Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 798: Husband, You’ve Worked Hard
Ji Wei turned around, and Mo Qian reached out to untie the apron strings at her back. The moment she felt the floral fabric loosen, she suddenly realized what had happened.
Ji Wei lowered her lashes, her face slightly flushed, and an uncontrollable smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
"Mrs. Gu, now that you’ve finished the noodles, your strength should be restored quite a bit, huh?" The man behind her suddenly leaned close to her fair ear and asked in a low voice.
The warm breath brushed against the sensitive skin near her ear. Ji Wei’s heart raced as she dazedly nodded her head, only to quickly regret it and shake her head instead, anxiously explaining, "I ate too much... It’s not suitable to exercise right away."
This explanation... seemed even worse.
She hurriedly raised her eyes to glimpse at Mo Qian, the man’s deep gaze quietly fixed on her. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"That’s not what I meant, I was trying to say—"
Ji Wei wanted to continue clarifying, but before she could, her body was suddenly lifted effortlessly. Mo Qian held her by the waist and carried her up. Her bright, clear eyes stared at him nervously as she bit her crimson lips and softly pleaded, "Mo Qian... let’s not do this?"
"Not do what?" Mo Qian looked at her with an innocent expression. "I’m just carrying you to the bed for sleep. Or would you rather spend the night sitting in the dining room?"
Ji Wei: "..."
Damn, she was the one overthinking it.
"If Mrs. Gu feels the activities earlier in the night weren’t deep or satisfying enough, I’d be more than happy to oblige," Mo Qian added with a faint, teasing smile.
Ji Wei avoided his fiery gaze, her tone guilty as she murmured, "No need! I’m so tired I can’t keep myself up... And honestly, I ate way too much."
She scrambled to find excuses.
Mo Qian merely chuckled softly without a response, carrying her straight to the bedside.
Placing her gently onto the bed and carefully pulling the blanket over her, Mo Qian said, "I still have some work to deal with. You get some sleep, alright?"
Ji Wei looked at him and suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Just now, she had wrongly judged his intentions with suspicion. As Mo Qian was about to turn away, she abruptly grabbed his arm, calling out, "Mo Qian."
She whispered.
Mo Qian paused mid-step, gazing at her tenderly, "What is it?"
Ji Wei’s fingers curled slightly as she gathered her courage and leaned in to plant a quick kiss on his thin lips. "Hubby, thank you for everything," she said.
She blushed deeply, pulling the blanket over most of her face, feeling utterly embarrassed. In the quiet room, Ji Wei could distinctly hear the rapid thudding of her own heartbeat.
Mo Qian’s expression shifted, and his slender fingers gently ruffled the top of her hair. "Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Gu."
His voice remained melodious as ever, and hidden beneath the blanket, Ji Wei’s flushed face blossomed into a smile.
After Mo Qian left, Ji Wei fell asleep quickly and didn’t wake until early the next morning.
Opening her eyes and not seeing Mo Qian, Ji Wei tossed off the blanket and got out of bed. When she entered the living room, she found that Mo Qian had fallen asleep on the sofa, still holding his laptop in his hands.
His refined features couldn’t conceal the exhaustion etched between his brows.
Ji Wei felt a pang in her chest as she quietly walked over, gently taking the laptop from his arms and carefully supporting his head so he could lie flat on the sofa.
Next, Ji Wei turned back to the bedroom to fetch a summer quilt, draping it over Mo Qian before retreating to the bathroom to freshen up.
After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she hung the damp towel on the rack and turned to leave, but suddenly an idea popped into her head. Her gaze unconsciously wandered to the space beneath the sink.
Could there be a hidden compartment there too?
