Classless Awakening; My Dragon Is Legendary-Chapter 30: Level 4 Doll
Chapter 30
Derrick’s eyes peeled open, and goosebumps appeared around his body, a phenomenon that only occurred whenever he was in danger.
Derrick’s eyes locked onto a man in his mid-thirties, who held what looked like a scalpel inches above his head.
Derrick leaped off his bed. He reached for his sword, but it was nowhere to be found.
Without any hesitation, he put his fists up, switching to martial arts, his mind running through the multiple skills that could be used in this scenario.
"Calm down, Prince Derrick," the man said with fear written in his eyes. He had heard stories about how violent the prince could be.
"Who are you, and what did you try to do to me?" Derrick asked. He didn’t dare drop his guard.
His eyes remained locked on the man, waiting for the slightest trace of hostility in his actions or body language.
"I was trying to wake you up." The man answered honestly.
"Besides, your Knight is here, so I couldn’t possibly harm you." The man pointed at Royal Knight, who stood chivalrously in the corner of the room.
"Relax Derrick, I told him what to do," Royal Knight said, his voice as calm as ever.
"Leave us," Royal Knight said calmly. And the man left promptly.
Royal Knight didn’t say anything. Instead, he just stared calmly at Derrick, pouring himself a cup of tea.
"You are a fascinating creature young man," Royal Knight had to admit.
The chances of a black hole spawning every three minutes was higher than the chances of Derrick being born.
"Why do you say so?" Derrick asked. He knew he was lucky and rare, but he didn’t think he was all that.
"Handsome, young, favored Prince, dragon spirit, grandmaster talent and a peerless genius. Some may even say you’re the perfect human." Royal Knight took a sip of his tea.
"Assuming you’re even human." Royal Knight chuckled.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Derrick asked, but Royal Knight didn’t answer.
"In due time Derrick, all will be revealed." Even if Royal Knight wanted to, he couldn’t tell Derrick what he wanted to know.
There was a limit to even his vast expertise, and there was only one man he knew who could understand Derrick.
"Can we just get back to training?" Derrick didn’t care about anything else. The only thing on his mind was growing stronger. The duel was approaching in a few days, and even after all that, he would need to deal with the beasts he unleashed upon the forest.
"Soon, but for now, you need to go to your room and rest," Royal Knight said calmly.
"Why, I’m perfectly well rested." Derrick was fully ready to brawl.
"Derrick..." Royal Knight didn’t know what to say.
"I need to make my own personal findings. You can train if you’d like, but I’m a little busy," Royal Knight said, exhaustion layered in his voice.
He had received several war transmissions, a plague was quickly encroaching on Dravania, and he feared he was the only one qualified enough to stop it.
With each of these thoughts, Royal Knight only grew more tired and weighed down. It was only a matter of time until he lost his sanity.
Royal Knight stood to his feet, his mind spinning rapidly, trying to find a solution to the rapidly approaching problems.
"Oh, and before I forget," Royal Knight waved his hands, and Derrick’s blade materialized out of thin air.
Royal Knight threw the blade at Derrick’s eyes. Derrick caught the blade as soon as it blocked his vision.
He looked up from his blade and Royal Knight was nowhere to be seen.
"That’s pretty cool," Derrick said underneath his breath, wishing he would learn that trick one day.
For a second, Royal knight’s words lingered. He couldn’t just go to his room and wait, he needed to keep training.
"The doll." Derrick’s mind flashed back to the wooden doll that had almost taken his life earlier.
Now, he was stronger, faster and more experienced, especially with completing his daily quests, he was sure he could take on a level 3 version.
It took Derrick about 5 minutes to find his way into the training room, and the second he opened the door, he was hit with the familiar smell and sight.
Derrick’s face lit up as soon as he locked eyes with the doll in the distance.
He walked in and closed the door behind him, sealing himself shut.
Royal Knight had added several more layers of protection to avoid any more assassination attempts or unwanted interruptions.
Derrick walked to the center of the field, and was once again met with the doll.
The last time, it had activated autonomously and almost took off his head.
This time, Derrick was well-prepared and experienced.
"Activate," Derrick commanded, and the doll hummed to life.
Its entire body jerked, a sign that it had been activated.
Its eyes danced around, strange mystical runes glowed within them.
The doll’s body began to morph, extra layers of definition etched into its armor, and the sword in its hand grew longer and sharper.
"I see you have returned to challenge me." The doll declared boldly.
"Huh..." A shocked expression weaved its way onto his face. " I didn’t know you could speak." Derrick got into a fighting stance, he couldn’t risk getting caught off guard.
"You choose not to draw your sword?" The doll asked, its voice laced with confusion.
"No, I’d like to see what my hands can do," Derrick declared boldly.
"I see, well I guess I should respect your decision." The doll dropped its sword to the ground, remaining valiant.
Derrick was about to say something when goosebumps appeared all around his skin, the feeling of dread and a cold sweat running down his spine followed suit.
Derrick activated his dragon eyes, allowing him to barely catch the movement of the doll.
The doll’s fist clashed with Derrick’s, and a powerful shockwave traveled through their immediate vicinity.
However, with this punch, Derrick noticed something, an energy that was familiar yet strange at the same time.
"Was that... Varyn?"
