Chapter 745: Chapter 745: Could the two of them have had a fierce argument?

Mo Qian placed the signed agreement back into the document pouch, then called Chen Ke inside.

"Send this agreement back exactly as it is," he ordered in a deep voice, his sharp features betraying no emotion.

"You... signed it?" Chen Ke looked at him in utter disbelief.

He had witnessed Mo Qian and Ji Wei come together, and although their relationship had taken a drastic downturn lately, Chen Ke believed this was just a temporary phase.

It was clear to him that Mr. Gu had no genuine affection for that woman named Zhao Wanqing, especially since she disappeared after Ji Wei’s car accident. Presumably, Mr. Gu had discarded her as well.

Chen Ke felt it was only a matter of time before the pair reconciled. Yet now, suddenly, he’d been handed a separation agreement!

Even he couldn’t believe that this document had been sent by Ji Wei.

But the mailing address was unmistakably Shanshui Manor, and the contact number on the form clearly belonged to Ji Wei—there was no doubt about it.

"Hmm, send the agreement back to the original address," Mo Qian said without looking up, his tone flat, as if discussing something trivial.

"Mr. Gu, are you sure you shouldn’t reconsider? The madam must have her reasons for doing this..." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Chen Ke attempted to persuade him but was abruptly cut off by Mo Qian’s cold interruption: "Chen Ke, have I been spoiling you lately? You think you can meddle in my private affairs now?"

Chen Ke’s face turned pale in an instant.

"I wouldn’t dare," he stammered.

"Take the agreement and leave," Mo Qian said icily, with a tone that allowed no room for argument.

Chen Ke dared not say another word. Mo Qian’s reaction made it clear that he was in no good mood, and Chen Ke wouldn’t dream of provoking him further.

The office returned to silence.

Mo Qian leaned back in his leather swivel chair, closing his eyes slowly. He raised his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, looking utterly exhausted.

Just this morning, he and Ji Wei had exchanged messages. Her mood had seemed fine then, so how could she have sent him a separation agreement this afternoon without a word?

The image of Ji Wei tenderly pouring him water last night surfaced in his mind. Their relationship had been steadily improving.

If this agreement wasn’t a forgery, then the only other explanation... As the possibility crossed his mind, Mo Qian’s dark eyes grew increasingly cold and brooding.

...

After finishing the postal arrangements, Chen Ke returned, only to see Mo Qian briskly walking out of the office, coat in hand.

"Mr. Gu, are you headed out?" Chen Ke immediately asked.

Mo Qian shot him an inscrutable glance, his tone steady: "Assistant Chen, stay here and wait for my call."

The statement left Chen Ke completely perplexed.

Was Mr. Gu going back to confront the madam personally? Would there be a heated argument between the two?

Chen Ke’s heart was filled with worry.

Before he could gather his thoughts, Mo Qian’s tall figure had already strode far away.

Downstairs at Gu’s Company, a silver-gray Maybach was waiting. The driver, Old Xu, noticed Mo Qian approaching and promptly got out of the car to present the keys to him with both hands.

With a somber face, Mo Qian said a few words to the driver before settling into the driver’s seat, starting the engine, and speeding off.

The car roared forward, its speed hinting at the driver’s turbulent emotions.

Soon after the Maybach accelerated away, someone lurking in the shadows whispered a quick report into their earpiece. Shortly thereafter, a black sedan across from Gu Group began tailing the Maybach.

Mo Qian’s refined face remained exceptionally composed as his gaze flicked to the rearview mirror, where the black sedan had come into view. His dark eyes emanated a sharp, cold light.
