Chapter 5: My Saviour

Kiana’s Pov;

It was him.

The boy from the other day, the one who had stepped in for me when Maddox was humiliating me and got beaten for daring to interfere.

I never thought I’d see him again. Not now, not like this..not when I want to end everything.

I wanted to scream at him, to curse him for stopping me, to cry until my chest broke open. But the moment my gaze locked with his, the fury in his eyes stole every word from my throat.

His fists were clenched so tight his knuckles trembled, veins standing out like they might burst.

For a second, he looked like he could burn the whole world for daring to hurt me. And then... slowly, his gaze softened. He crouched in front of me, close enough that I could feel the tremor in his breath.

"Are you insane?" His voice was cold, sharp, yet cracking under the weight of something deeper.

"What made you think death would solve anything? Do you even know what happens after you die?" he raised his brow, then tilted his head to the side and exhaled deeply before continuing.

"Someone who loves you, someone who cares about you will carry the guilt for the rest of their life. They’ll blame themselves forever for not saving you. Is that what you want? Tell me, why should death be the only option for you?"

Then tears slid down his face, quiet and raw. And for the first time, I couldn’t tell whose pain was heavier—his, or mine.

I just stared at him in awe as my heart began to beat fast. He tried really hard to push in the tears but it kept falling automatically.

And so I did what I’ve never done before since I met Maddox, I gave him a tight hug and patted his back.

"It’s okay..." I whispered softly," it’s all over now, it’s over."

"I’m sorry for not finding you early, I’m so sorry for not being able to help you." he sobbed, his voice was shaky and trembling.

My eyes began to tear up and so I held him tightly, then let it all out. I cried my eyes out...the pain, the torture, the torment and the humiliation.

After we were done consoling each other, he took me out for a walk.. holding my wrist protectively as if I’ll disappear if he let go. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

We walked through the streets silently for a while letting the weight of what happened sink in between us until I broke the silence finally.

"What’s your name?" I asked him.

He immediately stopped in his tracks then turned to face me with a smirk. "I’m Lysander Wilson but you can call me Lysan, senior year just like you but an Art student." He responded, voice low and playful.

I was lost in thought for a second from locking eyes with him properly. And for the first time, I realized how adorably cute he is.

Not just his looks, but everything about him.Slim but not skinny, light skinned with curly brown hair ,the cutest jawline, eyes that looks like it knows everything about you with just a glance and his cute glasses.

My cheeks warmed instantly, and I had to look away, blinking twice before managing to respond. "I’m Kiana Martin, a business student."

He just smiled then shaked his head and muttered under his breath, almost to himself. " Such a pretty girl."

My cheeks were now burning, then he intertwined his fingers with mine and dragged me to a nearby arcade.

We spent most of the time playing the games and competing with each other. For a few moments, I felt like this was some kind of dream.. because this was the very first time in my life someone has ever shown me this amount of love and care.

From the Arcade he took me to his favorite snacks shop and forced me to try a new recipe which came with a pink chrysanthemum bouquet and a side note from him.

I opened the note to read with a lazy smile, and it said.. "Bad days are not the end of the world, Smile because you’re pretty when you do."

"Awww.. Lysan thank you." I purred. He just smirked, then gestured to me to try the recipe, which was chocolate baked french biscuit and vanilla iced tea.

I obeyed and took a bite of the biscuit before sipping the tea. It was really delicious, but what caught my attention was how Lysan stares at me when he thinks I’m not looking.

His gaze lingered on my lips before rising to meet my eyes, slow and deliberate, like I was something he wanted to taste. The intensity made my stomach knot, so I cleared my throat just to break the spell.

Finally, he looked away.

"I know it’s kind of strange to ask, especially after... what happened today." he said, his voice low and uneven, "but... would you go to prom with me tomorrow?"

For a moment, I just blinked at him, sure I had misheard. Prom? With me? After everything? The question hung in the air, so unexpected it stole my breath.

Then warmth swelled in my chest, so sudden and sharp my eyes stung with tears. Nobody had asked me something like this in so long—it almost hurt, but in the best way.

I swallowed hard, trying to steady my voice. " Sure, I’d love to." I whispered, the words trembling but real.

He just groaned with a soft laugh then muttered, "Thank you Kiana."

I smiled back clutching my pink chrysanthemum bouquet tightly against my chest and wishing dearly if this was a dream I don’t want to wake up.

Just as we were enjoying a little bit of silence and some music from the shop, I got a message from an unknown number again. It says,

"Meet me at the east wing of the library at 8pm,I have something to tell you."

Who’s this person? Is it Maddox trying to play mind games with me or somebody else? And what does he or she have to tell me? I exhaled deeply and whispered to myself,

"Calm down Kiki, forget about the terrible nightmares you had with Maddox, it’s all over now."

Even though I knew better than anyone that it’s never over, not when Maddox is involved.
