; once one breast was emptied, Leng Qing had to give him a bottle, but he resisted with his little pink tongue, unwilling to eat.

Helplessly, Leng Qing tried to insert the bottle several times before he reluctantly started to drink, clearly showing his disdain.

Qin Xi blinked curiously: "Does the child not like formula?"

Li Xianglu yawned and said: "Ba’er is picky, he doesn’t like formula."

"Ba’er?" Qin Xi raised his eyebrows in confusion.

Seeing that Ba Yi had finished nursing, Li Xianglu picked up another bottle to feed him, but Qin Xi took it from her, clumsily picked up the child, and though awkward, fortunately Ba Yi had a good temperament. Even if uncomfortable, he only whimpered a few times before starting to feed again.

Li Xianglu watched the child in Qin Xi’s arms with a tender gaze and smiled: "Qin Zhen named them. The one you’re holding in the blue blanket is the older brother, called Ba Yi, and the naughty one in the red blanket held by Leng Qing is the younger brother called Ba’er."

Qin Xi nodded, thinking the names were interesting and nice.

Li Xianglu, relaxing deeply, leaned on the pillow, lovingly watching the two children and said with a smile: "The younger Ba’er is impatient and temperamental, difficult to manage, while the older Ba Yi is especially easygoing. After eating, he sleeps. Even if his diaper is wet, he only whimpers a bit."

Qin Xi couldn’t believe that so much had happened just while he was asleep, and as he placed the well-fed, sleeping Ba Yi next to Li Xianglu’s pillow, he said with a laugh: "Wife, you’ve had a hard time!"

Li Xianglu nodded, speaking contemplatively: "Indeed, Old Qin, you have to educate them well in the future. They must be filial to me, otherwise I’ve suffered through this surgery for nothing."

Qin Xi was only slightly startled by the nickname ’Old Qin.’ Ah, his wife’s illness was incurable, now ’Old Qin,’ then ’Xixi,’ and ’Daddy,’ just as he was getting used to one nickname, she would change it.

After the children had their fill, Leng Qing took them to the nursery.

By the time he returned, the couple had both fallen asleep.

Leng Qing smiled and then lay down on the folding bed.

Li Xianglu stayed in the hospital for two full weeks before she was allowed to go home, and the twins also came to their new home for the first time after two weeks.
