Chapter 331: Chapter 320: Homecoming, Second Update (Will Revise Later)

Leng Qing hesitated before opening it and was immediately startled by the glittering gold inside; hastily closing the lid, she pushed it towards Li Xianglu, quickly saying, "I can’t accept this!"

Li Xianglu was taken aback for a moment, then pulled Leng Qing to sit by her bed and said, "Inside there is a pair of gold bracelets and a gemstone ring that I’m giving to you, the rest is the money saved up by my third brother, asking me to buy them for you in advance, for you to wear when you get married."

Leng Qing hesitated again, then reopened the wooden box. This was a twenty-centimeter long, ten-centimeter deep box made of elm, also part of the batch made for Qin Zhen and Lu Anna’s engagement.

Back then, Qin Xi had found an elderly master craftsman, over seventy years old, who was exceptionally skilled in woodworking. The jewelry boxes he made featured inlaid lotus leaves, which were exquisitely done. Li Xianglu particularly liked them and had him make ten large and ten small ones on the spot. She figured she could give them away if there were extras, as such items might be hard to come by in the future.

Leng Qing glanced at the jewelry inside and found a full set including the bracelets and gemstone ring mentioned by Li Xianglu. Since they were something Li Jianqing had asked to be bought, accepting them seemed okay, but the ones given by Li Xianglu felt a bit too generous.

She was originally an orphan, trained and employed by Xu Wu in recent years in Hong Kong. Her current mission from Xu Wu was to protect Li Xianglu and also to look after the two little ones.

She had reported her plans to get along with Li Jianqing in advance, and though Xu Wu had agreed, she was somewhat concerned about the process of them getting a marriage certificate.

Her household registration was in Hong Kong, where marriage procedures and inspections were quite troublesome, and she didn’t know if it would affect Xu Wu.

However, Xu Wu had sent a message through Da Li, telling her not to worry.

There wasn’t much left to take; the two quilts Li Xianglu had sent to Li Erfu’s place in advance, and there was a red cloth bedsheet, reserved for use on the wedding day. Most other items had been placed in the courtyard house, waiting to be moved over once the yard was cleaned up.

Li Xianglu and Qin Xi had to go to work, so Hu Zi drove Leng Qing to the train station.

It wasn’t until the next afternoon when Li Xianglu got home that she heard from Su Yan that Leng Qing had called; she had already arrived in Beihai Province and met Li Jianqing.

Li Xianglu had been busy for several days, and with Leng Qing gone, she still wasn’t idle, as without a helper, Ba’er, who usually slept with Leng Qing, had to be brought back.

To ensure that Li Xianglu and Qin Xi were refreshed for work the next day, the two children would, after two months, each be taken care of by the newly arrived Aunt Ma and Leng Qing at night. They used to sleep with Leng Qing when they were younger and seldom fussed. Now excited to be sleeping with Li Xianglu and others, Ba’er was overjoyed.

The little guy thought he could only play with his mom during the day, but now he could even at night, so he simply stayed awake. After a few days, Li Xianglu went to work with dark circles under her eyes.

Ba’er, the little friend, had no issues, as he could make up for lost sleep during the day. Consequently, he completely reversed his sleeping schedule, sleeping during the day and staying awake at night. Even at one in the morning, his eyes were bright, looking at his mom, anticipating what they would play next.

Li Xianglu almost cried.

Having no choice, Su Yan discussed with Aunt Ma and decided to just sleep with the two children herself. After all, the kids were getting older, already one year old, and they needed less milk at night and could often sleep through.

So Aunt Ma ended up sleeping with the two little ones, finally freeing Li Xianglu.

Meanwhile, Mr. Qin, Li Huan, and the naughty kid Xiong Youxin finally returned home, making it back on the 29th day of the lunar year. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Without the two at home, it felt desolate, so they decided to spend the New Year at the courtyard house first and return on the third day of the lunar New Year to tidy up. Xiong Youxin, in particular, was very eager; when she left, the two little ones hadn’t been born yet, and now she was excited to meet them.

Originally, Mr. Qin and his wife had set off two months ago, but they stayed in Hong Kong for half a month and then went to Shanghai. From Shanghai, they took another two days to return to the capital, so the journey took a full two months in total.

Li Xianglu and the others took their holiday on the 29th day of the lunar year and came back early to help Sister Xing with the frying.

This year, with fewer people at home and key members like Li Jianqing and Qin Zhen absent, they still couldn’t skimp on the food, thanks to Mr. Qin, Yang Huan, and Xiong Youxin filling in.
