Chronicle of the 70s-Chapter 319 - 308: A Different Feeling (Part 2)
Sitting in the car back to Li Family Village, Xianglu caressed the familiar face in the photo and smiled at Anna next to her, "In the blink of an eye, everyone has gone their separate ways."
Anna smiled too and said, "That’s true. Xiao Chong’s boyfriend is not bad at all; he resigned from the job arranged by his family and went to Shanghai for Xiao Chong."
Xianglu nodded, "Yes, who would have thought."
It’s uncertain if Xiao Chong’s boyfriend will regret it in the future, but since both of them are now working in the bank, they shouldn’t have any major issues as long as they stick together, especially given their significant influence in their respective fields.
Next come Wang Ke, who went back to his hometown and married the doctor he was engaged to, working in the local county finance department.
Xu Xin has also returned to his county but works in the city. The ’Iron Army’ classmate, who got married as a junior, also works in the city hospital; who knows if they will have conflicts later on because of not having children.
Thinking of this, Xianglu looked up and asked, "Where was Iro assigned?"
Anna sighed deeply and said, "She is working at the finance department where her husband’s military unit is stationed."
Xianglu raised an eyebrow, what was the reason for this? Those surnamed Wang are not good news.
Logically, she should have severed ties earlier; why did Iro choose to stay close to him?
Anna also seemed quite irritable and exclaimed, "It’s infuriating. Iro’s father had arranged a position for her in the same unit as mine, but Iro refused. She said ’to marry a chicken, follow the chicken, to marry a dog, follow the dog.’"
Xianglu was momentarily stunned, feeling a sense of resigned frustration. But is making others uncomfortable making her happy? Everyone lives for themselves; why should you care about others’ pain or regret? Taking a wrong path and then turning back promptly is the most effective solution. How can one knowingly continue down the wrong path?
Anna sighed again and said, "This Chinese New Year, neither Iro nor that Wang came back to her maternal home."
Xianglu glanced sideways, it seemed that Iro was indeed severing ties with the Ai family.
Anna continued, "Half a year after Iro got married, Ai Xin’s elder brother got a promotion, and it was rumored around the courtyard that it was the Wang Family who pulled some strings."
Xianglu frowned, no wonder Mr. Ai agreed to let Iro marry Wan Mingxiang.
Anna sighed and said, "Ai Luo’s mother, Sha Xinyu, made a big fuss at home. She originally planned to use the Wang Family to secure a good position for Ai Xin, but it ended up going to her elder son, who isn’t her biological child, and she was furious."
Li Xianglu didn’t even want to speak anymore. What in the world were Ai Luo’s parents thinking, sacrificing a child’s lifetime happiness for a position? Even if Ai Luo marries someone else, things might not always go smoothly, but at least she would have chosen him herself. Even if she wasn’t entirely happy, she would still feel content. But being forced to marry someone she doesn’t even want to marry? Even if the man is good and has prospects, happiness would still be unattainable, because marriage should inherently be based on feelings.
Lu Anna ate with Li Xianglu in the courtyard house. After dinner, while cradling Ba’er who had just gorged himself and was now lying in bed blowing bubbles, Lu Anna looked more and more amused, "Xiangxiang, you can’t deny boys really are different from girls."
Li Xianglu, observing Lu Anna’s fond look, couldn’t help asking, "What’s up, has your family been urging you to have a second child?"
Lu Anna widened her eyes: "How did you know?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Isn’t that obvious? Even today, most people still favor boys over girls. Like Su Yan, although she has been influenced by nearly twenty years of education and living abroad, she still has a particular fondness for boys.
Lu Anna sighed and said, "Actually, my mom really adores Minmin. You know about my three brothers; in their families, all they have are sons: my eldest brother has three sons, my second brother has two sons, and my third brother’s child is Ping An. So, my family really dotes on Minmin. But my mom says a woman should have a son by her side."
Li Xianglu laughed: "Look at your family planning situation; if you want to have more children, you can only go abroad or to Hong Kong. But think carefully whether you really need a son or just want more children regardless of gender. After all, a family of three can feel a bit lonely."
Lu Anna, looking at Ba’er in her arms who was rubbing his nose with his little hands wrapped in cotton because he’s so active and might scratch his face, had to tie up his hands with cotton after trimming his nails, but he kept moving nonetheless.
Lu Anna looked at Ba Yi, who was lying on the bed playing by himself, and suddenly laughed, "Ah, why do we need so many kids? We have two from your family. I can’t believe anyone would dare bother Minmin in the future."
Seeing how quickly Lu Anna had come around, Li Xianglu was a bit curious, "What happened, not thinking about having a son by your side anymore?"
Lu Anna smiled and said, "Sons and daughters are the same; daughters are even more thoughtful. Look at my eldest brother’s family, three sons. The eldest is already eighteen. My sister-in-law said that during the holidays, she’s the only one busy in the kitchen while four men sit in the living room waiting to eat. It’s enough to drive you mad."
Li Xianglu thought about that scenario; it was just like that back in Li Family Village, with Mr. Li, Qin Xi, Qin Zhen, and occasionally the third brother would also come. Weren’t they four men waiting to eat? Although Grandpa would help out too. Qin Xi always helped with everything, and although Qin Zhen did less, he would at least wash the dishes.
Li Xianglu looked at her two sons and smiled, "I guess I need to train my two kids early, otherwise in the future if they have a headache or a cold and want something hot, they’ll still need to do it themselves."
Lu Anna giggled as she put the two children together before comparing them.
Originally, the two kids looked very alike, separated only by a birthmark on Ba’er’s buttock, otherwise only distinguishable by wearing clothes of different colors. However, as they were growing, due to their different personalities, people familiar with them could recognize them at a glance.
Ba’er is lively and likes to hum; he hums when picked up and likes people to rock him, while Ba Yi is much quieter, his eyebrows and eyes serene. Familiar people can tell them apart immediately, but it’s hard for those who meet them for the first time. They just look so alike.
As April arrived, Li Xianglu’s leave was over, and she officially started working. Da Li then found a woman in her forties to come over and take care of the twins. Initially, Li Xianglu was a bit uneasy, but it turned out the lady was very skilled at caring for children. The twins rarely fussed, and as soon as there was any sign of discomfort, the lady would know what was wrong and deal with it immediately, making Li Xianglu feel much relieved after observing for a few days.
So, she moved everything out of the living room, turning it directly into a play area for the two children. Every day, as Li Xianglu and Qin Xi left for work, Su Yan and Leng Qing would come over, helping with the children while chatting.
