Claiming My Possessive CEO Husband-Chapter 845 - : Secret Mission
Chapter 845 -845: Secret Mission
“Hmm.” Quine Heninger said, “It’s inconvenient for the people from the Lingo Pavilion, but I guess you’re better off doing this task. I’ll send someone to assist you.”
“Get close to the wealthy businessman, Edith Bennett?” Xaviera Evans responded casually, “That shouldn’t be difficult. There’s no need for assistance, I’ll contact you when the task is done.”
Heninger reminded her, “Well, do be careful.”
Xaviera gave him a sweet smile, “Don’t worry, big bro.”
Lingo Pavilion didn’t often take on tasks, so there must be a special reason for her brother assigning her this job, especially when it involves controlling Edith Bennett.
Xaviera turned on her computer, logged into Black Tide’s account and looked up Edith Bennett’s information within the Star Organization. The information she found was limited, but anyone that her brother personally reminded her about, must be extraordinary.
...
With her slender fingers typing rapidly on the keyboard, the information appeared bit by bit, prompting a sneer hanging on Xaviera’s lips.
This man is really something!
…
Two days later.
At 7pm, the charity event officially commenced. Two days ago, Xaviera had introduced herself to Bennett under the pseudonym ‘Gladys Alf’ and was currently preparing her disguise in the bedroom, intending to fulfill the event’s invitation together with him.
Suddenly, Steve Price’s voice sounded from the outside, “Madame, what gown will you be wearing tonight?”
Xaviera’s lips twitched slightly, “???”
“The CEO originally said he wouldn’t attend this event, but he suddenly changed his mind this morning. I figured you would definitely attend too, so I came to ask what gown you planned on wearing so I can have it delivered.”
Xaviera paused, was Caleb Mamet also going? Caleb didn’t like such occasions, he’d always made donations, but never attended in person. So why is he suddenly attending this time?
She had assumed Caleb wouldn’t attend and that was why she agreed to her brother’s request. But now…
Xaviera’s expression changed and she stiffened in her place.
This time, she would be attending the event as Edith Bennett’s companion. If Caleb found out, she would be in serious trouble.
Perhaps noticing her growing panic, Caleb, just by the door, gave her a slight smile. He then quietly stepped into the room and walked up to her, murmuring, “Mrs. Mamet.”
Xaviera shivered, her heart skipping a beat.
The man leaned in, his hot breath fanning her ear. His magnetic voice softly ringing, “Have you decided on a gown yet?”
Xaviera looked at the catalog of gowns Steve Price handed over to her and hesitated.
“Pick something you like, the makeup team will come to the house to help you prepare later. After you’re done, we’ll leave together,” and Caleb said softly.
Xaviera’s heart pounded. What was she going to do?
“There’s a sapphire necklace up for auction at the charity event. I remember you had a blue gown design that would go perfectly with it. I’ll bid for it as a gift for you, is it okay?”
His voice was soft, and his eyes filled with adoration, just like a clear pond that one couldn’t help falling into.
Xaviera now regretted agreeing to her brother’s task. Most frustrating was Edith Bennett, a man full of ill intentions, who still planned to cause a scene at the charity event.
After hesitating for a moment, she tried to say, “Caleb… I… I think maybe I won’t go today.”

Her voice grew softer and her confidence faded, causing her to lower her head.
Caleb looked at her, his eyes brimming with affection for her, his voice filled with humor, “And why is that?”
Xaviera trembled slightly, her heart pounding. She sensed his question had a deeper meaning, and if she didn’t come up with a reasonable excuse, she wouldn’t be able to leave today.
If Caleb knew that she was getting close to Edith Bennett, he would certainly take on her task. But how many eyes are currently on Caleb? If he were to get close to Bennett now, it would raise suspicions.
Xaviera racked her brain, what excuse would she give that would convince Caleb?
After a long silence, Xaviera’s eyes brightened. Soon after, she exclaimed, “I got a stomach ache and am not feeling well, I can’t go.”
Caleb’s gentle gaze shifted from her face to her belly, before breaking into a knowing smile, “Is that so? Then what about the gown at the door…”
“Actually, I was intending to go with you, so I had a gown prepared. Unfortunately, my body is failing me, I’m just too delicate!”
Xaviera giggled, “Yes, that’s right.”
Caleb didn’t press her further but nodded, “Okay then, if you’re not feeling well, you should stay at home. I’ll go by myself.”
